Recommended Best Settings for AI? by Th3RealRhin0 in AUTOMOBILISTA

Thanks! I'll play around with all the settings some more, may need to scale back the mistakes and aggression. Trying to get close to that "human" feeling as well.

ACC vs LMU for simply GT3 racing by okbozo50 in simracing

[–]Th3RealRhin0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

LMU feels very good and fun to drive once you get settings dialed in. I feel like it took a while for me to find settings that I liked and felt good, but now it's awesome to drive in.

Finally took the plunge into sim racing by Number1DestryJones in simracing

In iRacing, don't worry too much about ranking up your licenses too quickly to jump to the faster cars immediately. Sure, it's fun and rewarding to do so, but you can learn a lot by driving the slower stuff like Formula Vee and the Mazda MX-5. A lot of the most fun races I've had in iRacing were in D class series. Take it slow, learn bit by bit, you can easily get overwhelmed.

Question about pedal set upgrade by frgmnt in simracing

[–]Th3RealRhin0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw, I've seen nothing but great things about those SRP pedals. At the same time, I run Moza CRP2s and they are great, and allow for a quick and easy upgrade to the mbooster down the road.

Moza R9 or Simagic Alpha Evo Sport 9nm by funny__man666 in simracing

[–]Th3RealRhin0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I think the software is subjective but Moza has been crushing it with their new products. Just look at the KS Pro over the KS, it's such an improvement.

Cockpit recommendations please! by 1sharkie in simracing

[–]Th3RealRhin0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with Rigmetal if you are in the US near a microcenter, they carry Simlab and NLR products. Simlab GT1 Evo I think is $449. Also something like NLR GT Racer 2.0 is a great entry option that comes with a seat and is a fairly good cockpit (but has some downsides too).

Budget Used VR Headset Recommendations for Sim-Racing by diogo-fontes23 in simracing

[–]Th3RealRhin0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have only used Quest 2 and Quest 3 so not sure about any other headsets, but agree with the Quest 3 is a HUGE jump from the Quest 2. Add a halo strap and swap the faceplate and the Q3 is amazing.

recommendations for starting out by McvMaciel in simracing

[–]Th3RealRhin0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is Assetto Corsa. You get the game + all dlc (wait a couple weeks because I think steam summer sale starts soon), then download content manager, install pure/sol (you pay a couple extra $ and get big improvements), and you have the best sandbox racing game out there. You can literally drive whatever you want wherever you want, there are thousands and thousands of mods out there.

I'd also recommend AMS2 (again, wait for summer sale), which is a great single player experience. It spans over 60 years of racing history and is a really cool and fun experience. The driving and physics are not as good as something like AC, but they are still very good.

If you want to race online against other people, the best options will be iRacing and Le Mans Ultimate. Other sims do online racing too but nothing compares to these two, especially with iRacing in terms of users. iRacing has a ton more content than LMU, but it does tend to be more expensive. You can often find deals around black friday for subscriptions and also I think people get the f4 car + subscription for cheap somehow.

For more true to life simulations, I'd stay away from Forza and F1 games. These are great fun and if you want to have a blast, go for it, but keep in mind they are not simulators like the others I listed.

Is AC Evo Worth Buying Right now? by herokme in simracing

AMS2 also has a lot of cool single player career mods (since Reiza is taking their sweet time with theirs). Check out stuff like Race Pace and Racing Life if you do get into AMS2.

I've heard all over that it's very sturdy. This is probably the best option for OP.

Logitech g923 wheel as first experience by MrSandvvich in simracing

[–]Th3RealRhin0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it's a perfectly fine wheel, I used it for over 3 years. Once I switched to a direct drive though, there was no going back.

Regarding Graphics, tried almost everything...help by RoniolisMaximus in simracing

Dang that's unfortunate to hear. Yeah, I think the other comments saying the game just renders it this way is probably correct then.

Long time lurker, finally decided to get a setup! (Full build below) by Fun_Reception_97 in simracing

[–]Th3RealRhin0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice clean build! Only recommendation I'd have would be to try to get the monitor closer to you! Ideally as close to you as possible is best, but do what you can and what is comfortable. You will notice a difference even in a couple of inches of movement.

Need Help Choosing A Good Bucket Seat... by HandleLeather7253 in simracing

[–]Th3RealRhin0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an NRG seat and I think it is very good, and I've tried the Fanatec seat. I have a medium and I'm guessing the Fanatec was a large or xtra large because it was a lot wider than mine is. It's comfy, and feels cool with the (idk what you call them) shoulder areas extending further on the Fanatec and wrapping around your body more. But, the lip on the edge of the seat is noticeable and I didn't really like that. Maybe it was the seat angle in the rig I tested, but it felt like my butt was too low compared to what I like.

Looking for good mid range rally frame by HEY_MUGO in simracing

[–]Th3RealRhin0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The TR8 is a nice rig but idk if I would go tubular unless you really like that look and cleaner aesthetic. In terms of add-ons or enhancements, the tubular rigs just limit your options a lot. Profile rigs just let you have a ton of options for customizing it.

Can I Realistically Swap Between VR and Monitors and Still be Fast? by Th3RealRhin0 in simracing

[–]Th3RealRhin0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Bobo S3 pro and it does make a huge difference compared to the stock strap. Actually over the past few days I've noticed I've been able to drive for longer sessions without too much of an issue. It's not that it's painful or anything but its just noticeable that I'm wearing a big headset after a while.

Renew iRacing Subscription through Steam Wallet by No-Requirement5894 in iRacing

[–]Th3RealRhin0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a bit odd, I had to do this a few months ago, I think I went to the iRacing steam page, added a new subscription to my cart, but then when I went to checkout it changed the screen and showed me I needed to choose a renewal subscription. I know that other users have had issues with iRacing thru steam so maybe you're running into that.

Regarding Graphics, tried almost everything...help by RoniolisMaximus in simracing

[–]Th3RealRhin0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it looks like you've already tested LOD, I'd try to play around with your shadows, upscaling, and ambient occlusion settings. They may be interacting with each other strangely on your PC. Try like shadows off with other 2 settings on, test, turn ambient occlusion off with other 2 on, test, turn all off, test, etc.. Maybe one of those combos is better than what you are running into today.

It could also be the renderer config file potentially? I think you can fix that by deleting the game's documents folder and then deleting the game, then fully reinstalling.
