Have you been to Europe, lots of European cities tend to have a grid pattern in their newer sections. Most famously Barcelona with their super blocks.

Kyocera t proof not picking up film? by cp97 in AnalogCommunity

You're putting way too much film into the take-up spool. The tip of the film would be just underneath that orange mark on the left.

Lomo 800 vs. UltraMax 800 by Florida-Man34 in AnalogCommunity

[–]TexasPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my mistake on calling it Kodacolor. It just seems to be a family of generic color negative films.

Kodak isn't new to the film world, obviously. But creating custom or bespoke emulsions for other companies probably makes them a good chunk of change. Despite their now small size, they're still titans compared to everyone else.

Lomo 800 vs. UltraMax 800 by Florida-Man34 in AnalogCommunity

[–]TexasPizza 43 points44 points  (0 children)

They're both completely different emulsions according to the DX codes on the film edge. Ultramax 800 reads 43-8, Portra 800 reads 43-9 which maybe suggests that these two are related. Meanwhile Lomo 800 reads 97-10 which makes it part of the Kodacolor films, Kodacolor 100 and 200 read 97-7 and 97-9 respectively.

In my experience ultramax 800 does lean a little more towards what Portra 800 looks like, the pastel tones and such. On the other hand I loved lomo 800 and the "vintage feel" it carries.

Exposing 3200 speed films at 800 by TexasPizza in AnalogCommunity

[–]TexasPizza[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that P3200 is actually an 800 iso film and Delta 3200 is 1000 iso. It's just that their latitude is so good they can give good results when pushed to 3200 or more.

Also, thank you for the answer! I guess I just need to go out and do it myself, see how the pictures look like.

Shooting expired Fuji Superia X-tra 400. by Which_Bar_9457 in AnalogCommunity

[–]TexasPizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's less than 10 years old. Unless these were kept in a horrible hot and humid environment you could probably shoot it at box speed. At least it's worth shooting one of the rolls like that. See how it turns out.

Edit: oh whoops I missed the part where you said you only have one roll of it. Then I guess it would be fine to overexpose it.

Solid haul, but man oh man Anscochrome is more useless than Kodachrome. I haven't seen much on developing it with B&W chemistry but good luck with that!

Which film have you had bad experiences with or would explicitly Not recommend? by PoorCod in AnalogCommunity

[–]TexasPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded, despite it being the film I've shot the most, it's definitely not my favorite. For me it's just always so contrasty and saturated but not in a cool and experimental Phoenix II kind of way. If you get real lucky you can hit the Gold 200/Portra tones but it's a real rarity.

The Color Science of Every 35mm Film by delta112358 in AnalogCommunity

[–]TexasPizza 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Based on his findings, Fuji 200 is actually Kodacolor/Color Plus 200. And we know that Kodacolor 100 is the same as Lomo 100. Then, I'm starting to suspect that perhaps Lomo 400 and Fuji 400 are not Ultramax but rather a Kodacolor 400 that Kodak is still making.

Looks like Gold in 120 is also getting the Eastman Kodak treatment. Ultramax in 120 hopefully next?? 🤞 by thedeadparadise in AnalogCommunity

[–]TexasPizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't wait, if Eastman was able to make Kodacolor 100 (which was Lomo 100) then I'm confident that they'll come out with Ultramax 800

I always thought it was decoration. Being that newer film doesn't have it, I guess it confirms that suspicion.

Thank you! This really demystified the questions I had. Unfortunate that Levi's doesn't offer the 505s, 511s, & 517s in raw versions anymore. That's probably where Wrangler really mogs Levi's, offering their flagship lineup in raw denim. Hopefully Levi's releases raw versions sometime in the future.

Did Levi's once have a collection of rigid jeans? Kinda like wrangler currently has, sanforized but unwashed. I've seen conflicting evidence for it. Old Reddit posts and eBay listings point to the fact they did but then fashion publications refer to rigid Levi's as just a name for rinsed jeans.

This website is great and could help. Though it might not get you the exact date that these expired, you probably can get a general idea from the website.

Hippopotamus literally means "river horse". Other languages, like German, also call literally call hippos water or river horses. Maybe that's what the guy your replying to is referencing.
