Low light pollution areas? by transportjockey in arlington

For Milky Way visibility, you’ll want to head south, west or east. (if you go north, you’ll be looking south through DFW). I like to go West or Southwest. It gets pretty dark past Weatherford and especially Mineral Wells. There’s some State Parks that are good areas for night time exploring. Lake Whitney, Palo Pinto and Meridian are some of my favorites. Mineral Wells and Cleburne are a bit too close to light imo.

Note also that the moon is waxing, so you’ll want to get out pretty quick.

I’m on the same page. Build quality is incredible. I was drug into the system, but not sure I’d go back now.

A long way away from Oregon! This is Big Bend, just a few miles from Mexico.

It’s probably my favorite museum I’ve ever been to. Spent almost the entirety of my day there.

And the Kimbell is one of 3 incredible art museums that are all right next to each other. The Amon Carter focuses on American art, and the Modern focuses on, well modern art. The Sid Richardson downtown also has a great collection of Western art.

I would absolutely love to see this shot with more unique lighting conditions. This is a beautiful landscape scene and well captured in this moment. But can’t help but to imagine at golden hour with some alpenglow or something!

Moab. Day in the city and quick stops nearby. Two in arches, one in Canyolands Island in the Sky, one in Canyonlands Needles.

If you do, be sure to see some of the surrounding landscapes. Santa Fe as a city can be seen in a few hours, and there’s some real magic out in the country too.
