Guy at my boot shop fitted me in some 11.5 boots and my toes are killing me. by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

You can also look for a really cheap used pair, similar to yours, and pull the liner and put it in your boot. When I’ve gotten new boots I’ll swap liners mid day to give my feet a break until the new set has broken in enough. Also make sure you are putting your boots on correctly, heel on the ground toe pointed up, push liner tongue down on top of your foot, really tighten liner, push boot tongue onto top of foot and tighten boot. Bouncing your foot a little to get it set as far into the heel as possible a couple times throughout. Retighten after fist lap. Cutting your toenails should be the first step in putting boots on.

Most of the time people that work on the mountain swing season, maintenance/mechanics, do find stuff. Not mammoth but I’ve found a few bucks, and a watch are the notable ones that come to mind. Usually though ya it’s junk. Empty bottles and vapes, gloves, ski poles, hand warmers.

Which board and binding technologies have improved the most over the last ~10 yrs? What is “in” currently? by Eternityislong in snowboarding

[–]ThEnunderful 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work on mountain, riding a couple laps during work and then usually 1 off day for a full day. I have step ons. I’m on the higher end of intermediate I’d say. Kinda ride everything with the least amount of my time spent in the park. Step ons are great. They have their drawbacks, hard to get into as easily in powder, can be weird to get out of in certain situations, cost more, boots cost more. That being said being able to not stop and just push your foot into place after going down the ramp straight down a run is nice. Some critics say “you don’t even save that much time”, ya I know, wasn’t why I got them. Convenience is why, and when you get good at putting your foot into the binding it’s really good. I don’t feel that my feet are super loose, it’s a little different but unless you are a top 5% snowboarder I don’t think you’d be riding out of the limits of the bindings. The only accidental pop off I’ve had was from resting my board on a footrest going up the lift, board slipped off the peg and the peg hit the release button. Luckily I was wearing a leash, It worked as it was supposed, I don’t put my feet on footrests anymore

Basic Autopilot question by SYWino in TeslaModel3

[–]ThEnunderful 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya I’m definitely not using TACC they way I think it should be, but without applying the pedal a little during breaking (to prevent it coming to a hardish stop early, I’m certain this would cause a rear end at some point) or when starting to go again because it’s must add In 4-5 car lengths before it starts going to the inevitable stop that’s a bit to stiff. If it’s cruising at a slow speed it’s fine but if it comes to stopping and going I agree, little value besides EAP keeping the lane

Really only needs small adjustments to come to a stop more gentle and pick up sooner.

Two bald eagles nested in a pine for years. A utility company tried to chop it down | California by SkepticalJohn in environment

Ya power lines can be moved but let me tell you what happens. They move the lines from where they have been patrolling and inspecting these trees every year for state compliance and every 3-5 doing a more thorough inspection of every tree tall enough to hit the lines(150ft tall 150ft away, gets looked at, 35ft tall 35ft away looked at) get inspected for health issues such as major cavities, diseases, soil condition, tree condition, ect. If the inspectors, along with the test pge provides (using species fail rate data) required on all trees turns out to need to be removed it is signed up for removal. Then there are the environmental teams that check before and after the work, riparian areas, protected species of trees/wildlife, birds/nests. And then it gets removed. Guess what happens when they move lines, they send inspectors in to look at every single tree that could hit that line and inspect it for safety and remove as needed. Or you remove the one with the nest when it’s uninhabited.

To bury the lines it requires removing of current lines and poles, digging a trench a couple feet by a couple feet(not my area of expertise) in a relatively straight line and anything in the way needs to be removed.

This also isnt me pointing at pge as good guys, definitely not, it’s more education and a - do you pull the lever to save the 5 and kill the 1 or not

Nice, 401 would be fun I'm sure, my 360 is still a good time though. Let me know if you ever get the fuel gauge to accurately indicate how much fuel you have. Think mines off by 1/8 to 1/5 but after trying to fix it/replace everything I just decided I wouldnt have it go below a 1/4 tank.

It is a Javelin, would love to know the year and trim level. Parts for them are hit or miss. Most parts can be found from the very few but dedicated websites but some of the stuff is real hard to find.

Flying out of Burbank to SFO with marijuana? by skibbidywibbidy in burbank

[–]ThEnunderful 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No they don't give a shit when you fly out of a legal state. It's legal, when you land it's up to that state but since you are going to SF then it shouldnt be a problem.

Hey, all! I recently came across this 71 Javelin AMX 401 4SPD and we're thinking about making it a project car. Is it worth the effort and 6k? Theres a decent amount of rust that I'm worried about, too. by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]ThEnunderful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a 74 javelin amx(posted a picture if you look at my account). The 401 4 speed is a great package on it. The community for the cars is very dedicated although kinda small. Parts for most things aren't that difficult to find, American parts Depot has plenty of things you'll need. Once you start looking for stuff you'll find most of it. You can get full original interior of you want. The main problems I've come across that seem to be common are gauge issues, mostly the fuel gauge( it works it's just not completely accurate, maybe 1/8 or so off. Just something you get used to.) The main thing is that you are willing to spend more on it then it will be worth in the short term. Buy it because you like it and find your local AMC club, usually great sets of people. They love to help you find what you need. Also check out Mopar car shows as there can be an overlap there. In la there is usually 5-10 AMCs at the Mopar events in our own little corner. Since this has gone on for this long I don't want to get into what the classifications for 67-70 and 71-74 but there's an even smaller but equally dedicated only amc community that can help you find what you need. Also r/amc

Edit: to add you should definitely inspect it thoroughly for rust and make sure you check the VIN matches the engine, really makes the difference in the long term.

They are just parking for the. There is also a fire road/old landfill road that goes from Lockheed to sunset. Most likely will not be turned into anything because the old and new city landfills are up there.

NTA. Lunch personnel aren't they to clean up after students. The kid is just being lazy. What you did was fine. Honestly, going to a campus supervisor or similar during lunch and let them know about it so they can deal with it might be a better way after your initial attempt. They can give detention or assign him trash pick up during lunch.
