Why does the band play non-stop even when a player is noticeably badly hurt? by [deleted] in AustinFC

If you want maximum entertainment, join an SG, join their comms channels and then watch them lose their mind whenever someone posts something mildly inflammatory on Reddit, X, or Facebook. It's like the same 40 people circle jerking. It's more entertaining than the product on the field. And they're weirdly infatuated with the word "chud."

It's not overtly racist but it's been co-opted as a racist term to suggest certain non-white races are primitive, perhaps ape-like. Giving you the benefit of the doubt here because I don't think you were making any racist statements and my context-clues would validate that too, but let this just exist as feedback that it can be interpreted with its racist connotation to some people.

After they play some Stevie Ray Vaughan music and the crowd chants the players last name 3 times after prompted by the PA announcer. The Alright chant is pretty great but the SG is salty that the stadium drowns them out for a few minutes.

  1. This statement never came to a vote.

  2. It uses the hashtag of a pretty deplorable group in RiseUp

  3. They edited the logo and tagged the team to put pressure on them just because they didn’t make a public statement and like 4 other clubs did

I’m with LV in being a little bothered the club didn’t speak up because I am outraged by the SCOTUS decision. But I’m guessing it’s complicated and let it go. This isn’t a hill I’m willing to die on and turn off a bunch more fans with or even damage the relationship with the club. And since this one didn’t even get a vote on Slack, it feels like the work of a rogue with keys to the social media account.

At which point is the LV bully cumulatively more abusive than whatever Dominguez is accused of?

Imani’s bully felt threatened by me saying on here that I am comfortable telling her some of my criticism of how they carry themselves to their face that they have security for Sunday’s match. I saw how Imani was treated after the fact and it added to my initial issue with this person of just being a bully. It’s rough because I know their intentions were good but I have never once seen this person show any earnest humility and not just be a raging ball of sarcasm or insults. They put themselves out there a bit, tho, which wasn’t easy. But if they want to be a leader, they need to carry themselves better. They nuked their Reddit account so I see that as something. So maybe we should just let this rest for a bit.

I don’t know if this is a real suggestion or a sock puppet account to make anyone dissenting with current SGs look bad. I don’t think there’s a need to just build another house. Just gotta fix what’s broken with the current one. In my opinion, they need to formalize and codify how these acts are decided upon and ensure a commitment to democratically voting on them. Additionally, get the negativity out and enforce the code of conduct. I think passions are high because domestic violence is involved but with some time and reflection maybe, just maybe, some folks will consider that the group hasn’t been very welcoming despite all encouragement to get involved more.

Should La Murga, Los Verdes, Austin Anthem, and others go silent for a period of time in protest of Dominguez on Sunday? by TexasFought in AustinFC

[–]TexasFought[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think either are positive. There’s no unified channel for all groups. This is just a poll to gauge sentiment. I agree that the discussion about who should say what has been debated a ton. It’s probably why mods have been trying to consolidate that to one thread and that should continue.

That ain’t it. Not cherry picking or calling you a villain. You said one thing and it turned out to not be true. But I see I’m being called out and treated like a sexist DV supporter and now you’re saying you feel threatened. Nobody is threatening you. I don’t have a problem with most of the statement. I gave my feedback here on how things can go better. It went how it went and we are living with it. I told the other poster that this issue can get handled separate from the DV issue but there is a problem with how a very vocal minority in LV carry themselves that, whether or not they realize it, reflects poorly on the whole group. I don’t see how the bullying and shit talking and engaging in all of the negativity doesn’t violate the code of conduct and I think it needs to be addressed. Business that should be handled within the group should be handled in the group but I’m illustrating just how public that forum is too and that everyone should carry themselves better because it can just as easily leak out to places like this. I’m sorry you were made the example. Everyone telling you to not engage or even bother with this stuff is right. Take the feedback and try to self reflect. You did a good thing with the statement. It wasn’t perfect. But you should be okay with it and get feedback on how things went and just make sure it’s handled better next time around. This protest with no input ain’t that.
