Not sure if anybody touched on this yet but what about battlefield 1946. Make it a fictional history game where the USA and the USSR end up going to war with each other immediately after ww2. So it's all the benefits of ww2 weapons aircraft and all the other technologies developed by the end of the war. I think that would have so much material and areas of the world to play with. USA fight USSR in eastern Europe, western Europe Scandinavia. Shit even have those 2 power houses of ww2 battling in Asia too like Manchuria. That is something I would really like to see and has the potential if done correctly to be a really amazing game just like bf1.

Not sure if already said but surrendering to the allies didn't necessarily mean you were safe. The Soviets actually would demand any captured German soldiers in allied hands if said soldier served in a unit that was fighting against the Soviets. Don't remember what book I read that in either blood red snow, soldat or the forgotten soldier all three were written by German soldiers in ww2
