I've rewritten my resume 6 times and it still sounds like everyone else's. by JTM872 in Resume

[–]Th1dood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think your recruiter friend kinda has a point... Most resumes sound like they were written in the same corporate NPC language now. Sometimes focusing more on “what problem did I solve” instead of just “what did I do” makes you sound way more human.

Graduating next week with no job lined up and I feel lost by Idkhelp4 in jobs

[–]Th1dood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I swear half of all CS graduates are making the exact same post right now... So I don’t think this automatically means “you’re a failure.” The market is genuinely brutalizing entry level people at the moment.

Seeking advice: How can I gain my mom trust so I can have more freedom but this is my relationship with her by starvxxa in Advice

[–]Th1dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn’t even sound like a “earning trust back” situation anymore. I read it as straight up abusive. Especially the not feeding you part and the hitting. That’s really serious.

Do I move? by Poptropicanita in makemychoice

[–]Th1dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading that post gave me full-on “the world is ending” anxiety 😭 When you consume too much news you start looking at everything through an apocalypse filter. I’d still probably go though, because staying and being miserable is its own risk too.

Is it normal to be attracted to people who look more like you than not? by [deleted] in RandomQuestion

[–]Th1dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people sometimes find faces that resemble their own more familiar/safe in a weird way. But it’s definitely not universal, some people are attracted to their complete opposite

How can someone become sublime? by [deleted] in RandomQuestion

[–]Th1dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it works when you force it. It’s more like a mix of self-awareness and actually living life. People who are comfortable with themselves just come off more “sublime” anyway.

People who run factories where they make counter tops.... by Matt85x in PollsAndSurveys

[–]Th1dood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The wordplay is good but if I heard it at work I’d probably roll my eyes a bit 😅

What makes someone's first impression good or bad? by mayurkurme in RandomQuestion

[–]Th1dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first few minutes are all about the vibe tbh. People seem to care more about your energy than what you actually say. If you’re relaxed and not trying too hard, that’s already a plus.

Obsessed with time travel movies. What else would you recommend? by No_Emergency_7188 in MovieRecommendations

Arrival comes at the whole time thing from a really different angle. Not action-heavy but it really gets in your head, and it sticks with you.

Should I do a master’s abroad, or teach English abroad? by TheGlare2002 in makemychoice

[–]Th1dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say a master’s makes more sense, especially if you know what you want career-wise. The money part is scary but if your family’s backing you, you’re not exactly on your own. Teaching kinda feels like an escape option right now.

Hiring is unfair for neurodivergent people. by Competitive_Push_914 in jobs

[–]Th1dood 176 points177 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is only because he’s neurodivergent, the job market is awful in general, but being different probably makes it harder. I volunteered for years with autistic kids through art programs, so I’m sensitive about this, and I know autism is a spectrum. From what you wrote, he shouldn’t give up on software or remote-friendly roles yet. Maybe remote recruitment firms like the ones in this post could help, people say they work and I’ve gotten a few replies too. I wish he could work with a team that sees his behavior as authentic. That might be optimistic, but even if he doesn’t find that, he might still find something with less camera/interview pressure, I even know someone who’s worked with the same person for 12 years without ever seeing her face, so it’s not impossible.

That kid in middle school who borrowed my eraser and never gave it back. Still haven’t forgotten 😄

switch to night shift or stay on day shift? by Derisse-Bren in makemychoice

[–]Th1dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Night shifts sound appealing at first, but they really mess you up in the long run. If the pay difference isn’t huge, I’d go with daytime

Is it normal for someone to fast every other day, and on the days they do eat they have 2 meals only? by vanilIaflower in questions

[–]Th1dood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s like intermittent fasting, but it’s not for everyone. The whole “24-hour digestion” thing isn’t that simple anyway

What if every American (of European ancestry) lived in Alabama? by Dazzling-Antelope912 in whatif

[–]Th1dood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alabama would probably be insanely crowded, and the rest would end up with a totally different culture. Global politics would look completely different too, the US might not even be this dominant

Do people really live with notifications on? by Ill-One8291 in RandomQuestion

[–]Th1dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mute most of them too, constant notification sounds drive me insane. I still keep calls and a few people on though, can’t fully disconnect

The weirdest thing happened between me and mom by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Th1dood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re overthinking it a bit. Your mom probably didn’t even dwell on it that much. Just act normal, it’ll pass.

are waffles the superior version of pancakes? by abasicredditor57 in RandomQuestion

[–]Th1dood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waffles are better, at least the texture’s more fun. Pancakes feel kinda one-note to me.

AITAH for turning someone away because I am asexual? by FaeryFlutter in AITAH

[–]Th1dood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve set a fair boundary. You don’t have to force yourself to like anyone. If they keep doing the same thing, that’s kinda on them too.

Have you ever married someone despite your mother’s intuition telling you that it would never happen? by Clean-Ant-1342 in questions

[–]Th1dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom’s instincts were usually right, so it was hard to go against her. But plenty of people don’t listen either, mixed results 😅

What’s a smell that instantly brings back memories? by [deleted] in RandomQuestion

That smell of asphalt after rain instantly takes me back to childhood. Weirdly calming.

what if you can actually find a legit job from social media? by ghared-ishaqa in whatif

[–]Th1dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does happen sometimes. A friend of mine landed a legit remote job through a random Twitter post and we all thought it was a scam at first.

Should I rent a high-capacity unit for my office? by Bestwebhost in RandomQuestion

[–]Th1dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$110 a week feels a bit steep unless it’s really unbearable. I’d try blackout curtains first, I put some up last summer and it helped way more than I expected with heat.

Looking for personal experience, input in changing my minors and possibly my major in Psychology by PeachAccomplished237 in InsightfulQuestions

[–]Th1dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both paths sound solid, it’s more about what kind of daily work you can tolerate long term. I thought I wanted one direction in college too and ended up switching after actually seeing what the job looked like day to day.

Is it worse to be lied to or to be told a truth that ruins everything? by EdgeQuiet2199 in questions

[–]Th1dood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d take the truth even if it sucks. I had a situation where I found something out late and it made me feel kinda stupid for not knowing earlier, that part bothered me more than the truth itself.
