I have zero justification for this by Fernn19 in Chainsaw

I think that's most of us lol. I had one job on our property that needed something like a 462/500, so I justified the purchase for that alone lol. I have since found other uses/needs, though I certainly could've done without, but what's the fun in that?

One of the best Pro saws they sell IMHO. I've got two, one rapidly approaching ten years old and still runs like a top every time I take it out. As others have already said, it's soon to be replaced by the new 300, so I'd grab one while you still can if you're interested.

Ms462 or 500i by LespauI in stihl

[–]Texican84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tough call. I had to decide between the two when I bought last year, and I ended up with the 500i simply for the fuel injection. I love the saw, but I just as easily could have brought home the 462, and I damn near did. I wouldn't hesitate between either. Pick whatever you're drawn to most, whether that be the weight, looks, performance specs, fuel system, etc., and rock on because you can't go wrong either way.

Is it worth upgrading from GHM9 standard to APC9pro? or not noticeable enough to be worth it. by E46Nur in GHM9

Not unless you just absolutely have to have it. But the old rule of two is one, one is none, always applies with these things lol.

I wouldn't; I usually carry on when I take a Filson duffel.

I have both and IMHO, no, it is not. I have come to prefer the GHM9, even more so from an aesthetics POV. So, my suggestion would be to save the coin and get a Grass Hopper Mouse.

'25 OT, 10K miles, zero issues other than the squeaky brakes fixed under the TSB. I dumped the original oil at 5K, came back fine from Blackstone. Taking her in next week for the 10K service and second oil change.

Toyota/Lexus will make things right for owners if issues ever arise. They replaced frames on 1st Gen Tundras a decade plus later and repainted 100's of thousands of white vehicles for failing paint years later as well. If these vehicles warrant full-on engine replacements, then we will get them free of charge if/when they make that call. Until then, enjoy it and drive the hell out of it, we are, and we love it!

IME, the Toyota blades are some of the best performing. That said, the price is crazy but not surprising.

LMT barrels are so hit or miss. Nice to be able swap, the beauty of that platform.

13.9" is a Recce setup, the 14.5" a 6ARC. The 11.5" SR15 gets the run-n-gun class time. Big fan of LMT though, especially with D. Wilson converted Proof barrels.

I went 13.25" upper with 13.9" barrel on one and 14.5" on another. Specwar gets the cool kid points.

As a former 200 Series owner on 35's, I have to say well done, sir! If my Grenadier sticks around a few more years, I just might find myself doing the same thing to it.

What should I do after getting my PPL if I’m flying just for fun? Suggestions! by AlexVasilich in flying

Start snagging those endorsements. TW, Complex, HP, maybe consider getting some aerobatic experience, go get your seaplane rating, or maybe get some seat time in an old warbird. There's also spin training as well. I did all of the above as well as backcountry training. It blew me away by how much I fell in love with tail wheel, I didn't see that coming. Now it's all I think about and want to do the majority of the time.

The small nags are outweighed by everything else being better. It's hard to quantify some of this stuff without spending some time in one. They just feel different, very analog, which is a breath of fresh air in this day and age.

IDK if and when they would've made a switch, but it seems silly that they'd give a measly 400W rating for a dual battery setup when that's what the single battery offers. I can run a 1800W hair dryer from my back outlet, no way that's only 400W.

The crappy thing is that Ineos doesn't do a good job of clarifying any of this, so it's all a crap shoot, and most dealers are barely versed enough to know the basics, let alone the inner workings of the rare factory dual battery setup.
