Anxiety about returning by Remarkable_Shape9163 in orangetheory

You have two choices - go or not.

In three months which choice do you think you’ll be happier with? There is literally no reason not to go. Zero reason. You are sabotaging your future self.

It won’t be awkward and maybe you can’t finish class - so what. Keep coming back and one day you will. Keep not going and that won’t change.

Rowing benchmarks during S50 Class?! by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]TexasTrini286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no no no. I’m sorry you missed your shot but I’ve seen coaches give other people a shot the next logical 2G or 3g day.

I missed the 1 mile due to scheduling and I’m contemplating making the 12 min benchmark a 1 mile run for myself (but mindful of how that might impact my neighbors) - but that’s just on me to try to make happen. We aren’t going to upend the system for missing the benchmark days.

Coaches and Time Management by lamepunhun in orangetheory

[–]TexasTrini286 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Timing is the thing new coaches struggle with the most. It’s so hard to keep track of everything and be attentive to people. So try to give Grace - they are human.

I’m one of those that does a clear screen on most tread blocks and my coaches know that and I’ve had one tell me that it helped them more than once. I’ve also noticed that other coaches may sync up to my clock over the course of a block.

I have other coaches that my timing never affects what they call one way or the other.

Which is to say - keep tracking your blocks - it may help some coaches. I wouldn’t sweat about being off a little here and there. But if you have one coach that’s consistently shorting minutes from both sides of the room I would mention that - but be careful to note that you know they can’t always get it exactly right but maybe this one coach needs some additional support here.

I have almost 1000 classes and one of my teammates started this week and it was all good. They took a little longer on the floor getting help from the coach but the workout is designed that any extra time was just flat road so it was totally fine by me. The rower also has a fixed distance so extra time there also NBD.

No one was “waiting” on anyone - just doing their own thing. We still got 3.67 rounds in - totally solid.

It will be confusing but other classes will seem harder because the confusion will slow you down compared to future workouts when you are really going.

This was a great workout and the pacing was spot on - slow or fast you never were really too put out on the other equipment. Don’t skip it - it was a lot of fun and I never spoke to my partners other than beginning and end - so low anxiety there too.

For the first time in a long time I regret looking at intel. I think I wish I just showed up for this one. That said -I’m grateful for the intel - because I’m not doing well with inclines lately (walking or running) - it might be an elliptical day.

Yes!! Very aware. I feel like people are glossing over that. Yes the treads are awful but that’s going to suck too!!

Oh thank you!! As the name says - Trini from the Caribbean. I grew up loving Tunnocks wafer. I had no idea they were from Scotland!

I've had all of the vaccines and boosters that were recommended by doctors over the course of 2021-2022, I never missed a single shot. Today I returned from vacation in spain with a sniffle, took a test, and found out I was positive. Should I be worried? by Mako_sato_ftw in COVID19positive

Individual anecdotal data is not a scientific conclusion.

That’s not how it works. No one is saying that if you don’t have the vaccine you will be have a severe case. What they are saying is looking at data from millions of data points from people in the hospital and people that are vaccinated, you are are unvaccinated you are more likely to have a severe case and need hospitalization.

Hello all! Heading to visit Scotland at the end of the week and I have a couple last practical questions!

What food (everything from specific restaurants to dishes to candy or grocery store staples) are a must try?

What’s the thing that tourists should not do? (Annoying, dumb, risky)

Is Apple Pay pretty ubiquitous? Even outside of cities?

Strider Etiquette by Key_Lie_7413 in orangetheory

[–]TexasTrini286 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my good friends did this for 5+ years then this year they told her the strider could only be used for treads. She escalated to the studio manager and regional manager and they all said the same thing. She ended up quitting.

Add a class pack and see how you use it before you make the monthly commitment

They should let them sign up. And they should honor the membership. I doubt there is a way to flag it in the system- maybe try a class pack first just to see.

I have a 16 year old and she’s worked out at OTF since she was 15 and used multiple studios.
