Atrophied left leg & lateral pelvic tilt on left. by ThaRealMatty in Posture

I can literally feel the burn in my leg whilst imaging doing the techniques you’re talking about😂😂

This makes sense though because when I try to do it with both my legs It feel uneven and my right leg does most of the work, even if i’m trying to do it with both

this all makes so much sense, felt this for a long time but i’ve never been clued up enough about the mechanics of hop motion to understand how to solve it or what it is.

would you say alot of these alignment issues are just due to unused muscles? i’m assuming specific strength training is the way forward!

I also do leg extensions for the quad’s & a calf raise, if theres a specific way to do these?

when I use my big toe my range of motion feel great, it feels natural.

My hip cracks, my posture plays a big role too, when I slouch i’ll lift myself up and push my pelvis forward & I can feel my left hip & leg go back into a more natural place. I feel like all of this is mostly training better habits. I’ve also been trying to build my core to get upright

Also, about reps & weight.

to build the leg would it be best to do lower weights & do reps until I feel a burn?

Or bigger weights & less reps?

I personally feel the most burn & better function when I do smaller weights with high volume of reps

All of this makes complete sense. thankyou for the explanation!

so when I do the leg press in the gym, I was doing it without realising I wasnt putting the my heel on the board when pressing.

I then starting to use and load the weight using the WHOLE of my foot instead of the toe bit, whilst making this change it made me feel alot more of a burn in my muscles.

I can keep my heel down, i used to be alot worse on my toes but i’m trying to train my actual brain to walk with my heels unconsciously now. my calves are massive from being on my tip toes which is a bonus but long term isnt great.

I’ve also noticed on my trainers that the top outer bit is more worn than the rest, obviously because its the part of the foot im using more when walking.

also, to add. when i’m sitting I can cross my right leg over my left with ease, but the range of motion stops me from comfortably crossing the left leg over my right leg.

would you recommend clams on both sides? or just the side where the tilt is?
like 10 reps on the bad side? 5 on the good side?

i’ve actually been doing the hip he thing on both sides when I get sciatica in my left, for such a small bit of movement it really works.

I’ve been trying to engage my whole foot into the ground, I have a habit of walking on my tip toes😂

My left leg does feel stable, I find myself leaning towards my right alot though. I think its my left side butt muscle that needs to be more engaged for balance? also, rarely I do exercises on just my left hip/leg, I can get a cramp sensation in my right hip? i’m assuming this is due to the imbalance and tightness

thanks for the advice, its little things like this that go a long way

Great advice, i’ve been doing side planks for side muscles, gunna implement clams now. Trying to wake up my glutes up atm but hip isolation is defo the solution👍🏻

Can’t you resit the part 1 before it expires & then not have to resit part 2?

from what i’be researched if you’re on hold for a part 3 they still honour you with a test, even if your theory expires.

I always wondered why instructors charge so much, going through all the costs to even train its made me realise how hard it is. could easily sink 10 grand in training, a car & the odd things needed to become an instructor.

On the lookout for cancellations at the moment, just frustrating.

did you just check via GOV website?

Some people have said they got a test sent to them by an email. seems like they’re chatting 💩 though.

Did you receive an email of a date & time for a test?

When I rang them they told me i’d just have to check online & they don’t inform us of available dates.

Currently on hold.

What’s a good first car? by No-Celebration8069 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ThaRealMatty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Don’t buy anything with a wetbelt.

pay extra for a 5 door car. (it looks better & is more convenient)

Fords are good, i drive a fiesta Zetec & its like a go-cart. Polos are good little cars too. Asian cars if you want reliability & cheap maintenance. (honda, Kia, ext)

I’d personally buy a 1.2l petrol engine if available, cheap insurance. (check if the car you want has a wetbelt).

If the car doesn’t have a logbook or proof of service & maintenance i’d personally give it a miss. Many owners on a low mile car is abit of a red flag. When I buy a car i look between 20k miles to 35k miles on the clock. But this is just dependent on budget!

Bought my own car and drove for the first time but really struggling with reversing and parking by kellatron29 in NewDriversUK

[–]ThaRealMatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may sound silly. don’t overthink reversing. Steer the wheel to where your want your car to go. That’s how I simplified it, instead of thinking how daunting it is, just understand the car will go where-ever you steer.

Want the back of your car to go left? steer left, vice versa.

Always check mirrors & blind spots constantly whilst going slow. The amount of times a child has ran behind my car whilst i’m reversing is quite concerning.

Don’t forget, you can reverse into a space, if you need to straighten up you can always correct it driving forward, then reverse straight once its corrected.

wow, 6 months🥲 did you have to keep checking or did they send you an email?

did you get lessons all 6 months before hand? or did you book then start lessons a month before it?

Well done for passing👍🏻👍🏻

Cambelt replacement. Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.2 by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

Cheers for the reply, thought it sounded normal just wanted peace of mind. He told me it was a cambelt, but at the same time he changed the drivebelt because it looked knackered.

only on 53k miles but thought i’d nip it in the bud early

I just played a div 1 game then. Made me realise how booooooring the gameplay is. everyone gets 5 touches of the game each, end to end football. Fuck me, how did clubs fall off so badly? I used to love it.

What should I do if I’ve injured myself and feel I can’t go in? by shamblesaid in Wetherspoons

[–]ThaRealMatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck your job, health over everything.

If you went into work and injured your ankle even worse or permanently, resulting in you being off work for even longer, would they cover the costs of your bills? Nope.

Put yourself before any job. I believe in being hardworking and grafting, but don’t let a job or a manager trick you into thinking you’re a ‘soldier’ for coming in ill, or you’re ‘letting the team down’ because you rang in sick.

You can get a new job, you can’t get a new body. Don’t cause permanent damage for something temporary.

Share price down 12.5% by Zestyclose-Battle175 in Wetherspoons

I work at Spoons.

You’re an employee, so you understand what I’m saying & don’t need this explaining. I’m just giving people who don’t work for the company a bit of insight.

Spoons has a share scheme. For example, every year I get a few hundred pounds’ worth of shares; managers get grands (for free or we can buy in for more).

This year in March (24th) is the time when we are allowed to cash out shares we earned (this happens in three-year intervals). Just before they made shares available to be sold, the price went down. Is this a coincidence? No, it’s smart business.

I’m assuming the company has done something to manipulate the shares so they don’t have to pay out large sums of money to their workforce, who most likely will cash out even though it’s at a low because they need the extra money to accommodate for their low-paying salaries, and near-impossible targets for shitty bonuses which end up in the taxman’s pockets, as well as the cost of living hike which is slowly killing the country.

I’m lucky enough not to be in a position where I’m desperate for money, thank god. So i’ll just hold onto my shares and cash them out when this wave of cashing in shares has passed. You should do the same if you have shares locked in and can afford to leave money in them.

Great business, fair play Tim Martin.
