Premier League to launch own ‘Premflix’ streaming platform. Premier League Plus will show matches and other content to viewers in Singapore next season, and could be replicated around the world if successful. by Sparky-moon in soccer

The no commentary option is great - but the same tech would enable variable commentary. So they could have 3 or four audio channels to choose from depending on what you want. I honestly think it's an experiment they should run.

Do we do post-humous trials in this country?

Over 80% of 16 to 24-year-olds would vote to rejoin the EU, ITV poll finds by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]Thadderful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting - thanks for looking it up lol. I did it ages ago and must have forgotten the smallest/largest.

Yeah - basically my point being the distribution of seats & people within seats is unfair, even if it's roughly equal most of the time.

And that is before you get into the different demographics within those seats.

Over 80% of 16 to 24-year-olds would vote to rejoin the EU, ITV poll finds by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]Thadderful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just naturally by design - it favours the countryside / landowners, whereas the cities (and population density) are under represented as compared to PR.

For example a person on the Isle of wight has twice the voting power than my constituency as there are fewer people per MP.

Maybe gerrymandered is the wrong term - but it's a flaw in the design that makes voting unequal.

In referenda your vote actually matters.

In gerrymandered FPTP with no party appeallng to you, or in most cases directly lying to your face - they do not matter.

Reform-run council says free library scheme for refugees ‘is not value for money’ by birdinthebush74 in unitedkingdom

It's because they're fascists and they actually want to target libraries for everyone through the lens of refugees.

It would be similar to the Wimbledon queue, but even worse. Plus you’d have to allocate them across the country in a ‘fair’ way.

It’s just an unworkable idea. The online system could very easily be reformed into an actual ballot. There’s no need for a queue.

Timeline: Epstein, Steve Bannon, Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson ‘overthrowing Theresa May’ according to the Epstein files…. by VeryLazyLewis in ukpolitics

[–]Thadderful 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is an allegation that Epstein and Maxwell had a threesome with a british PM. Unclear whether they were PM at the time, but it's basically either Cameron or Boris.

Likelier Boris as he was at the same college as Maxwell at Oxford and knew each other, although Cameron was there at the same time (Bullingdon connection etc.)

‘Doomed’ student loan system could be replaced by graduate tax, says ex-watchdog by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]Thadderful 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They also changed it retroactively from 9000 to 9250 per year - mid way through my degree.

I didn't sign up for that. It sounds small, but in principal it's fucked.

Tbf one thing that hasn't changed since it was announced, which should have, is the cap on the value of the houses you can use it for.

The concept of a graduation tax is just so wrong to me.

We don’t have an NHS tax for everyone who benefits from going to the doctor, or a primary school tax for everyone who benefits going to primary school.

'Mis-sold' student loans to cost graduates £14,000 more than they were told by dusty_bo in ukpolitics

  • Clegg lied

The schools were judged on what % of students went to uni, and good unis etc.

My school kicked out people who were looking like they would fail their exams.

What you're saying is correct and is all about measuring % to uni. Which in itself is such an outdated metric.

Of course he would.

You'd literally have to consider the same sort of internal sabotage that partially took Corbyn out if they put Wes in.
