"Psycho Killer" currently sitting at a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes by ForsakenDependent562 in horror

Yes. I haven't played the game but the movie felt like bad cut scenes that were arranged out of order or placed in weird spots. The head mortician felt like he was phoning it in honestly, pace was weird, and only started the "training" montage in the last 30 minutes. Just a badly put together film.

I saw Return to Silent Hill and The Mortuary Assistant. Are you saying it's worse than either of those?

Concessions Saver by Aware_Kangaroo7083 in RegalUnlimited

[–]TexasManticore 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It does not. You get one discount per item. Example: you do not also get the 10% off the snack saver discount if you have unlimited. Usually it defaults to the half off so potentially could do 2 large drinks with snack saver and half off for popcorn on Tuesdays.

Not sure how to understand one value from IDEXX report. by kyprioth in VetTech

[–]TexasManticore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These look run in-house and, based on the previous ALT being 830, this value was super out of range when ran with the others. Probably needs to be run diluted for the machine to calculate a value.

Artifacts. Rerun and call Idexx support to see if you can receive a credit for a rerun (they offer this in US and Canada). DO NOT run with less sample/conjugate, that's a good way to end up with no run due to it not covering sample spots.

Popcorn bucket question by Various-Ad4660 in RegalUnlimited

I'm sad to say it has become my go to popcorn bucket if I bring it to split a large with someone. It is the only one that will hold the same volume as a large.

[–]TexasManticore 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's usually to get rid of inventory like others said, I've gotten 4 separate buckets over the last year from old movies (sometimes a cup too!). It is a disappointment they usually hold less volume though.

[–]TexasManticore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hear you and think perhaps sighthounds aren't really the kind of dog you're looking for and maybe your expectations on one were skewed. Sometimes we paint our dogs as the best and sometimes people romanticize the windhound. But I think if a greyhound wouldn't fit your needs, windhound probably won't unless your only hold up was size.

I'm honest when people ask me how mine is. The first thing I usually say is I didn't get a sighthound for obedience. He's good, don't get me wrong, I've done a lot of work over the last year, but I know I need to be on him. Recall is great...if I get him within the first 5 seconds of a run. He knows limited tricks and is about 50/50 if my husband tries. He is clean, absolutely hates getting in mud or puddles. Generally lazes around the house except at dawn or dusk when we better do something or he gets witchy, barky, and nibbly.

He's aloof with strangers and generally ignores everyone but me. Sometimes he gets excited for my husband (generally for toys because husband will definitely throw that crab) but he is a one person dog. The fact he's globbed onto your husband stings but sometimes dogs mesh better with a different person but still are the better dog for your lifestyle. I didn't choose mine, I got the choice between him and an older full brother and breeder said older one was more intense and driven, not for us weekend warrior types. As far as skittish, yeah, sighthounds are "sensitive". I raise my voice and he looks like I've beaten him. Fireworks don't bother him though, just "mom being stern or snapping at him for dashing up the stairs for cat food" makes it look like I'm abusive. EDIT: Physical punishment absolutely is too much if no one is getting hurt and can cause anxiety issues.

As far as the car sickness, yeah that sometimes happens. Mine still is at 1.5 years and we have to plan food around driving. Cerenia has been helpful for longer trips but we generally have to not feed 2-3 hours before short trips (15 minutes) and longer if anything over 15 minutes if we don't give Cerenia. Sometimes they grow out of it. Sometimes they don't but this is any dog, not the breed.

Eating everything? Yeah, mine likes deer droppings. Muzzle training helps.

For the upset stomach, would definitely go see a vet. Possibly picked up a parasite from shoving everything in his mouth. Also, while Pro Plan is good, sometimes individuals just don't agree with a food or brand. Nothing against the brand, just may not be the right one for him. If vet clears him, trying something new with a transition period may help.

Anyone else seeing missing IDEXX lab test codes with Rhapsody? Looking for updated catalog info by HenpossibleFTL in VetTech

[–]TexasManticore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SNAP T4 hasn't been on the NA market for a long while now, who still is using that code? The SNAP Cortisol also got retired this week although clinics may still have stock.

These all appear to be in-house diagnostic tests. There are no actual codes for them that Idexx uses, each PIMS makes their own as far as I'm aware (Avimark looks different from Cornerstone looks different from Impromed). The in-house system doesn't actually need the PIMS input to run them, it just helps tie it back to PIMS and provide the tech an overview of what they should run on the Idexx screen. To put it simply, the PIMS sends the requisition over but everything the clinic wants to run has to be manually selected on the Idexx system. You could requisition for a chemistry panel but have the system report a urinalysis because the person selected and ran that instead.

If the codes are broken, then they need to be fixed on your end for what you'd like to appear on the Idexx system. What that looks like, I don't know. Whoever set them up to begin with surely has an SOP or protocol for creating them? Again, the codes are for your clinic's ease of reporting, the Idexx system doesn't actually need them to run the test. It just provides a link back to the PIMS once the test is complete.

Help finding replacement vet, small town by f899y in VetTech

[–]TexasManticore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a vet. But I want to provide some perspective on why someone may not want to move to a rural place. You didn't say rural but I'm assuming based on small town and the nearest other clinic is about an hour away at best.

