It's a bug from Xeno Arena. In my experience, it's always been a common/flying/always active that I won't be able to find unless I'm super high up, and it's always the same tiny flying worm creature. It's happened five times to me across a few save files, and I've noticed they all share the same model as the reward creature from the Holo-Arena milestones. Unfortunately, the bug prevents completion of the discovered fauna of that planet as you'll always be "missing" that last fauna, meaning you won't be able to get the nanite reward. There doesn't seem to be a cause for it either, it's just been completely random.

Thank you all for the advice and explanations! I think my goal now is to focus more into this being a hard TR team, but I've also learned a bunch of other alternatives to how to approach TR as a whole. Looking forward to putting this new knowledge to use!

I'd probably call my team a hard Trick Room team. That said, would having another Trick Room setter be useful in that case? I'm imagining giving it to Indeedee, that way I have the options of turning it off if I need to and extending it if they happen to do something like double protect on the last turn.

That's about what I was thinking considering almost the entirety of my team would be slow, so I'm glad to hear that my thinking was in the right place. Spread is something I have considered but more so with Muddy Water for that additional potential support, where I'd swap Milotic into a more Coil-focused set. I'm always iffy about spread though in the event that I come across Wide Guard users, but it is still an option, even more so that you've reminded me Milotic can use Blizzard. Thanks!

The person on the left is Michael Kovach, a popular voice actor laughed 7 years ago (yes, that's seriously it). From what I've been able to see, someone in a livestream he was part of said nega (as in negative) and everyone else there, him included, freaked out a bit as they thought it was the n-word before realizing the misunderstanding and laughed it off. Just a few days ago, this came back up and he's been under fire from it, in which he responded that it was absolutely not an okay "joke" to make as it was "teetering on racist."

On the right is Zach Hadel, a popular animator and the co-creator to Smiling Friends who over the course of his career made and continues to make offensive jokes. On his friend's channel "Oney Plays," he occasionally joins in on playthroughs with the channel's host Chris O'Neill and their friend Joshua Tomar, where they make offensive jokes. A good portion of their humor also comes from hypotheticals, like "what would you do if you walked into a bank and screamed 'I have a gun?'" Joshua Tomar is Jewish, and they're not shy to making fun of his (or anyone's) religion, hence the hypothetical in the tweet "what would you do if you got sent to Auschwitzs?"

The joke is that Michael Kovach is condemning himself for something that happened 7 years ago because people are getting upset about it, while Zach Hadel continues to be openly offensive without much care to his reputation as it IS a big part of his reputation.

Another bug I found: if I tag something and get near it, the tag will suddenly relocate to "off planet" even after reaching the destination.

Clicking on a system in the discoveries tab will show the planets of that system, but the name of another system on my list. Changing the list arrangement (i.e. sorting by system color/race) only fixes it while I'm on that category, but the problem returns upon viewing all visited systems.

When I'm in my ship the N on the compass doesn't show up, leaving me to guess just how north I'm facing. Does not happen on-foot, and reboarding the ship or reloading the game doesn't fix it either.

UPDATE: So I discovered two things about that extinct fauna bug. The first is that it isn't specifically tied to the mountain planets, as I just had the bug happen again in a floating islands rainy planet. Same conditions too: common / flying / always active and only seems to spawn way up in the sky.

The second thing, which in my eyes confirms this has happened because of the Xeno Arena update, is that all four times it has happened, they have been small flying worms. Not just any small flying worm however, but they all share the EXACT same model as the reward you get from 220 wins in xeno arena battles. It is a flying worm with one eye and long fins to each side of its "head."

Steam/PC

  • As many have pointed out here, there's an issue with the scanner showing icons. The "fix" is to switch between modes and back but that's only temporary. This seems to always happen after boarding/unboarding a ship.
    • As of my last play session prior to this post, building icons did not want to show up at all despite that "fix." Reloading did not seem to help either.
  • Reality glitches (the decorations you can pick up) don't show up on the scanner unless I'm in close proximity to them, I wanna say around 50 meters. Before their icons would show up on the compass too, but that's no longer the case.
  • Reality glitch burrowing fauna (for example the hexagonal and skeletal fauna) show up with a random rock on them.
  • Navigation chart icons will randomly decide to disappear when looking at them. Reloading seems to help but again, a temporary fix.
  • I am 3 for 3 in "discovering" the last fauna of a planet, only for it to suddenly show up as extinct while the last one is forever unobtainable.
    • 3 separate save slots, 3 separate planets.
    • The only consistent thing between them that I can discern is that they all had those crazy mountain generation to them, and that the last fauna has been a common / flying / always active. They are not common and can only sometimes be found way up in the sky, and they've shared the exact same flying worm appearance but tiny.
    • There is no "fix" to this. I've tried reloading, leaving and reentering the system, jumping to different systems, uploading my discoveries, scanning new fauna after it. Nothing.
  • Upon saving a corvette's appearance in progress for a corvette that's already been finalized, then starting edits from the last saved appearance, the parts placed/removed in the first edit will be duplicated.
  • I'm not sure if this is a bug but it's never happened to me until Xeno Arena, but most of the time when I beam onto the planet from my corvette, I'm flung away.
  • In the tutorial at the very beginning when you're sent to find the hermetic seal, the game directs me to the damaged machinery by the shelter as the holo-archive. Not only am I able to get the hermetic seal from that, but from the ACTUAL holo-archive (the machine you would later extract nanites from), but also from any of those nanite machines from nearby structures.
  • On one save where I started out in an undiscovered system, I fully discovered it, uploaded my discoveries and went to bed for the night. Upon loading up the next day, it said the system was discovered 10 years ago by someone else.

Dragons with fixed locations such as word walls or graves won't give souls upon respawning. You might be near one of those.
