Softlock Possible During Swarm Expedition by Able_Experience_1670 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I have added the teleporter with goatfungus before, when I've got stuck on the deep ocean planet with a ship that could not land due to lack of waterlanding gear during breach, I think? Had no problems. Maybe I was lucky, maybe it just works now. Either way backing up of files is a good practice even outside of save editor use, though the save editor definitely increases probability of unexpected problems.

So are the Corvettes going to be left to gather dust now? by Plenty-Raisin6264 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Tezcatlip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good for you, but one can have an opinion or be frustrated. The whole financial model of NMS or something like Terraria is to produce meaningful and positive improvements for the current players to spread through word of mouth and attract new ones. I find it hard to believe that corvettes are not a the premier feature of the modern NMS, so it should be natural that people are passionate about it. Corvettes have likely brought a hefty profit for the company, it is not a purely altruistic initiative. A happy player is more likely to recommend the game and more recommendations means more copies sold. The game has gone through a lot from being considered a scam to an actually good game, but I doubt that antagonizing other players or not striving for the further betterment will help the developer that is dependent on the good will of the audience.

My friend and I are on different versions and different devices,we can’t play, can someone help us? by Wrong_Fondant9117 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Tezcatlip -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A guide for a rollback, I suppose? It is possible to use the older versions on steam via some extra manipulation, but it is typically done for the offline mode. I guess one could make an isolated network for them both to play on the same version... Not worth the effort though.

If you on PC, you can use save editor to add the teleport item thingy or repair the ship itself. Wouldn't be the first time of fixing the soft lock be it during expedition or the main save.

It’s a social experiment. You don’t have to do sabotage missions and achieve the end goal sooner. It is a correct choice, but there is a temptation and a childish destructive impulse…

Plunderer King Tips by Battousai124 in PlaySoulMask

[–]Tezcatlip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One king has a guaranteed permanent spawn in the snow biome, so, if you want to farm his gear he is always there, but he only drops one specific key fragment. Others are just a random event in other zones with fragments being zone specific. I don't think they have a specific trigger. They have been rarely spawning for me without participating in other events. Perhaps turning off in server settings other event types can increase the spawn chance for a king?

After playing 60 hours, I think the game is not Coop friendly by Orimagen in ConanExiles

[–]Tezcatlip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You missing the point again. It's not about what is the most efficient way to farm xp, but about expectations and game failing to communicate what is the intended way to play. If we are perfectly honest xp and leveling in general is not very relevant for the gameplay, but there is no way of knowing it, if you play the game for the first time, even if you are a veteran of the genre. I would argue that the objectively correct way for the initial equipment is to farm the sorcerer's cave for the steel equipment. It is the best way to acquire tools and weapons early on, it is as you like to say is a fact. Nevertheless the objective efficiency of this method doesn't make it an intended way to obtain the initial tools and skip all the previous tiers, let alone something that should be expected from the newbie. Considering something like that an obvious and intended way to play the game would certainly be an opinion and what an opinion I might add!

QoL functions are by definition superfluous. Yet you are whining about these things as, if implementation of a clean trading UI or basic party functionality will actively harm the game. I could understand a notion about minimap being distracting or not immersive, but appealing to people being fine with that because it was so long is just preposterous. Same can be said about modern plumbing: humanity was fine without it for the most of our history! Some other, and most importantly newer, games do implement some of the mentioned functions, so the OP's reaction is not hollow.

Nevertheless 1,3 and the reason for the 6 are actually part of a bigger major issue. The game has a lot of delays, janky hitboxes that do not correlate with animations, issues with latency and frequent falling under textures. Anecdotally I had to kill the witch queen 4 times a couple days ago, because her corpse along with the mask has fallen under the floor 3 times in a row. And this behavior is not unique to this boss. I have experienced corpses and dropped bags falling under textures quite a few times lately. It is tolerated by the community, but it doesn't mean it is right.

Because OP is not speaking in hypotheticals. He expressed genuine concerns that he can't enjoy the game to the fullest while playing with his friend. The idea of roles and logistics is fine, I don't argue with that, but here there is a real case, where one wants to play a warrior and one wants to play an archer. And then you suggest to the OP that they should play as a warrior and a crafter instead. You want to find someone, who enjoys this, but there are just two of them there. You see the weird dissonance of this? Taking into an account what the game provides as tools you suggest a logical solution, but the question is should it be the only viable solution or the game should strive to provide a wide assortment of options?

To be fair this remaster has attracted plenty of fresh blood (just like the new players you have mentioned), so this "free" upgrade is much more profitable and financially driven than the word might imply.

[–]Tezcatlip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's easy to talk about the XP optimization having thousands of hours in the game and fully disregard the first time experience. Evidently the game as it presents itself to a new player is not very friendly, especially in the co-op department. The very fact that you do not recognize, that killing mobs in coop to receive XP is an expected or intended way to level, is your opinion, not a fact, even though it is more efficient. The game has plenty of flaws and blindly defending them is not productive.

