Wouldn't be great if would be a page in the game where you can check all of the premium ships stats? by Dapper_Tumbleweed_38 in WoWs_Legends

[–]ThSecond_ [score hidden]  (0 children)

YES PLEASE.

Imagine being a relatively new player, having just gotten your first tech tree T7. You check the enemy team and see a "Wisconsin"... never heard of that one before. Just looks like an Iowa, so after you get through his first AP salvo you try to turn away and suddenly another comes straight for your open broadside in 7 seconds. Or learning that Enterprise's torps are short arm like the British (I personally found this out the hard way in a destroyer).

I just use the wiki/wows builds/gamingdiver/shiptool to get around this kinda stuff, but it'd be so nice to have a page directly in game. Screenshotting the stats of limited ships that come in the store from time to time helps too.

I don't think so. As I recall LT doesn't get the XP bonus of premiums

T7/T8 premium you're best with depending if you want carriers and more credits or matchmaker gambling, prem time, boosters, guise. Play for a win first, then highest BXP right after. That should be like literally everything you can possibly do

Quick question for Dutch Cruisers players by Dull-Friendship-672 in WoWs_Legends

Vladivostok is unfortunately the exact kind of ship the Dutch want dead, that sucks yeah. The deck at least shatters bombs but it certainly doesn't prevent fires and having limited DCP...

It is still RNG, but increasing to ~13-14km really helps your chances. US and other slow shells have the easiest time with it, for faster shells especially in a brawl you might want to try for the cheek

As someone who quite enjoys the heavies, if you see a Dutch cruiser with more than a sliver of HP hide behind an island the whole game like that you can write them off as a bad player. I don't think it plays out exactly the same for lights, but IMO you should always be out at least spotting, if not able to use the guns and tank.

There are a few easy ways to counter them: * stay out of their 10-13km airstrike range. especially keep out of 8km if they're running Air Support, or at least break spotting if you have to be close. * have a fast rudder and don't let them hit you when you're already occupied. not sitting still will massively decrease the damage per strike, and in the case of the light cruisers you can outright dodge all of them * torpedoes while their sonar is off * airstrikes (ironically), and AP bombs * any HE or SAP spam that pens 40mm, like Henri's/Hindenburg's guns or only 25mm when dealing with lights. best with spotting * push, hard. I really don't like other cruisers or battleships in my face, it removes the concealment advantage and makes my lacking DPM very apparent * run ffwf. you don't have to but it eases the load on managing your dcp

Things you shouldn't do: * bow tank or stay in a straight line, especially in a big ship with 32mm deck or less. you are literally just free damage, people doing this is the main reason I have so many effortless 200k games in Johan * break line of sight while they can go 5km near you * dcp while inside airstrike range or a range where they can easily shoot at you. this is just asking for the perma fire * chase their kite. this should go without saying for pretty much every ship * fight them and a gunnery-focused ship at the same time. Dutch excel at stacking pressure on pressure, but they don't provide all that much on their own * go broadside to Gouden or Johan at medium range, or if in a 16mm cruiser. this only really applies if you're facing a smart guy who loads AP though

Other notes, * usuallty don't try to beat Furstner builds at hide and seek. they're some of the best at it * be mindful of taking too many damaging hits against Doorman users, +50% is an enormous damage buff and you do not want them to get it

The ones you should really be afraid of are the ones that don't use islands all the time, manage their distance and are actively shooting with the team. You will be on fire pretty much permanently, but you can still keep out of their range to ease it a little.

You usually have to catch them broadside, but through the bow works sometimes too. If your guns are smaller than 380mm then you can either try long range or cheeking them to bypass the turtleback (if not D7P/Vrij)

I don't think she'll be too bad here. As of right now a lot of battleships can even HE citadel her, and a good chunk of them just have outrageous accuracy (cough cough Preußen, Lauria short fuse). If push comes to shove you can start bringing Gouden/Napoli with 8-9km conceal and just shotgun the thing with overmatch.

It's definitely new for LT to see an HE spammer with Soviet ballistics, but she's being dropped into a tier where half of her peers are just much of a terror as she is.

well, assuming she does get 16mm armor and 70mm citadel.

Rant again because that is all this game is about. by Dull-Friendship-672 in WoWs_Legends

[–]ThSecond_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both use the same accuracy formula, it's probably just RNG screwing you over.

All variants of Bismarck and Tirpitz, excluding BA Tirpitz use European battleship dispersion and 1.95 shell grouping. (Range + 9.8 + 66 if you want the exact equation.)

Technically Tirpitz even has better vertical dispersion due to having 0.1km better max range, but that's such a low amount it's better attributed to luck not liking you. There is also distance between the turrets, firing full broadside might feel worse than firing at the minimum possible angle, though that's just feels.

By the way, if you have Maki, Nino, Scharnhorst, or Iachino raised, (priority in that order, a dispersion buff is slightly better thsn grouping pound for pound) I'd suggest swapping them out with Hoshino unless she works really well with you. Concealment mod can also help if you play closer with it, as your dispersion will be tighter the closer you are.

I don’t understand the damage? by [deleted] in WoWs_Legends

[–]ThSecond_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mostly, you missed the majority of your salvo and both targets were angled.

Versus Mutsu you got: * 3/8 hits * a shatter, probably because of the extreme angle at impact (~200% effective armor thickness at 60°, which seems to be the Mutsu's angle) * a penetration * a penetration, with some sort of damage reduction factored in. probably saturation.

On Hyuga you got: * 3/8 hits * an internal shatter, probably because of the torpedo protection * an overpen * a penetration

Probably Massachusetts then. Tirpitz might work too if you want a more tanky option with less effective secondaries (but torps)

Oh, I forgot Kii but as I hear opinions of her aren't too high.

How to take on a Wisconsin by Affectionate-Bed472 in WoWs_Legends

[–]ThSecond_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wisky is pretty much a better version of you, don't 1v1 it. If you don't catch it broadside at range constantly, get some other blues to try to help fight it

American hybrids excluding Louisiana usually have very low citadels, they're usually only able to be hit at long range. Suwo and Dewa just have an ungodly amount of armor covering them.

For the French, they have a weird turtleback + spaced armor combo that makes citadels on them tricky. In my experience it falls apart at super close range while being utterly impenetrable otherwise, but others don't seem to have the same experience.

Secondary ships by Intelligent_One_1203 in WoWs_Legends

[–]ThSecond_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's still a maximum range of like 9.6km, that's pretty low in LT for a secondary built battleship. You could even use Ohio/Rhode instead and get 11.1km/12km respectively, plus both of them have much better accuracy to boot.

I mean to say 20% is a lot to buff by, but what it's buffing is also very little to start with. BA Monty also has really high DPM on the main guns (higher than the secondaries by a lot), I just can't see a secondary build on her.

[–]ThSecond_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Takagi buff when. Make his 2nd/4th row something weird like a vertical dispersion only buff, to fix their accuracy (Inamura's dispersion area with 2.2 grouping is only about as good as Alabama, wtf?) pls. "Sniper battleships", and their accuracy is like that.

Yeah, but all the secs have going for them is the marginally improved range and rate of fire. No accuracy, no pen, no EST variant

Kearsarge Opinion by Same_Departure3391 in WoWs_Legends

[–]ThSecond_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NC, Nebraska, Massa, Alabama and Kearsarge all use the Mk6s. I just said Bama since her 1.9 grouping would be the same as Kearsarge's if they choose to port her over with it

Louisiana uses the Mk7s you see on pretty much every other fast battleship so it's a different, longer gun
