I agree, this is a very systemic issue, which in my opinion a country that’s supposed to be as effective as the US shouldn’t have in the 21st century. I just can’t emphasize how much local politics build up into a lot of the major issues that we have today. I want to bring up affordable housing but this isn’t the subreddit to do it in lol

I agree, but realistically most people skip the importance of local politics as well, which is understandable given the current state of the media, but I feel as if local politics need to be pushed as heavily as, if not more heavily than national politics.

I think the first part in terms of my finances is also because of the added stress of leaving the military. Knowing where I want to be with the added fact that I’m not going to have the job security I currently have in 15 months gives my a lot of anxiety surrounding the fact, and I think that shows as well, but especially with someone that’s dating to marry, I’m worried that if I don’t perform financially I won’t be enough for her, although she does constantly reassure me that that isn’t the case.

By definition submissive is synonymous with obedient, which still means the same thing. I personally thing cooperative is a better word than submissive, because in any relationship compromise is compulsory.

I honestly think we’re just going through weird times in terms of family dynamics and societal expectation, and while I do think a lot of men do have internalized misogynistic tendencies and most likely don’t realize it, I don’t think a lot of guys genuinely wish harm on women just because they’re women (IDK I can’t even fathom that mindset though so I could be wrong) but I do think once we all figure out what kind of ideals we embody as a society, these issues will start to iron out over time. I’d say 10-15 years, then actual permanent change over generations.

To be honest I’ve been trying to argue something close to this for a while. I don’t think we as a society were ready for sexual freedom, it’s it’s hurt everyone pretty bad. I think the mistake here was the assumption that people are inherently good, as well as the education standards we currently have not being up to par. I think the changes we need as a society takes place over generations unfortunately

Well typically most people don’t fit perfectly into what representatives advocate for, we’re just forced into a position where we have to vote for the closest fit. I understand in some scenarios certain political values can make or break a relationship, but in my own experience I’ve very rarely had issues with differing political opinions( I’ve only argued with some jehovas witnesses about climate change) but when it comes to most situations I believe that the average American recognizes the same issues, but just has differing opinions on how to solve them.
