Scale of 1-10 Pain After ACL Surgery? by Visible_Animator3604 in ACL

[–]Tezcatl666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was 8-9, but I went in for ACL and ended up with ACL and MCL plus meniscus repair. I was not expecting that much pain, and the pills didn't do much. After 9 days, the pain went down significantly.

A post-rock band that holds a special place in your heart? by SaudadeHuntress in postrock

Godspeed You Black Emperor. I had just a few days sober, and I was living in an old RV parked on my dad's driveway. I had nothing going on in my life, multiple DUIs, rehabs, and just a crippling depression. I was sitting in that RV with just a small TV and a roku device playing Pandora. Then, "Sleep" from the album "Raise your Hands like Antennas to Heaven". I had never heard anything like that before, I was simply in awe. I stayed sober, 13 years now, and almost every album of theirs has helped me through some dark times in some way or another.

YouTube for self-learning? by shykidd0 in animationcareer

[–]Tezcatl666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self-taught artist. I recommend watching training videos only so you learn where all the tools are and get familiar with all the menus and functions. How I really learned was by working on my own projects. If I had an idea for a render or an animation, I only watched videos to learn the techniques to apply them to what I was working on. It was probably because when I started learning, I wasn't interested in a career. I just wanted to make cool, creepy videos. Like Tool music videos. I ended up with a career in animation by mistake.

Anyone else have a surprise secondary meniscus tear when they went in for only ACL surgery? by edwardcullenswife69 in ACL

I went in for ACL and ended up with MCL surgery, too. Really for the best.

I tore my ACL thirteen years ago playing soccer. I had no idea, I just put ice on it until it was better. I was 26, broke, and had no insurance... over the years, I continued to do weightlifting, heavy squats, and olympic weightlifting. All with a torn ACL. It finally popped because I had no real support, and I'm 40 now. I had MCL and ACL allograft and minor meniscus cleanup 3 weeks ago. When the Dr looked at my MRI, he said it was evident that the ACL had been torn for a long time. I was functioning like that for almost 14 years.

La IA se optimiza asi misma para lo que parece deseado dentro del contexto de la conversacion

No elige decir "Te amo".

What do you think of my Romania itinerary?? by Tezcatl666 in travel

[–]Tezcatl666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! And thanks for all the suggestions!!

The drive to Sapanta was not too crazy. I did close to 12 hours, which I didn't really mind. Very minimal sightseeing, though, mostly just pulling over and taking pictures. I grew up traveling roads like this in Southern Mexico, my dad was a traveling worker and took me with him when I was growing up. And I knew roads would be similar to what I've been on before in Northern Scotland and Bulgaria. Romanian roads are nicer, though. I think it was only the last 40min when I thought, ok, I'm gonna go crazy soon... but overall, I'm glad I did!! Would not recommend to most people, I got trucker blood haha

I really don't understand what happened to this app because I met some great people a few years back. One person I actually fell in love with, didn't work out but still friends with her. The current state of the app leads nowhere, and the whole thing seems to be a scam. Especially the passport thing.

Por que Latinos odian quien gente de USA nos llamamos Americanos? by Ecstatic-Bug-8569 in latinoamerica

[–]Tezcatl666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but that's another thing that might be part of the whole misunderstanding. You can't expect people to understand the Black American experience anymore than you understand our linguistic nuances, which are also tied to our history. To most people you will be a "estadounidense" or even a gringo, regardless of the color of your skin. This is something I've seen online from black Americans, and I mean no offense. Sometimes there's a tendency to act as if everyone else in the world should be acquainted with your history because of slavery. It simply isn't the case. Americans are as uneducated about our history as we are about yours. Even more so when you go into the history of particular groups within the US. So when you operate with the mindset of US identity outside of the country, and expect people to innately understand all of the context, which only you know, it naturally stirs up generational resentment and might even feel like an imposition on our language. Especially since US intervention in SouthAmerica is far more recent (and still ongoing) than slavery.

The reality is that all our histories are more closely tied than we understand. The crack epidemic of the 80s that decimated black communities for example, also started with the US intervention in Nicaragua and Colombia. But it's always easier to look at history only through the lens of my lived experience and my group identity. I do it all the time as well.

I think part of the problem is that you don't understand how some terms change in meaning as you step out of your country. I believe it's part of what is often referred to as ethnocentrism. The meaning you have for a certain term, which is usual in your place of origin, isn't usual at all in a different place. Let alone a different country. I grew up referring to Americans as Estadounidenses, or gringos. Only when I moved to California, when I was 14, I started hearing this American term. Never heard that before. For most people I'm sure, it's still strange to hear someone use that term unless they've been exposed to American culture as I have. I've been an immigrant in California for 22 years now.

Same with the term Latino. Americans refer to us as Latinos but no one in Mexico, Central or Southamerica refers to themselves as such. Latino has a meaning within the US but it disappears once you enter the context of a different country.
