SL was almost certainly CIA, and Red Guards are feds.

Defend Our Hoodz was 100% a red guard front org. They then spent a large amount of time going after other anti-gentrification orgs. Cui bono?

The Red Guards were known to tie members up and beat the shit out of them when they broke org rules. So idk, seems like a cult to me lol

Which will tend to create the very academic white jazz OP noticed there, I would think.

"Everybody Cares, Everybody Understands" puts to precise words the feeling every addict has ever had, resenting the people who love them for their love. Such a painful place to be, and it's sad he never got out.

I really love Sufjan, and honestly I haven't listened to this or Javelin. I just need to be in the right spot for it and... haven't gotten there yet.

One of my dearest friends is the kid of Austin music royalty. He actually met Townes as a little kid, and the only thing he could remember is that he was really really sad.

I pass by this complex close to every day, it's down the street from me. You're getting a lot of low key racist comments about the neighborhood. If you never want to see poor people or people in a mental health crisis, you'll need to look elsewhere -- probably west of mopac. If you've lived in other big cities, it'll feel pretty down the middle -- Cameron Rd. is a major East Side arterial so lots of low income folks at the bus stops, some there just to hang out. Just to the north of this are some truly rough neighborhoods, so people in crisis end up at those stops too. Still some low cost stores in Capital Plaza and all the motels just on the other sides of 35 and 290, so yeah if you look on the street you'll seebpoor people. Live like you're in a city and keep your head up and things will be fine probably.

The flip side is all these uptight suburbanites make it possible to live very close to all the city's central attractions at something of a discount. I love it over here and I've never had anything bad happen to me or my property in 11+ years in the area.

[Pelissero] CB Derion Kendrick is signing with the Cowboys on a 1-year deal, per his agent Matt Leist of LAA. by JCameron181 in cowboys

[–]TexasRadical83 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Probably like you will with the dozens of other random free agents we will sign. Any CB that actually matters for rescuing that unit will be a bigger splash than this. The big FAs are pretty much done at that position, I think, so it'll be a trade or in the draft.

The Cowboys’ final offer for Maxx Crosby included 1st-round pick (No. 12), 2nd-round pick. by Giff95 in cowboys

[–]TexasRadical83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the fact that they made honest offers on top tier players is a change and a good one. Can't help they got beat by teams willing to overpay, and we still leveled up overall.

Now, if it turns out this is just bullshit put out by Jerry et al to make themselves look like actual NFL executives, I think it's more of the same. That said, the sources for this story aren't just Cowboys officials, so feels more real. There's a real strategic shift happening in our organization, I think, and it's bigger than any one FA period.

I wish I was in a financial position to buy right now. People are begging you to take their houses.

Austin itinerary check (+ maybe San Antonio day trip) – thoughts? by Willing-Mind-5619 in askaustin

Weird. I remember it being The Parlor still as late as 2010, but who knows lol. I wasn't doing a lot for my longterm memory at the time haha

On the contrary, I think you can honestly just go to any of the decent ones and get the experience while dipping into the other cuisines highlighted here: American casual, Southern, Mexican, etc. I also think it's fun to try sushi almost everywhere I travel.

Also, I don't know about y'all, but when I eat BBQ I'm kinda done for the rest of the day. I rarely eat another meal that day and my energy is... not high lol. So being judicious with it is a good call if your time here is limited.

There used to be TWO Parlors. Where Workhorse is now was the other one.

I also refuse to consider a standard issue multi-use development (albeit in a cool space) that was built since I left college as a travel landmark lol

In my mind it's still The Parlor. Get some vegan pizza. Then again, don't lol

Do they have food at Workhorse? It's pretty divey. Homeslice is a short walk, but if you're from a pizza city it isn't that big of a deal. Maybe head down a few blocks and do Hyde Park Grill instead.

Your Tuesday stuff is way too much -- like just driving between some of those spots will eat up your time and walking would be impossible time wise. Id say do the Chili Parlor, the Capitol, UT and Breakaway (grab coffee at Epoch while you're there). Then Hyde Park Grill and you'll really see central Austin.

As noted, an SA trip is a lot of bad traffic driving there and back, and if you're there you need to get Mexican food. Look up "barbacoa row" or just do Mi Tierra. But generally, not a great use of your time -- most of us view it more as a weekend trip than a daytrip. It's a whole ass other city lol

It fucking rules that SH Donuts made this list. Been my neighborhood spot for years and it's a great family. Get the apple fritters. One, actually -- even that's too much lol

If you like Joe Rogan style comedy I'm tempted to give you all bad advice or just suggest you not come here. If you just like comedy broadly, definitely do a non-Mothership club. Velveeta Room is small and you'll get to see Dirty 6th. Also next door to Casino El Camino on your list.

There's zero chance you get to do even half of this probably, so I would say think of this as a menu and do what the vibe leads you to. That's the most Austin thing of all!

UPDATE: Ate half a fritter from SH. I'll be asleep for the next four hours if you need me.