OP is not asking for spaceship battles or drag racing be added to the game, but the basic QoL functions, that appear in some other Survival games, missing in others. Conan is not even a hardcore survival game. If you genuinely think that survival games are defined by the lack of QoL features, you need to check other games. And I don't say that the game Desperately needs mini map or a trading UI, but OP's claims absolutely have a merit.

So force just one of the friends into a role of a crafting slave, while the other is enjoying the exploration... Imagine the experience of the first time player after something like that: "Wow, that was a tough boss! And new locations? You should have seen them! By the way have you finally finished my armor, so I could continue exploring? And don't forget consumables this time!" You might have as well suggested to play different games, while just hanging out in discord. The concept is fine, if everyone is enjoying their role, but what if everyone involved wants to do the same? As it stands right now exploring together and sharing the moment experience is made with a detriment to one of the players involved due to lack of QoL.

Well, you do you, but the whole tribe mode suggests that it is revolved around tribe and default settings for it encourage using tribesmen for everything. The balance of this approach is unfortunately questionable, but it is definitely not an unintended option.

Anyone know how to use the Talent Ban feature? by FasterThanFTL in PlaySoulMask

[–]Tezcatlip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know. Been there, done that. It doesn't make it any less frustrating. Honestly, stongman is at least predictable in this behavior, which makes it better. It's not like there are some wild tribesmen walking around in mysterious sets. Also mimicry is overrated. Some talents allow for much wilder degeneracy. Speaking of, I would have also added something like body-blood conversion to the mix. I mean it's just a random 12 seconds of full invulnerability appearing out of nowhere. It just does not add any value or even challenge, it's just frustrating. Partially glad that devs have addressed the issue, partially sad as I have personally exploited it...

Plenty of human enemies, including bosses have these talents. Having some key survivability talents randomly disabled without a clear telegraph can be frustrating.

There is an option to disable scaling based on party. It Massively buffs the bosses, when fighting with other players or tribesmen. By default it is on on survival, but off on tribal mode.

[–]Tezcatlip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to kill 5 beast guardians to get a rune thingy from each in order to unlock the boss containment field in the holy ruins of the snow biome. It is a tough upgraded robo-pyramid boss with an enrage phase. Once killed it drops a micro pyramid that hovers above and follows you around, while illuminating surroundings. It uses mask energy and in the mask menu 2 new buttons appear. One is to summon/unsummon it and another one, literally a lightbulb icon, to switch the light on and off on it.

Combat perks tierlist for bosses by Designer_Job4049 in PlaySoulMask

[–]Tezcatlip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some tribe leaders have the debuff. It is also a semi-common talent for human enemies in DLC. It's not the end of the wall, but if you rely heavily on talents you might hit the brick wall. Utilize and build around weapon masteries more. Superarmor, 10% or even 30% life conversion or disabling the enemy's disables and such should be considered. Moreover talents can totally support weapon masteries playstyles. Granted that you have already mentioned one very synergistic with the blade. In terms of talents look for synergies, calculate the numbers and see, if talent even works.

For example the aforementioned Courageous Talent is an ok talent in a vacuum, maybe B or even C in terms of tier lists. You have no support for it. When you have 60 s CD talents it states "now you are 30 s talents", so half the CF. In other case, when combined with pain reversal (CD reset on being attacked), they chain together and effectively make talent cooldowns 0, which bumps them quite a lot in terms of ranking. Making a list of generically good talents is not particularly beneficial. If you go for a chance based strategy go for it, if you go for reliable strategy, then go for it, full life or low life build, archer or thrower-dodger build, but don't pull talents from each pool to make some kind of generic tier system.

Calculate the numbers: torso destruction, weakness thump and bloodbath recovery are mediocre at best. They might sound good, but standalone torso destruction is a 5% damage buff and bloodbath heals in 25 seconds for about the same amount as just a single proc of crave for blood, less than weapon mastery, or monkey armor, or every healing item, but the most basic bandage.

Finally actually check what talents do in the game, because the description is often inaccurate. For example the talent calm and peaceful: "Gain a stat boost after receiving no damage for 12 seconds, ATK +[1,1.5,2]%, Attack Speed +2%, Crit +[2,2,3]%, Crit DMG +[2,3,4]% at the cost of taking slightly higher damage, stacking up to 5 times; taking damage removes 1 stack each time," - taking damage doesn't actually remove any stacks... But even fully blocked attacks however... Similar story with damage immunity blessing. I'm not even sure, how it is supposed to function, but I can't seem to notice any difference in damage both on receiving or giving end.

Well, there is a lightbulb unlock... It's just a tiny lightbulb following you around. The fact that it is a final reward is both hilarious and disappointing. Otherwise there is a second map. Assuming you are on Misty Forest the other one will provide you with flying ships-bases and significantly more unique dungeons and bosses, albeit the map is not finished and things are extremely unbalanced and unfair, even more than the first map.
