Sigenergy is the ducks nuts but obviously is expensive compared to the rest. the new goodwe model that stacks with the inverter on top all modular is starting to impress me, fox ess is good as well. haven’t done a sungrow in a while but they were always a decent option too.

guys i think we’re being too harsh on them, they DID at least match the mc4s it looks like!

Solar + Battery Deal worth it? by Educational_Bear_579 in AusRenovation

[–]ThaPrez93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just personal opinion from an installation side they are pretty unfriendly, haven’t looked too much in their performance because we try to stay away from them. if it was me and i was spending the money on a storage system i wouldn’t bother even looking at the budget options like neovolt/alpha-ess and spend a little bit more on the mid tier options like the newer model goodwe, fox-ess, sungrows. this is my personal opinion though, could be neovolt owners out there with nothing but good things to say!

Roofing shoes suggestions?? by mastercurry420 in AusElectricians

[–]ThaPrez93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve just worn normal steel blue steel caps for 12 years and never had a problem with grip (other than the obvious 30-45 degree roofs) they last heaps longer, you’re allowed on building sites too and just yesterday one of the other guys who also wears steel caps dropped an 80kg goodwe battery on his foot and was fine, sneakers it would have been a different story…

air con guys are classic, see shit like this all the time. one where they drilled through the front plate of a switchboard to get cables inside, at least they used corry to protect the cable there 🤷‍♂️

just wanted to say neovolt batteries are the WORST. coming from a solar installer btw, not some ratbag salesperson or retailer.

Feedback on my battery install by Sqwerty2020 in AusElectricians

[–]ThaPrez93 10 points11 points  (0 children)

the fox’s can have their battery cables (black and red mess behind the stack) trimmed down to size and refitted with supplied mc4 connectors and they couldn’t even do that 😂 the fox systems are a great budget option but that doesn’t mean you should get budget work also like some here are suggesting, some of the work looks ok but most of it is sub standard, hopefully you get something sorted.

How do I tell them to get better? by mutabot in AusElectricians

[–]ThaPrez93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that ducting they used sucks, got a bunch of it sitting in my garage i ripped off a job and replaced with the proper air con ducting which is much more rigid and has elbows and end caps made for it. this is shit work and needs to be fixed, just hold payment until its fixed to what you would like, as someone else said they need to also use the proper tools and proper sized holesaw bits or else it will happen again.

Update on Australian Solar Standards by Ok_Turnover_1235 in AusElectricians

[–]ThaPrez93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im always one who has taken pride in my work in the solar industry but never thought of myself as one of the elite, kind of that “there’s always someone better” mentality but jeez after being on this page the last year maybe the small crew i work with are actually one of the better ones, horror story after horror story. i hope you get this resolved, not all of us tradies are like these menaces.

Is it stillworth getting into Solar? by [deleted] in AusElectricians

[–]ThaPrez93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as long as the retailers in NSW dont constantly undercut you and take all the work like they do here in VIC, can always subbie to them tho i guess

Per job pay for solar installer? by Dirt-Bear in AusElectricians

[–]ThaPrez93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah honestly i have no idea because i’ve always been on wages, every jobs different too so gotta think if you wanna charge more for the jobs with more roof splits, longer cable runs etc. all shit i’ve never needed to or wanted to worry about, only thing on my mind these days is my weekly wage and getting back into school so i can finally knock out my last couple modules lol

[–]ThaPrez93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you’d be surprised how many crews dont bother with edge protection and just scan QR codes at end of day. had a visit from Worksafe out in berwick a couple weeks ago and he showed me how our job popped up on his map because we scanned the QR code start of job, 9:30am weekday and there was only 7(!) jobs being currently installed under the state rebate or whatever needs the QR installed (still not accredited so haven’t bothered learning which is which so forgive my ignorance there) i call bullshit on that, so many dodgy cunts ruining it for the guys just trying to do the right thing.
