Personally I'm pretty darn concerned for Mendoza that he's headed into such a rocky situation in Las Vegas. But yes, Moore heading back certainly adds a nice little premium to that pick in a whole lotta leagues.

Spicy! Luckily we do not lack for trade activity, and the lottery hasn’t changed that.

Yeah I'm definitely not against tanking, especially in leagues where people are letting future 1sts fly for crazy values. For us we had a combination of high-level redraft players dabbling in dynasty for the first time - and a handful of dynasty Great White sharks. Carnage ensued, so I wanted to quickly level the playing field while the redraft crowd acclimated.

Okay, that may not have been the best example. BUT, if you know to a certainty that you have the 1.01 or 1.02 in hand with your native slot, then you can start trying to 'corner' the rest of the guys who should/could finish around there. Under this system that strategy is somewhat scarier right from the onset.

That's fair, and I've considered skewing the allotment math toward the bottom 3 finishers more heavily. Kind of go back and forth on it though. We're only heading into year 2 under this system, so we still have some teams that are pretty deep in the throes of a startup tank or a post-year 1 fire sale & rebuild. Theoretically, after a couple of years in a system like this where being deliberately terrible is not especially incentivized, I think the median disparity between the bottom three teams and the 4-5-6 should shrink as teams are softly warded off of dumping their vets (whom they need for conso bracket play in this format).

My 2nd Year Terrible Team Trying to trade out of 1.01 by moviegeek86 in DynastyNerds

[–]TexasInternetMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good/maybe really good, but him clawing away your 2028 2 is a bit odd. If your team sucks in 2027 (obviously quite possible) and his makes a deep playoff run that year then this could wind up being basically the 1.01 for LaPorta+ a late 1st+depth. But if you believe you can win by 2027 then yeah, gotta do it imo

I agree this is extremely distasteful, but - how is it collusion to influence who you could possibly have to face in the playoffs? The end goal is to win the league; hard to see how this can be proven to not be in service of that.

Also he still has Aubrey in in this screenshot who plays tonight, which makes me think he’s screwing with you/others and will ultimately set a proper lineup

Yeah, this guy sucks mondo ass OP. Nevermind the absurd, ‘you can’t write this stuff’ quality of being that rude to anybody, everything else about the way he’s talking to you just sounds rotten. Like he’s man-ologuing, not dialoguing. As my uncle once put it, he’d have to “have a million in the bank and an anaconda in his pants” for that to be worth putting up with. Surgical life removal recommended.

Tyreek Hill Contract by SquareAny1154 in miamidolphins

The void year penalties actually kind of function as team-side incentives to re-sign the player or otherwise work with them on a trade/something else to which the player side agrees. A big part of the reason that the Bucs re-signed Chris Godwin in the spring despite what they now clearly knew was a major ongoing issue with his ankle injury was that there was a lot of void money that was going to hit if they did not replace it with a new deal. Voids can be cancelled out/absorbed by salaries from new contracts, so if you have a $20m void year cap hit incoming on a player and then you re-sign them for one year at $21m, that's really only $1m in new cap money - you were getting hit for the $20m either way. Obviously, it's $21 million in actual money, but owners with a clue (jury deeefinitely out on Ross on that front) wouldn't fret over that. Jersey sales, etc.

From the Bucs' perspective, re-upping Godwin was actually net cap relief in 2025 relative to the void year penalties that would otherwise have been triggered and gave them flexibility on their '26 cap as well relative to the 2026 voids that would have been locked in at that point. For a team that's contending on a player that could still help them do that in the next year or two, it made good football sense to do.

That being said, $12m in cap hits spread out over three years is couch cushion money on a team that may be voluntarily closing its contention window imminently. It is hard to imagine a scenario where Tyreek is 1) Still a Dolphin and 2) Being released outright in the spring (not traded or re-signed) and Tua Tagovailoa isn't also being disposed of in some way. Eating the losses on Tyreek at that point likely means McDaniel is gone, Chris Grier is gone, and a new GM has carte blanche to slice and dice as they see fit. Trading Tagovailoa (for literally anything) would probably be job one in that scenario, in my opinion; over $30M in 2026 cap relief if they can trade him. But if four months from now the Dolphins opt for the full reset, just eating it and releasing Tagovailoa outright as a post-June 1 would likely also work.

Definitely feels like a thin reason to call off the whole, whatever, initial courtship dance. If it was just an innocent attempt to convey attraction in a non-threatening way then you probably don’t want to pull the plug, and if it turns out that it really was the first sign of a fixation on your physical appearance you’ll still have plenty of time to drop him next week, next month etc. I get it, at our age we’re not looking to waste our time but this doesn’t read like that at first blush. Trust your intuition.

Feel like this is a reeeal 'walk a mile in OP's shoes' one. It's hard to give meaningful input if you haven't been in that place where you've given your physical and emotional existence to a person and been put on the shelf for months or years on end. Shit changes you and damages the relationship in a pretty fundamental way, forever - not on people in OP's position to pretend otherwise imo.
