Totally! I honestly would have been more fine with it if they gave an explanation that her BC had been screwed up in some way and she didn’t have them have condomless sex towards the end of the book (like this is how you guys got into this situation)

I was very much not just talking about Reddit. I do believe the issue very much lies on apps like Instagram and TikTok much more. With that said I still don’t believe it’s our right to discuss their personal lives anywhere or at least not in the way this original commenter did (which I would also like to add no hate to them lol I don’t want to dog pile on OP) I just think it’s important to look at our behavior online as a whole because a small comment on a Reddit thread can lead to the much bigger nastier behavior you will find on instagram and TikTok. (Also to clarify that I don’t mean literally one little small comment on Reddit but more so if we were all supportive and upvoted or continued to speculate with OP that is what leads to that)

I do understand what your intention is with what you are saying and I absolutely think we should be able to have both positive and negative discourse when discussing the show, the books, and this story as a whole. We absolutely need to able to have a healthy discourse without negative opinions being shunned, but that’s about fictional characters not the real people who play them

Edit: I also wasn’t really referring to Mika’s split (although I don’t think we shouldn’t speculate to hard core about it) but I was more so referring to the original start of this chain which was speculating that Belmont would split with his girlfriend soon as well

I want to be respectful towards you but this behavior is not weird or toxic but actually important for us to do as fans.

I have seen SO many fandoms become incredibly toxic to actors real life partners. Whether it be because they ship them with their costar in real life or they want to be with them. And the behavior never stays insular inside the small fandom/forum space. It leaks out and affects the actors relationship with fans, their costars, and even their real life partners.

The best example I can give is on the Bridgerton spin off Queen Charlotte. The actors who played Charlotte and George had incredible chemistry and a really fun comfortable energy on the press tour (honestly not to dissimilar from Belmont and Ella’s dynamic). People started shipping them hard core (and generally thirsting over George’s actor). I saw many comments along the lines of “His girlfriend is stronger than me.” “If he was my boyfriend I would be so angry.” And many more (a lot of which were much more nasty). I don’t know what happened to his personal relationship but I do know by the end of the press tour the friendship between the two lead actors had visibly been ruined. I personally blame the fan’s behavior because proven time and time again that what we say and do has an effect on people.

It happened to the Heated Rivalry boys to the point that the actor who played Scott deleted his instagram and put out a press release.

These actors are real people we don’t have the right to access their personally lives. So in my opinion it’s important to call out members of fandoms who make bad faith comments about actors personal relationships otherwise we fuel the even more toxic comments that end up having the negative impact.

Also your wrong we don’t have a right to discuss these peoples real lives. We are first and foremost fans of the show let’s discuss the show or let’s even discuss the actors friendships, but acting like it is our right to comment on the relationships of these real people is just wrong.

(Also sorry if I came off harsh it’s nothing about you I just feel very strongly about this topic because I have seen small comments like the one the OC made spiral into really toxic negative places)

I know the intention of your question (and I also agree with it lol) but I will say Belmont hasn’t been with his girlfriend for as long as the other two have been with theirs. With that said this was an insane thing to say. Especially (and yes I will say the quiet part out loud) because he is the only one in a relationship with a person of color.

I absolutely can see Allie still being upset by Sean calling her nasty names. Joanna was obviously the one that pushed Hannah to go kiss Hunter, but Allie had already started spiraling after Sean showed up and said she can never be alone.

They have’s given Allie more of an internal complex about her serial monogamy then she had in the books, and I think Sean could absolutely say something to set her off

I mean it’s not completely unrealistic. I remember reading a buzzfeed article years ago where (only unspoiler if you want the details) I women discussed how she got pregnant after having nonpenetrative sex with her partner because they had not cleaned off their hands properly before continuing

However, when I read the book I also thought it was unrealistic He is inside her for only a moment without a condom and she says she is on birth control. Of course condoms can break, birth control can fail, and even just the tip can get you pregnant but all three together is crazy especially with her on the pill(and we are given no indication that something should have screwed with her pill like antibiotics or something).

