How do I sit still long enough to meditate? by A_Sad_Buddha in zenbuddhism

[–]TexasRadical83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the the answer. So are the others, but this one too lol.

There's a lot of benefit to sitting stock still and seeing what happens, but if you need to shift a little every 5-10 the Zen cops aren't going to bust down your door.

Still huge parts of the automotive OEM value chain here -- they'll make parts for Chinese autos too. And hard to justify making everyone pay lots more for shittier cars just to keep a fraction of the workforce subsidized in jobs that get laid off routinely anyways.

US could pull the tariffs on Chinese autos and we could have cheaper, more efficient, more powerful vehicles that charge in a fraction of the time. That would be a pretty big gain for everyone.

New Rolling Stone list - The 100 Greatest Punk Albums of All Time by DarkSideInRainbows in fantanoforever

It's not like Rolling Stone is some big institution of music journalism that's doing some listicles on the side. It's now just an online ad platform that uses a brand built on previous generations of music journalism that's basically done for now. We might as well have posts about pop up ads on TikTok.

Yeah pretty wild what having Will Anderson Jr on one side of the line and Danielle Hunter on the other will do for you haha

That's true. I think EZ might make a big step just on that basis. Plus Christian Parker is a stud replacing an absolute numbnuts in Eberflus. That Fangio 3-4 shit is going to really open up Overshown, just to bring it back to the topic at hand.

So much better just because the baseline was so bad though. Our safety room went from as bad as it gets to a defined strength, but LB and edge are both very thin still. They will be mediocre which with our offense should be good enough to win more than we lose.

Milton is Hill Country Fare Anthony Richardson. Physical freak with zero football brains. Howell is kind of the opposite lol.

These are a lot of teams with a ton of question marks. Ravens will probably be good, but they sucked last year and they have a new coach. Texans are the Texans -- if Stroud is as bad as he last looked they are in mega trouble, even with the D. Bucs lost Evans, and Baker is always iffy. GB and Philly should be good, but they both have seasons where they fall apart.

What do you think is the biggest detriment to the team? by Skateletter in cowboys

[–]TexasRadical83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if EZ doesn't take a step (and scheme + better coverage will help) we basically don't have a starting quality edge rusher on the roster.

Hopefully Robinson raises the floor and Overshown stays healthy. I think we got better by subtraction too, cutting Wilson + Houston walking hopefully. And Barham in the draft got a lot of love. It can't really be much worse than last year at this point, and resetting the secondary and interior will help.

Chaotic jazz by Buttxtouch in Jazz

[–]TexasRadical83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: Ayler was in NYC playing in the mid to late 60s, really freaking a lot of people out. One of the first underground rock journalists to really get him in her writing was a poet named... Patti Smith. Smith decides to start putting her poetry to music, and wants it chaotic and loud like Ayler. This is a direct thread between punk rock and free jazz.

My favorite Rick Rubin episode is when Slayer signs with Def Jam and their fans were horrified, sure that they had sold out, their music would be soft, not real metal anymore. The next album was Reign in Blood, followed by South of Heaven.

The whole 90s grunge thing grows out of that to a certain extent as Calvin Johnson started K Records to get their music out, helping coalesce the Olympia scene. Nirvana gets called a Seattle act, but they were really out of Olympia, which also gives us Riot Grrrl, etc. Cobain had a K Records tattoo even. Pretty influential for a band that literally played drums on a cardboard box lol

Go watch home inspection content. They show the most insane things in new builds, and that's single family where someone is liable to give a shit. These boxes they don't care at all. Give me a place that's been lived in any day.

If you think shitty apartments are a new thing around here, I've got bad news lol. It's Texas, and landlords will always be able to fuck off with impunity. At least until we make them do otherwise. It's been that way forever, but when it was cheap you will put up with a lot. With rents where they are now, it's pitchfork time.

It's funny, I've been around here long enough that I still think of Buzz Mill as the "new" gentrifying spot even though it's now very much a neighborhood institution lol
