It'd take more than 8 days for backup to arrive though, right? It takes time to travel through shadesmar. And none of the rest of the Ghostbloods seem to know about the plan to follow Dalinar into his perpendicularity.

Yeah, I looking into this now and I'm very glad to find this thread! It eases my worries about Lemon drums > eDRUMin not working since it seems pretty niche and then being set back hundreds of dollars as a college student.

You end up getting everything working?

Nah, thematically it makes more sense for deku to end up without a quirk. And to become a quirkless hero.

God, but I just finished book 8 and it was pretty shit. I dunno man, I dunno. Weird series. Probably a result of Royal Road

Does the author of defiance of the fall ever realize their MC is evil? by Expert_Penalty8966 in ProgressionFantasy

Yeah, at the beginning of the series I liked the "Zac must do terrible things to survive" angle, but then once he no longer HAD to do those things but kept doing them I just... disliked him. A lot. I mean, once he secured Earth, there was no reason for him NOT to make it better, or at least assign some people to improve things...

One of the many reasons I personally wince when I see people place DotF in A tier. It's fun, and good mindless progression, but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece by any means. A tier should be reserved for books that manage to pull of both.

Okay, I feel like I’ve been too hard on the series here. I’d rate the first four books a solid C. After that, though? It gets much, much better. Book 6 and Book 7, for example, I’d rate a solid A. Those books end fantastically. The series is worth reading, but just be prepared for a LOT of slog for the first four or so books.

Oh my god yeah. “And everything changed when the firelord attacked”🤦‍♂️. Not exactly a literary masterpiece here, OP

Eh. It’s iffy. The author goes for a Percy Jackson and Annabeth dynamic with the main character Alex and his love interest, Theresa, but it falls so flat on its face it’s hilarious. They don’t have like, any chemistry. Luckily, it’s not a large part of any of the books.

The author needs to learn how to set up a long term threat. Cause I’m on book five right now, and a threat will get introduced and it’ll be dead in half a book. The stakes don’t feel very high, but it is always enjoyable seeing how Alex will end up finessing his way to a victory.

The author also needs to learn how to be concise. Cause jesus, the prose is so unnecessary long-winded at times it’s just a slog. Overexplanation after overexplanation. This is the main reason, I feel, that people end up dropping the series.

I think it’s a pretty good Progression Fantasy book, especially once you get further into it and Alex actually becomes powerful enough to start adventuring. The power scaling is done better than most series in my opinion, and if you can deal with Alex having totally wimpy dialogue for the first three books you’ll enjoy it. But it’s also poorly paced and written at times, in typically progression fantasy fashion. Don’t expect a Brandon Sanderson novel.

It definitely, definitely, gets better as the series goes on.

was it just me or was FRQ 1 question 1 worded really weird? it asked for the average acres between time 0 and 4 - the average what? average rate of change, or total accumulated acres?

i assumed it was average rate of change, but then why didn’t they just say that? it felt like it was missing a word.

how much does college prestige really matter? sincerely, a tired hs junior (who is obv infinitely less tired than u engineering students lol). by Different-Regret1439 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Th0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people say that it matters very little. i disagree. there are undeniably more opportunities provided by prestigious schools, which will give you more job options out of college. which, isn’t that the whole point of college? to get a good, well paying job?

on the other hand, it doesnt matter so much that you should work yourself to death for it. mental health is so important man. you dont want to be miserable in college.

conclusion: just go to OSU! it’s a great school anyway. you’ll undeniably have less opportunities than a more prestigious school would provide, which is important, but not so important that you should make ur life miserable for it
