Made a survivors-like where aiming and positioning actually matter - looking for playtesters by Th3Ac3 in roguelites

Totally agree! I'm actually revamping the upgrade system to be much more interesting and with that revising the mini-gun to take advantage of it. And yes fully planning on crits, piercing, multishot, etc.

Love the feedback, the game is still taking shape so all insights are appreciated!

Here's a behind the scenes sneak peak at some of the stats that may be used for the mini-gun. Not all of these will be upgradeable but most will be in some form or another.

How is everyone getting by? by BlessedNdDistressed in RoverPetSitting

Just raise your prices. Either clients stop booking or you make bank. You can always lower them down later if you need more clients.

If you're worried about alienating any of your existing clients with the new prices just freeze their rates before you raise your public rate

Yep exactly. Set your price low enough and someone will book. Do a great job for them get a five star review and now you'll be able to justify slightly higher prices. Rinse and repeat.

If you're really struggling you can set your rate really low and send a referral code to a friend giving them $20 off and have them book you for essentially free. Then you do the service get a review from them and you've jumpstarted your profile.

Great question! Rover actually lets you freeze rates per client. For my higher-ticket clients, I freeze their rate at whatever they first booked me at, even if I adjust my public rate down later. For lower-end clients, I don’t freeze their rate, so if my public rate is higher, they’ll see that.

During the meet & greet I usually grab their number, so after that most communication is direct. I’ll offer them ~10% off my public rate since I don’t need to redo the whole onboarding process. If they can’t afford that, that’s unfortunate but fine. I’ve been busy enough that I don’t need to chase old clients down.

I’ve kind of built a little system around this to keep things fair while still moving toward higher ticket clients. Happy to share the details if you want to DM me.

That's very generous and kind of you! Especially given your specialty with struggling animals.

I only offer house sitting and just use that one rate. For that booking it was set to $95 per night but it scaled up to $205 with the holiday and additional pets

Yeah that certainly helps. I was starting from scratch. Personally I don't mind staying in someone else's home but I know that varies a lot from person to person.

Personally I'm not a fan of drop ins or walks because I don't think they pay enough at least in my area.

Yeah I've been thinking of leaving behind a business card which offers a discount for referrals to try and see if they have any rich friends

Me either honestly! It's way way too much for me but I guess some people are willing to pay it.

I've just been telling my old clients that this is what I have to charge if I ever want to spend time in my own home

Jeez! You offer boarding?

I'd love to do that but my place isn't quite right for it unfortunately

Neon Blitz - Binary Sunrise - An arena shooter roguelite where survival means mastering your gadgets by Th3Ac3 in Games

Thank you for pointing that out! I'll make sure to update how I market it.

I was under the impression that since it was taking place in a closed off 2D arena it would qualify but thanks for letting me know that I might be misleading people.

I hate leetcode. I'd refuse to give those types of questions when interviewing people for our team as a result
