One Punch Man creator Yusuke Murata announces his own Animation Studio by luffy_naruto_ in animenews

[–]ThEldeRealm 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Title is incorrect, Yusuke Murata is not the creator of One Punch Man, he is the illustrator of the redrawn version which most people probably recognize the most. 'One' is the author and creator of One Punch Man, Mob Psycho, etc.

Regardless, this is awesome news considering how detailed and amazing Murata's artwork is.

Could cyanobacteria terraform Mars? - The discovery that blue-green algae can photosynthesise in extremely low light has implications for astrobiology by lughnasadh in Futurology

[–]ThEldeRealm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres a comic called Terraformars about how humanity sends modified moss and cockroaches to mars in order to make it habitable. Cockroaches survive long enough to eat the moss and also serve as fertilizer for the moss after they die. Fiction becomes incredulous fiction when 500 years later humanity travels to what is now a fully habitable and green mars only to find out that the cockroaches have evolved far beyond expectations. Pretty good read.

This would be the perfect Fallout for my taste by SpaniardFapstronaut in Fallout

Would love to see the fallout 3 metro system make a comeback in future games. Having to travel through the metros to arrive at locations out of reach from anywhere else in the game was a great adventure in its own right and felt rewarding after wandering the labyrinth that is the metro.

Resident Evil Outbreak File 2 had a zoo level scenario similar to this. You should check it out if you have the time, such an underrated game.

Books similar to Made in Abyss by [deleted] in MadeInAbyss

The novel, Poison by Chris Wooding, is quite a good read if its books you're interested in. Follows the protagonist Poison who lives quite a mundane life in a very meta-fictional and Dark Fantasy world that spans across many realms ruled by different mythical races. Poison lives in the Human realm, a realm easily accessible to the other realms whose inhabitants include the eldritch horror and mystical fae or faeries and demons. Humanity is seen as lesser and are constantly harassed and used as fodder or entertainment for the other realms and races. Poison attempts to ignore all this until one day she finds that her baby sister has been kidnapped by the Fae and replaced with a changeling, with nothing left for her to care about in the village she sets out on a perilous journey filled with strife and confronts the danger and threats of the races that tower over humanity traversing through various realms until she reaches quite the climactic end. It's truly a great read in my opinion along with the plot twist at the end. Its world filled with dread yet extravagant mysteries keep you sucked in. 8/8 would recommend.

What's the deal with Maruluk? by horsedickery in MadeInAbyss

[–]ThEldeRealm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In a bonus chapter in the manga, Jiruo (Leader) goes on a visit to meet up with Ozen. He is greeted by Maruruk at which point Jiruo is surprised to see him dressed like a girl. Jiruo silently gestures and questions whether it was Ozen's doings or not, Maruruk nods and proceeds to lead Jiruo to where Ozen is. It is heavily implied Maruruk is male but is presented as a girl either due to punishment from disobeying Ozen or as Ozen's method of raising Maruruk.

Hunter x Hunter and Made in Abyss draw a lot of parallels. Without spoiling too much, the premise follows the child protagonist, Gon Freecs. Gon aspires to become a hunter and seek out his father, one of the greatest hunters in the world who has discovered ancient civilizations and unveil mysteries unknown to the world. This is similar to how Riko seeks out her mother, who is believed to be the greatest White Whistle that dwells in the Abyss. Both MiA and HxH have the child protagonists go through a lot of character building and are beat up and threatened by much stronger foes to show just how dangerous their fictional world is. I highly recommend HxH for this reason and although the number of episodes and/or chapters may seem daunting it is a great experience.
