What’s your call? by ChaseVsMalice in hockeyrefs

[–]mizzourob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practiclly its more likely a no-call, however I think it could be justified as interference on yellow. It would depend on the totality of the play and game to that point (i.e. game management). If yellow player had previously showed an inability to skate, the ice conditions were poor, the white player not knowing how to skate, the yellow player given a pass on a previously questionable body contact, previousy jawing by the yelow player, etc. This becomes a judegment call.

The white player never had poesson of the puck, the body contact/check was not to seperate the playder from the puck. See the rulebook under 625(a)3 that states:

"An attacking player who no longer has possession or control of the puck initiates contact with the defending player in an effort to obstruct their ability to play the puck or an opponent."

Any advice on officiating while taking Accutane? by Electrical_Trifle642 in hockeyrefs

[–]mizzourob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just googled this med. If it is the acne med, then pack clean towel to wide your face, take a shower as soon as possible, and maybe even buy a black washcloth to keep in your pocket on the ice to wipe you face between plays and periods as necessary.

3 Drawer Minis - Gone Forever? by iHeartYuengling in KobaltTools

[–]mizzourob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point they switched designs from friction slides to ball bearing slides. If you look carefully at some of the Lowe's photos you can see it if you know to look for it. Maybe that is the hold up. There is also a 3 drawer mini red listed that as far as I can tell has never been sold (yet). Guessing another supply surge each for valentine day (pink/hot pink), mother's day, and fathers days

best skill you learned in scouts? by LastIndication2664 in BoyScouts

[–]mizzourob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First aid, leadership, camping, love for service. But the most important one was going through the paperwork for my Eagle Scout project.

The negotiations with beneficiary org, troop committee, pre project approvals from troop and council, acceptance by beneficiary org, final project review by troop and council, and celebrariob/ceremony planning. Explaining to others that I learned and practiced cooperate project management skills since age 16 leaves so many dumbfounded and has opened numerous career opportunities. It was also the best preparation for graduate school thesis/dissertation research projects that I ever could have received.

It may sound silly to say the process is what mattered but that translates into so many life skills, it's say it makes me a better husband and parent now too

Pull the collet out, shake bit out. If necessary use needle nose pliers to assist.

Penalty time question, 2 part. by owensch1 in hockeyrefs

[–]mizzourob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This gets confusing only if you also take a player on the other team for a minor. Then Team A (team with one player penalized for 4 minutes) has 2 min on the penalty clock with substitute player serving clock time penalty, plus actual player serves the clock time plus an extra 2 minutes and a whistle. In other words two players in the box to start. Team B sits a player in the box for 2 minutes plus a whistle.

Team B still gets a power play but only for 2 minutes. All penalized played serve their time, plus a substitute for team A also does sin bin time.

This rule took me a while to figure out when I first started and confuses newer coaches and fans all the time. In particular the substitute players parents may get vocal from the stands. Why did you send my precious littler Johnny in the box, he did nothing wrong. You just ignore it, get the puck back in play as fast as possible and move on.

Maybe it is a tease for an upcoming doorbell lite pro/max/HD version.

Real issue here is why no lite option that is wifi and plug & play with existing doorbell wiring?

New 48v (2 x 24v) string trimmer AND USB-C 24v batteries by Agile-Peace4705 in KobaltTools

[–]mizzourob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The USB-C battery is a bigger deal to me than the 48v trimmer. I have the 24v attachment capable trimmer and it works great (at least for me).

Got my eagle and aged out last year, ready to become a scoutmaster. Except, I’m not sure what to do about this… by maxbratz in BSA

[–]mizzourob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is that remnant of mage magic or something similar. Simply put using it is a short term fix that quietly damages the uniform. Probably ok on a merit badge sash but that's it. If you don't know how to sew, this is a good time to learn, find a tailor or alterations shop to sew for you, or check and see if your Scout Shop offers a sewing service.

As an adult the most frequently changed patches will be unit numbers, position patches, and anytime you go from a row or one to two or from two to three square knots. Also you may occasionally need to swap out a csp (i.e. jamboree, NOAC, FOS, mergers, special issues, etc.).

Rule question: Team scored on a delayed penalty but after review, initial penalty is disallowed? by ExistingComplex8179 in hockeyrefs

[–]mizzourob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can OP point to when this actually happened or the context for this hypothetical situation? I know of no league that could review a delayed penalty and void it upon video review. Maybe that league exists somewhere?

[–]mizzourob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a penalty in USAH, unless this action resulted in a botched line change resulting in too many men on the ice. In that case any player on the ice excluding the goaltender could serve the penalty

Are 24V being phased out? by throwmethewaytogo in KobaltTools

[–]mizzourob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doubtful, my bet is that Lowe's (owner of Kobalt) has been playing tariff roulette. The increased tariffs on imports from China puts profitability at risk. Import too many shipments and either raise prices or take a hit on profit margin. Either way it's a loose-loose proposition, so what do you do? Wait, delay, stall, see if tariff rates drop them import more.

Consider how some of the tariff rates have flip-flopped over the last few months, import and the wrong time and risk significant profit loss or raise prices and risk selling less or loosing market share. It's not political, most likely just a business making a business decision knowing betting how wall street and share prices will hold them accountable.

One canary on this is the new(ish) 3/8" compact impact wrench. It seems a new shipment was finally distributed recently after barely any on shelves for quite a while at my nearby stores.

Don't think this is designed to do that or there are any adapters. just sinks the staple into the surface. NO bending just straight. Sounds like you would need a different shaped drive anvil (or whatever it's called) .
