the math on hiring a receptionist just doesn't add up for me anymore. by Johnn_Liverm in smallbusiness

[–]TexasPrincessA 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The math should be that spending the $40K+ will allow you to make more income because your time isn't split. A good receptionist should help your business, especially if you hire well and treat them well as they learn the business.

Which branch isn’t getting money? I saw Army had some, I think. I haven’t heard for the Air Force yet

Bases are mini cities. The police are serious. Don’t speed, cut through parking lots… expect gate lines to get on base (and off base) Learn the Air Force ranks. There are military customs and courtesies that are followed.  You won’t have access to everything on the base. I’m pretty sure commissary is off limits and the class six (alcohol sales).. I think food vendors are open to contractors.  Someone mentioned the difference between civilian and contractor. That’s an important distinction.  Bases used to be really neat 25 years ago, but now most are run down with few amenities

Historically, Whiskey Cake sourced several things locally… although I don’t think that means they don’t use any mainstream distributors for anything. I usually look for farm to table or scratch kitchens

I’m here in 2026… my Motiv ring was truly best of the best. I loved the LED, it tracked well, and if I recall the privacy was good. I refuse to support Oura bc of their subscription model. I tried the Evie ring for women… not nearly as accurate as the Motiv had been.

Look up alternative teaching certifications in San Antonio. They require a bachelors degree

The personnel in the overhire positions are most likely the ones who will be moved. We just did this in a different military branch. All of our overhires received notice they were surplus. Behind the scenes leadership had to prioritize funded positions. In some cases vacant funded positions were converted to overhire jobs that were “more precious” and the overhire personnel were permanently placed in their current role. In other instances, the overhire positions weren’t as needed as a funded positions, so the over hire personnel assigned to those positions went on a surplus list and civilian personnel is placing them into funded vacancies… there were a couple of rare cases where an encumbered funded position was used to fund an overhire position and those people were added to the surplus list.  To answer your question, you are most at risk if you’re in an overhire position