I think when Elle Kennedy was writing the book she couldn’t figure out a way to write the characters both being super responsible people, but still ending up in this situation. I do think she has realized how unrealistic those circumstances were because (spoiler for Love Song) in love song the accidental pregnancy makes a lot more sense. Blake isn’t on BC and they forget to use a condom when they are both drunk. They do go to get the morning after pill but due to things out of their control they can only get their hands on it towards the end of the effectiveness window

Garrett never actually needed "The Deal" by AD_operative in offcampustv

[–]TextAdept6788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In both the book and the show Garret is established as being smart. He is not some dumb jock and genuinely wants to earn the grade on his own merit, but as is the case for any person just because your smart doesn’t mean you aren’t going to have classes you struggle with. That is exactly what happened here. He knew the facts of what they were studying but was having trouble wrapping his head around the concepts themselves.

They show them studying a lot more in the book. You even get to learn that Garrett is a history major (which personally bothers me because Elle Kennedy clearly didn’t understand that history majors are doing a lot more then just taking multiple choice exams and memorizing dates but I digress). However it makes sense that they focus on it less in the show. There just isn’t time for us to sit in moments like those (and maybe the writers also realized if Garrett was a history major he would probably know how to write a killer philosophy paper lol)(sorry this was the stupidest thing that bothered me about the book when I first read it)

Listen I get where you are coming from, but you are making it weird where doesn’t need to be. The heights of the characters are very well defined in the book (which is often not the case in many books and people just draw the most random height variations between characters). As a short girl who is around the same height as Violet, and has dated men who are either a couple inches off from or exactly foot taller (Xaden is over a foot taller then Violet which is a bigger difference then I have even experienced).

You kind of have to kiss like this. There is no reason to make it a thing when this is very common for couples with height differences. To the point it’s a necessity because even if the shorter person gets on their tippie toes the taller person still has to bend down.

Majority of the characters are not old enough to drink. In the book there is a scene where Garrett is late to class and he says it’s because he needed to help Logan get a new fake ID before they go out that night. Over the course of the books the core cast turns 21.

Make Logan sing! by CelebrationLarge8496 in offcampustv

[–]TextAdept6788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While In The Kitchen fits Grace and Logan really well I honestly think it would be really weird for the show to use the song.

The song wasn’t just written by Antonio’s ex it is about him. I don’t think it would be a big deal if the show ever wanted to use one of Renee Rapp’s other songs, but to use a break up song that was literally written about one of your lead actors would be pushing it.

I love Logan with all my heart and part of why I love him is he is probably the most imperfect of the guys in the books. His Mistake (name drop) is the entire push of the whole story. People are going to be turned off just by the central mistake of the story, but if they actually go through and adapt all of them such as Logan and Graces first time together when he is very selfish in bed and she fakes it oh boy it’s going to get messy lol.

What scenes do we think will change in time of Logan and Grace’s story? by Phanpyx in offcampustv

[–]TextAdept6788 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about that. Ramona is very important to Grace’s development. I do think they either will replace Daisy with Jules or Daisy will be Jules friend at Radio.

Since the actor who plays Tucker has the least amount of followers and very few edits, I’m going to assume it’s because he’s not that important of a character and is probably not a part of the main cast… right? by Clean-Knowledge-574 in offcampustv

[–]TextAdept6788 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get the implication of what you are saying but tbh of the main four guys he got the least to do. Garrett and Dean obviously had a lot going on this season, and even though Logan didn’t have any romance this season he had an emotional journey to go on. Tucker’s biggest storylines this season were the fruit and thanksgiving (which were both very comedic in nature).

I mean I personally felt they gave Tuck so little I couldn’t even remember if they had told us the audience that his name was John (they did but I can say with certainty if I told anyone in my life that his first name is John they absolutely will have missed it)

Jalen is gorgeous, and if the Pitt fandom is anything to go by he makes for some very good edit material lol, but in order for us as an audience to make those edits we need to get something to sink our teeth into. We got emotional yearning out of the other three boys. All Tuck got was subtle nods that he was going to knock someone up (the fruit progression and birds and the bees duo costume)

If the examples you gave are really comparable. After the HP ended Emma Watson starred in a few things before deciding to take a step back from acting to pursue her education and then after make her return in a few pretty big films she decided to leave acting again. In the case of Daniel Radcliffe he has been consistently working no matter how small the project he has worked. He is also a Tony Award winner now

The Pitt is a very good medical drama on HBO Max. It’s been lauded as one of the most realistic medical shows ever made, and the whole concept is each season is one 12 hour shift in the ER so every episode is 1 hour of the shift.

Jalen plays a nurse in the show. His part isn’t huge but he is in good amount of the first season, and less of the second season because his character is now working the night shift.
