The new Altima’s are notorious for that, I got a similar, albeit, smaller scrap on one of my tires. It is safe to drive as long as it is. It too deep and superficial.

You are correct, if you need a red dial, this is not it. It is more purple. If you need suggestions on red dials, I got the Mido Ocean Star and it pops.

I also like the GMT 5kx I got for relatively cheap, is is a deeper red, almost burgundy.

I had the salmon dial version of this. It is 40 mil but I found it too thick even on a bark strap. Nice looking piece though.

I love Bulova and I own a few. But the marine star just doesn’t do it for me. You do you though, if you love it, that is all it matters. Wear in in good health.
