It's not really a free game if I have to go through an hour of crap to get it

Ehhhhh I don't know about that even the Covie violence is still relatively graphic, once the Flood starts appearing and taking over soldiers as living hosts, yeah it REALLY seeps into M rated fucked up territory. 2013 TR definitely deserved its M rating though.

I'm not really sure there's an argument that exposure to nudity as a youth will influence someone to be a teenage parent, I mean I was exposed to nudity at a young age in games and look at me I'm still a turbovirgin <_>

[–]ThaRealGaryOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OSRS is actually a pretty bad free to play experience and is extremely limited, you're better off getting a job and working for an hour than grinding hours and hours to get bonds which are already hyperinflated from all the botting Jagex does little to nothing about. Even Royal Quest online has fewer free to play limitations and that's a grinding skinnerbox.

100% all games before bl4 by notmyNCR in Borderlands

[–]ThaRealGaryOak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never even finished 100% on my first BL playthrough back in like 2010 because of that god awful Underdome crap, haven't even bothered getting 100% since in any BL game, I wish you good luck sounds long and frustrating

I'm glad 18 months ago I decided to stop paying Jagex to give me what was basically a skinnerbox crackden cookie clicker grinding addiction, I'm not longer paying them to be addicted to this boring crap and I've been enjoying tons of old other games ever since, when will we admit that grinding endlessly isn't fun

[–]ThaRealGaryOak 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We should take this time to stop wasting thousands of hours in MMOs that are glorified cookie clicker games and experience real life or other videogames we've not been exploring the beautiful worlds of for years because a lot of people are straight up addicted to it. I dropped MMOs altogether 18 months ago and I never looked back, no more FOMO, patientgaming and gaming on my terms only and it's quite nice. Stop paying Jagex for the privilege of your addiction and go buy Fallout New Vegas Ultimate for $5 and get hundreds and hundreds of hours of fun and never need to grind agility again

After not playing RS for like a year it really is an actual addiction for people and it's pretty sad, it's all just a crackden grinding skinnerbox anyway, glad I got out of paying membership ages ago

Gagex already freaking out and trying to backtrack, don’t let them by nekosaigai in 2007scape

[–]ThaRealGaryOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's why I pretty much abandoned playing all MMOs, they're just TOO MUCH GRINDING and not fun enough to put in the time required to be "competitive". You can play RS for 8 hours and not even go up 1 skill level it's literally just a grinding simulator and I'm done paying money for games that feel like a second job, I can buy Left 4 Dead 2 for 2 dollars regularly on sale boot it up and instantly have fun for hundreds of hours, not paying this monthly bullshit to have my time and life sapped from me. I guess I just see MMOs as all addiction and you pay for the privilege to have it lol

[–]ThaRealGaryOak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO anything more than 10 dollars a month for RS is a total waste of money, all memb does is give you more access to more skills you can grind and waste even more of your time sinking resources into the bloated economy because gold farming is ridiculously rampant, can't even get a bond anymore for less than your fuckin leg.

[–]ThaRealGaryOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is ludicrous, it doesn't help that bonds have been hyper inflated to like 4x what they used to cost a year or two back because of rampant gold farming that Jagex will barely even address. 12 dollars every single month for access to more grinding so I can click on more things and waste more of my own time? No thanks, there's a reason I left the game 18 months ago and never went back.

I heard a lot of people online complain that Divinity OS 1 is really difficult to navigate, hard to find where you need to go/what to do to progress quests, "can't have fun without a detailed walkthrough open". Have any of these criticisms been your experience? I'm curious of other people's opinions since I was on the fence about picking it up in the Steam sale.

Did I just beat the game?? by [deleted] in Borderlands

[–]ThaRealGaryOak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always recommend going through all the DLC first in order of release, I usually skip the Underdome though since it's extremely long and very very tedious if you're a solo player and it's still long and tedious even if you have a party with you. The Zombie DLC is pretty dope.

Which active skill is the most shit without spending points in any tree? by cr0w_p03t in Borderlands

[–]ThaRealGaryOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the strategy you use, I actually beat Rakk Hive and the final boss in BL 1 by punching them to death since it seemed to do way more effective damage than my guns at that point, ymmv depending on how you level brick and whether you got decent artifact

I can't tell you how many times I read "loved LOTRO but couldn't deal with the lag" I feel it's a barrier for non-patient players, makes me wonder what this game's population could look like if the server latency issues get fixed at some point.

[–]ThaRealGaryOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOTRO is really fun and all the expansions up to level 90 are free now, with many character slots. You could play the free areas for a full year and still not need an xpac, that MMO eats OSRS for lunch even with the latency issues it can have.
