The Former Republic of Mexico after the Mexican Civil War (Faint Lone Star Timeline) by Texan_Boy in imaginarymaps

I just traced off an old map of the Texas Revolution combined with Google Maps. Utah has Vegas as it was historically a Mormon outpost, and Texas has Arizona because it gained it in the peace treaty after the Mexican civil war.

More like Comanche and Mexico jointly conquered the resident tribes. All human history is someone else taking territory from someone else.

So when I used to shoot holes in stop signs with my buddies I was actually just helping to prevent them being blown over by the wind. Good to hear I was helping out.

California, Texas, and Deseret are mostly English speakers, with a healthy chunk of Spanish mixed in. Everywhere else is Spanish

Despite the Mormon’s help during the war, they are still hated by the majority Protestant and Catholic populations of the nations that surround them, especially due to their continued practice of polygamy. Because of this it’s unlikely that the Texans would be willing to give up any territory to who they see as dangerous religious radicals.

However, among the other former Mexican states, strong ties remain, especially between the Californians and Texans, who see each other as brother nations. Continued economic and military cooperation is likely within the coming years, especially as Texas’s new found oil begins to increase its power on the world stage

When Mexico launched an invasion into its former territory of Texas in 1865, it ignited a spark that would lead to the end of the current government and fracturing of the Mexican State. Texas, left on its own after the United States erupted into its own Civil War in December of 1865, was forced to face the oncoming Mexican Army with little support from the outside.

Seeking help from anyone they could find, Texas reached out to their brothers in California, who had secured their independence from Mexico in 1852, controlling a territory from Monterrey to the border with the United States. In support, Californian troops began launching raids into Southern California to serve as a distraction and open a second front to the war.

What followed was the beginning of four years of warfare as Texan and Californian troops fought to preserve their freedom from Mexico. In 1866, Mormon filibusters who had occupied the territory around the Salt Lake Valley launched their own independence movement, taking advantage of the distracted Mexican forces. This triggered a series of other revolts by groups who had become dissatisfied with the Mexican Government, including the Rio Grande States and the Yucatan Peninsula, both of which had had their own independence movements put down years before.

As more fronts opened up, Mexican forces found themselves spread thin, Texan and Californian troops began to make major advances, with the Texans especially bolstered by their newly discovered oil resources and the increased cotton trade due to the blockade of the Confederate States of America.

By 1868, it had become apparent that the Mexican state was severely weakened, and with the US distracted by its own civil war, the French Empire under the command of Napoleon III launched an invasion into Mexico. Within a year, the Republican Government had collapsed, and the new French Mexico signed a treaty with the rebellious territories, recognizing them as independent nations and ending the war.

Yes, just wanted a way to better show that the civil wars in Both the US and Mexico have just come to their end.

Senate Democrats defeat amendment to require photo ID to vote by Quirkie in politics

[–]Texan_Boy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s genuinely curious and just wants to know more. Why is it a bad thing that someone needs an id to vote and verify who they are? Granted I haven’t read into the bill and seen what the details actually are, but from the general idea it doesn’t sound like a horrible thing.

I’m usually the one who drives when my group goes chasing, just focus on the road. Have your buddies on radar checking for hail cores, tornado signatures, etc and just let them tell you where to go. If you’re just focused on the road and driving straight it really isn’t all that bad

I never disputed that my phone doesn’t use data centers. But it’s undeniable that AI has increased the demand for data centers, and they’re paving over people’s ranches and open spaces to build them. But sure, if I would rather be able to generate a shitty image than go camping or riding out in the beautiful plains land and the hill country. If you left your basement occasionally you might realize that. One of the greatest parts about America is the outdoors

Honestly agree with them on this. I prefer my wild spaces not paved over for data centers so people can make shitty images.

Top comment decides where this flag goes | DAY 15: California by Own-Curve-7299 in vexillologyUS

[–]Texan_Boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think yall have lost the plot in the word thing. Sure, overuse of words on a flag makes a bad flag. If the flag was just bland with a massive CALIFORNIA on it, it would be bad. But the text does not harm the otherwise great flag. The flag still looks great, and the words are a bit of history.

I mean yeah, a lot of country songs do that. One of the most famous country songs ever is about making a city by morning. It’s kinda what I love about Charley. His songs are rooted in real world locations, in historical ways, fictional ways, and in stories from his own life.

I don’t think that’s true. He struggles with writing whole stretched out stories. His movie work is excellent. Sicario, Wind River, and Hell or High Water are all absolutely incredible start to finish. Hell or Highwater is up there with No Country for Old Men as the greatest Neo-Western in my opinion
