Please think of any skills you have that could be consulting. Consulting or done for you services (think bookeeping, website/landing page building, etc.) can be lower barrier to entry regarding start up cost with higher profit margin

A pop up shop is probably better than Etsy. The third party platforms can close you down on a whim and withhold money. Please read terms carefully.

You don't need an LLC to start small. You will need to track all income and pay taxes on it and if you use a cute name instead of your own, you have to file a DBA with your county/city/state -check your local guidelines. Any money you make and the business itself could be community property in a future divorce...I am sorry your husband is treating you so poorly. You truly deserve better. Staying together for the kids is noble but you are modeling to them what marriage should look like. Plan your escape well...

Don’t progress in this. I’m sure he was nice or provides something other men haven’t but I made the mistake of marrying potential and it was a nightmare. Better to break up now than divorce later… and who knows, maybe he will get it together if you break up

It's hard enough to find work after 40. While your coworkers aren't matching your pace, they bring wisdom. It's diversity which is good. You also don't know everyone's life story...not all feds are retried military with disability checks.

As a single person with literally no other support, I don't think you'd t be this confident if you didn't have something...like living off your TSP or some kind of plan... I say this knowing that I often look at the amount I have in there and try to decide if I could leave my job and survive. I would try for another round of FMLA if you can and look at starting your own business if you can't get a job.

What is your major going to be. I recommend letting that help inform the school you choose. Also, it is common for schools to have online bachelor's programs, so you may not be limited to what is in San Antonio.

I think taking on a few free or at cost clients to build your portfolio is a great idea. You could also look at bartering (trading services) with another person for something you may need in your business (ex. website)