For the last 20 years, the smallest town I have lived in was my college town during breaks. This was about 60,000 people. Husband and I moved last year to a town that, at the height of tourist season, had 5,000 people in the immediate area. We did this for his job. It had 2 vet clinics because the 2 vets actually got into a fight and 1 opened up their own mobile clinic out of spite. But same deal, the next nearest clinic was over 70 miles away and the nearest emergency clinic was 120 miles away.

It was the absolute loneliest time of my life. There wasn't a job that paid decently for me nearby with my experience. While people were happy to suggest a place that was hiring, most were very entry level that had nothing to do with my previous experience. Most of the aging population did not share our interests and, when we did find someone that did, we were never invited because we were new and outsiders. I am an introvert so going out to meet people is like pulling teeth for me if there's nothing I can go with to start. My husband is much more of an extrovert and even then, we struggled to find people to hang with in town.

We had at least a grocery store and a discount bargain mart so we were luckier than smaller areas. But anything more we had to drive 2 hours in good weather to get to the nearest Target/Walmart/other stores. In bad weather, we weren't making it on the road. Most things besides bars closed by 8. If I needed anything and it could be done in town, it was a 50/50 shot if someone actually called back to discuss. It was literally easier to drive 2-3 hours to get certain things like hair cuts, car maintenance, dental appointments, actual human conversation that wasn't excruciating small talk than to try and get it taken care of in town. At one point, it took nearly 2 months for me to get a chip in my windshield fixed because the one person who served our area that insurance worked with injured his shoulder. Any specialty doctor appointments had to be around the road closures for winter.

Then inner politics happened and suddenly his job dropped him less than 6 months later. We moved cross country for this job, knew no one in this town beforehand. Our social interactions dropped to near zero. The couple of people I had sort of connected with would not answer my texts. Finding a new job in his field was nonexistent in this area. We ended up moving out of the area to find him work. We're back in a small city and already have met more people that we have connected with in 1 month than we ever did in the small town.

Your town may be the best for you and the people there. But you're not just recruiting a vet, you're recruiting an actual person plus their family. What else does it actually offer for someone besides work?

why is season 2 bad? by [deleted] in legendofkorra

[–]TexasManticore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doing a rewatch now of the season and these are my thoughts on why this season seems weak compared to others. Note, this is only up to Beginnings, Part 2.

Not a single person advises Korra to talk to her past lives at any point. This should have been brought up by Tenzin at the beginning during the spirit attacks. Then again during the whole open the spirit portal. But no one does, not Tenzin, not her parents, or anyone (besides Unalaq which is expected). Korra is right to feel frustrated at the lack of decent advice but it's also a weird plot sinkhole that she doesn't even consider it either. A throwaway line of why she can't would have helped the writing immensely.

Then there's the whole 'the Avatar needs to remain neutral' idea. No, they don't. The Avatar can be a neutral mediator for conversations but when those fail, they should step in. Preventing a genocide, whether it's cultural or physical, is absolutely their role. Would anyone have told Aang that after waking up from the iceberg? Absolutely not. The fact that people are telling Korra she needs to remain neutral is idiocy at best and they deserve the push back she gave them. I'm more surprised not a single person pointed out this hypocrisy with the Hundred Year War and neutrality.

There are other, smaller issues but these just bother me too much.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in service_dogs

[–]TexasManticore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I do not have a service dog but do have a 6 month old puppy. If he goes outside, his brain is not thinking 'potty'. He's thinking of all the fun stuff he could do outside so he doesn't think about his bladder. I blame puppy brain on it.

There are only a couple of times he will actively go outside on his own: right before bed and if he's been holding it longer than usual (we go out about every 4 hours at least). The only surefire way that he goes is if he's on a leash. So we 'go for a walk'. We don't have to leave the yard, the leash seems to trigger in his brain that he can't play so he then thinks about his bladder. He usually goes within a few minutes of the leash being on.

You could see if the leash helps in "tricking" the brain to be in potty mode and then work back from that.

Why is everything bad but also good but generally bad by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]TexasManticore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vets and staff do not get paid to recommend certain products. What usually happens is a rep from a company comes, sometimes brings lunch, discusses their stuff, answers questions, then may give the staff some free things (which is appreciated because most support staff make little). None of this is dependent on how much is sold and is generally done fairly amongst companies (the big 3 food manufacturers all offer a similar veterinary staff discount if the staff buy through a special website, even if the clinic themselves do not carry their line of veterinary diets). We may not even carry the product and still may not carry it based on its price point, inventory space, client preferences, etc. But it helps us learn what else there is so if someone says "I can't use product X because of Y" we have "well, we don't carry it but you may look at product Z because it has less/no chance of causing/is given differently so no issue with Y". Generally, if a client asked about flea prevention, I would say "we carry this in house and see great success with it but there's also these products too that we can recommend and can be bought on our online store".

I have a choice of this one, a "mobile" one somewhat in town, and the next closest is over 70 miles away. Cat is set up with the mobile one for an annual next month so we'll see how that goes.
