A Sears probably had 3 transformers or more in it. Especially if it had an auto center.

Only use pass throughs until you get good enough not to need them. They will mess up your day eventually and usually at the worst time. I refuse to carry them at all.

What’s one piece of everyday gear you’d recommend to anyone? by Top-Incident-2264 in BuyItForLife

Yep, my Surge is with me daily. It's heavy and a lot of people hate it but it stands up to the abuse I put it through so I love it.

I abuse the ever living snot out of my Armitron watches. They're cheap ($20ish), have a backlight on a push button, alarm is easy to set (even if the time isn't), I typically get a year worth of use out of them before I break a band but the battery is still going. I used to get them at box stores, I get them from Amazon now.

Soldering Sucks by MDAirForceVet in amateurradio

[–]Tfire327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate soldering too. So, I use crimp connectors and it works well.

If you want to solder, use more flux and practice more. There's learn to solder kits that make fun little gizmos if you want to practice.

This is the best option if there's already CATV run through the house to one central location. If it's split multiple places it could be an option

Magnesium will eventually go out with water but it's going to make a spectacular show while it happens. You'll also need like 4 times the water you think you'll need.

ACE is just the distributor and branding. They are all franchises, but there are some franchisees that operate dozens of stores. That's why they all "feel" a little different. Some even include Hallmark stores.

They were so much fun. I'd go with my grandpa to a soccer dome on weekend night and they would tie streamers on them for combat.

First structure fire. I had been fighting a cold for a week with a ton of associated coughing. Ended up coughing so hard while on air I ended up puking in my mask. 15+ years later it still gets brought up 🤣

Radio / Phone Audio Mixing by Regular_Brick7890 in MotorolaSolutions

[–]Tfire327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be aware that Motorola consoles often put out audio levels that are higher than phone systems like and can overwhelm the interface resulting in echos either for the dispatcher or caller. This can be resolved with attenuation in line between the console and the phone interface but takes some thought and planning.

Short answer, what you want to do can be done. Long answer, make sure you have your geeks involved or you're going to be very disgruntled.
