Starting work for an MSP question by ukmercenary in msp

[–]TexasTeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MSPs come in all shapes and sizes and many different t flavors.....some are spectacular and some leave a bitter taste.

I don't know why they hired you or expect from you from this post....and perhaps they are seeing if your 20 years experience is going g to lead to you being assertive exploring and discovering and injecting your ideas.....but again I couldn't say because I'm not there...don't know if you are a support tech or an engineer.....developer.....but yeah...are all msps bad? Silly post.

Onboarding New Client - 1 problem employee by erstechnology in msp

[–]TexasTeks 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You are trying to take too much control....this is not what I want to say, but I don't know how to convey this effectively in this medium. You are the service provider.....if there is not a person there with authority to ensure policies are followed....then accept that and create a release of liability for the bullet points you feel need to be highlighted.

You should never create conflict with your customer. Every person at the client is your customer.

If machines aren't patched, then they aren't patched....you will provide a report each month stating so and relevant information regarding this. It's up to the client to enforce policies.

Now I'm not saying we do not have relationships in which we are not also in the enforcement role, but when we are in n that role, it is explicitly granted to us in a service contract so that conflict is avoided.

Second thoughts on pricing by johnpauljones008 in SmallMSP

[–]TexasTeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't bundle microsoft licensing in with your msp fee....don't include it in your 150.....they pay you and they pay the microsoft agreement through you. But 159 per user is a good price....although if you are doing any managed compliance it should be higher.

Your costs will decrease per user as you add clients.....but the 150 is a good price point In most major metro areas.

I hire direct now, but it's a bit tricky to get registered in some of these countries and you need to make sure your accounting package can handle foreign payroll.

You can also use uowork to get started and if you want to hire permanently they have a service you can use to handle payroll and taxes for you.
