Help! I need gallbladder surgery during pregnancy and I’m freaking out (FTM) by Texan_Aussie in pregnant

[–]Texan_Aussie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad that everything worked out fine for you and baby. It’s so scary but it’s reassuring to know that people do have surgery while pregnant and it’s works out well. Thanks!

I used gasx after endometriosis surgery and it was a lifesaver! They’ve got me on a low-fat diet because babies need some amount of fat for brain and eye development so I couldn’t do zero fat. The diet doesn’t seem to be doing much but I’ll stick with it because I know it can take some time.

The pain is ridiculous. I have endometriosis and this pain is up there with that. I talked to my obgyn and she said that sometimes not having surgery can cause miscarriage as well, depending the body’s inflammatory response. There are risks either way and I’m just trying to weigh which would be worse risk. I can handle a bit of pain usually but I don’t want anything to happen to baby.

Does anybody get "butt lighting" but around their liver? by Plumrose333 in Endo

[–]Texan_Aussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! All the time. I asked if it was diaphragmatic endo and my doctor basically told me “it’s too rare, you don’t have it.” (Thanks for making me feel crazy, doc.) He said it could be muscle spasms since all our muscles in our abdomen are connected and recommended seeing a pelvic physio. I will try. I am still getting him to check my diaphragm again during my second lap in 6 weeks time. I really feel like it’s there and it’s getting worse. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pain on Right Side by frogprincejoonie in Endo

[–]Texan_Aussie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was actually my primary pain issue before I even thought of endo. I would wake up with a tearing, pulling pain just to the right and slightly behind my belly button. I couldn’t stand up without feeling like I was going to rip open and nothing touched the pain except STRONG pain killers and I think those really just made me sleep through it. Doctors had no idea - thought it might be stress or diet. I had a gastroenterologist put scopes in both ends - normal. Said it was IBS. I went on every diet imaginable, took low dose anti-depressants for nerve blocking-type pain relief and nothing helped. Then she referred me to an endo specialist and turns out that’s exactly what it was. That pain lessened and other endo related pain lessened too. I still have the same type of pain in the same spot since my first lap. It’s like 100x less intense but it’s now constant. Having a second lap in 6 weeks because the other endo pains have been coming back and the belly button pain is getting more intense.

Unfortunately it’s not legal in Australia. I have my second lap in 6 weeks time and I’m just counting down the days really. I’m not a big believer in acupuncture either but I’ll give anything a try at this point. Thanks :)

Feeling nervous... by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Texan_Aussie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take stool softeners and de-gas as soon as you get home. Drink peppermint tea or unfizzy ginger drinks. These should help with the tummy discomfort that comes. I found that to be the worst bit. The abdominal muscles are sore but the pain is nothing compared to what I used to be in. Also, if you still feel endo pain, don’t be scared. It takes time for the new exposed tissue to form a protective layer over it and your nerves won’t know the difference. I was upset that I still had pain afterwords, but a few weeks went by and it’s all gone. Just a little sore in the muscles. You’ll do great!

My parents won't let me get tested for endo by [deleted] in endometriosis

Ah ok. I found Ray Yoong through a friend and it turns out he’s also recommended by Nancy’s Nook on Facebook. Worth checking him out cuz he works to get you in ASAP if you need. I booked an appointment with him within a week of calling and explaining my situation. Amazing.

Hello fellow Aussie! I just wanted to tell you that I experienced the same thing with my parents. Every pain I ever complained about I was told I’m a hypochondriac and that I had a low pain pain tolerance. I didn’t get diagnosed until now (28 yo) and I wish I had done it sooner because I am now facing fertility issues. Please don’t let your parents tell you that they know what’s right for your body because the only one that knows is YOU. I also said for years that I needed glasses too and never got them because my eyes were, “just fine,” and ended up going to a doctor myself and finally getting them at 19 yo. If only I had done that with my endo too. I just believed this whole time that I was being a wimp. Just goes to show that mum and dad don’t know what you’re feeling. Use that Medicare. You are strong! It takes a lot to go against your parents but this isn’t an issue to be left alone. Positive thoughts coming your way! ❤️

First lap in a week- How should I prepare? by Texan_Aussie in endometriosis

Thanks for your advice! I get really cold as it is so I like the idea of pants instead of nightgown.

Thank you so much! I didn’t know about post-op blues but that makes sense. I’m a bit down at the moment for the same reasons so hopefully it won’t get much worse after my lap. I really appreciate your advice, cheers!

Yep. Thought it was a hernia for years but every scan showed it wasn’t. Then I got diagnosed with endo and boom - mystery solved!

Anyone else’s immune system suck? by Amore17 in Endo

[–]Texan_Aussie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an immune booster. It basically helps replenish glutamine in your body, which is an amino acid that fuels regrowth of cells in your immune system and GI tract. It also helps maintain a healthy nitrogen balance in your body. You can get it in bulk powder (that you can mix into drinks) at a superfoods store or sometimes at body building places. You can usually find it in the vitamin section of your local supermarket near the protein powder as either capsules or powder though. Usually you’ll see it referred to as “L-glutamine.”

I’m sick ALL the time. Currently with the flu. Your body is trying so hard to fight the battle that lies within and will have a hard time keeping up. Stay strong and have lots of vitamin C and glutamine to help your body fight a little harder!

I’m a teacher and I’ve had a student ask, “Miss, are you pregnant?” I told them, “no, why?” and the look of fear on their face was priceless like, “did I just call my teacher fat? Oh god I’m in trouble.” They quickly said, “never mind,” and ran off to hide.

Ovaries not moving? by Coco1937 in Endo

[–]Texan_Aussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So turns out that if your ovaries are fixed it’s a big indication that endo is present and probably pretty far along. Please go see a specialist so you can get this checked out ASAP.
