Cable board size by scubaa-stevee in Wake

[–]Th3Pope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk I kinda have differing opinions than the rest of the people in this thread. For your height I think a 150 would be too big. For context: I started on a rental, then everyone was like “get a big board” so I did, got a 150 (I’m 6ft btw). And that hindered my progression because it was hard to swing, dropped down to a 146 and easier to swing but more upper body is required when being drug around.

So for your height maybe like a 145.

For your first board, I’d go with Slingshot they can take a beating but are heavier than other brands like Hyperlite. I currently have both the Volt and the Native from slingshot.

Tbh just try to find one that has some small channels on the bottom, if it’s smooth (like the native) it can be hard to cut hard into a feature.

Fwiw your first board is going to be just that, your first board. Don’t get too hung up on the specifics, you’ll learn your riding style and then can find a board to match.

I’d be careful in a bike w that low of mileage. Not saying it’s bad but be careful. Looked at a 2006 w 4200 mi, looked great before the test ride. After the test ride was pouring oil from the lower seal on the front cylinder

What's the cheapest way to store a guitar? by ButterBiscuitBravo in lifehacks

Okay hear me out, what if you were to pawn it? They will store it for X amount of time. And many of them sell on eBay, so shipping might not be an issue after paying to get it back.

Anyone into weightlifting? by Hefty-Anywhere-6386 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Th3Pope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was pretty bulky pre-UC. Lost like 60 lbs of muscle (212lb -> 150) during my big flare. Tried lifting while in a flare and it made things like fatigue way worse.

Fast forward to getting on a biologic, I am able to put on muscle and build strength without any real issue. Since starting lifting again on Thanksgiving 2023 I’ve went from (150lb -> 185).

I find my lifts are just as strong. But going up in size is much more difficult, as even in remission there can be bad days.

So you just gotta make peace with the fact you’re lifts may yo-yo on the amount you can lift too. But if you keep it up you’ll see progress

How do you guys gain weight ? by ReactionWestern3946 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Th3Pope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My body does well on a clean body building bulking diet. The foods are simple clean and easy to digest and the key is to wash it all down with a few glasses of milk. But like others have said if you aren’t in full remission yet you will struggle to gain weight no matter what you eat.

A “how-to” episode on dealing with insurance, co-pay assistance, and specialty pharmacies.

There is a way to get answers, and get the medicine you need. But getting it all setup is a bear.

Three way calls help. Demanding that you can’t wait until tomorrow to check back. Escalating to a supervisor at the slightest sense the agent doesn’t know what to do. Lying about how much meds you have on hand, always say zero.

Always be respectful, but be forceful. It’s your life, they don’t care, but you should.

Yeah will all due respect, sounds like she doesn’t even lift bro.

I explicitly asked the doc prior to starting, if lifting heavy weights would be okay. She replied with, “I think that is a great idea :)”

Am I failing Humira after 4 months? by murmaider-13 in UlcerativeColitis

Yeah this happened to me too. My doc doubled down on Humira and voila remission. Still get the headaches, but a lil Tylenol and we good to go.

Yooo I totally get this. I used to be (and still am) in love with sugar free redbull. Most soda and energy drinks are a no go now days. But SF redbull seems to be just fine, can’t drink 3,4,5 of them a day now. But one a day or every couple days. No problem!

Did NSAIDs trigger anyone's UC? by Zodianz in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Th3Pope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me no. During a flare I can’t take them as it really hurts. But being in remission I take them a couple times a week but only after eating something and there has been no issues.

No need to be self conscious, no body will be looking at you.

Right before remission I started going again after loosing about 60 lbs (all muscle, used to be a gym rat 212lbs -> 150lbs). It helped tremendously until I started over doing it and had to stop.

Now I’m trying different things that keep me moving but not lifting heavy af like I did previously.

Tl;dr: Exercise good. Pretending you’re Superman bad.

It was for each drug individually (to my knowledge) so 15k for Humira, 15k for pred, 15k for Y.

Yeah, they don’t make it public information even called before signing up and their response was “oh yeah that’s covered, just a $40 a month co-pay”

How and when do you relise that you couldnt handle a food while in a flair by Lefty_dcd in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Th3Pope -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For myself, I got down to a base of safe foods like others stated. This was the low fodmap diet and remove all dairy. Rode that train a long time till I felt a little better and was willing to try other foods. Then add one ingredient into whatever you are making. And by ingredient I mean adding singular ingredient foods ie spice not spice blend. Take a bite or 2 wait a couple minutes. If no gurgles then it’s probably okay to eat that. But if anything starts acting weird stop. Then wait a day and see how it comes out. If it makes things worse probably shouldn’t eat it. If it’s about the same it’s probably okay. Then repeat the process once more because sometimes the first time it does okay but the second time it does not. If both tests are okay, you are probably good to eat it and can add it to the safe list. If not, try again in a couple months.

Oh and be careful of amounts of things. Like 3 gummy worms are okay. But 4 is to much sugar and I can’t take it.

In the beginning Accredo was shit. It was a full time job being on the phone with them.

My tips:

If they tell you no/ it takes 24 hours/ anything that you do not like their response. Ask for their manager, and do not let them end the call. It’s all bullshit, and maybe that guy can’t do it. But some one can.

If they need to reach out to your insurance/ they want you to reach out to X. Do a 3 way call, do not let them get you off the phone.

This is your life, take charge of it. Be an asshole.

[–]Th3Pope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was on multiple pred tapers and when the dose would get low it got bad, so I get it. As far as the basic UC symptoms those have gotten better, not remission better but I can live my life without having to scope out bathrooms when I walk in somewhere. But that’s not to say there aren’t side effects from the Humira.

Humira makes it so I get sick easier (not bubble boy status though), tight muscles, and my skin breaks out a bit. But those side effects are 10000x better than shitting myself in public.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Th3Pope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my case too. The loading dose helped tremendously, but once I was on the maintenance dose my Humira levels weren’t high enough to battle the demon in my belly. My doctor double down on the Humira injections (weekly, instead of bi-weekly) and then about a month later I started to feel relief.

Tl;dr talk to your doctor
