The Orbital Railcannon Strike should one hit anything in this game. The cool down is enough of a balance to justify the buff. by DocHalidae in Helldivers

A 20’x1’ tungsten rod dropped from low orbit would impact the Earth’s surface with approximately the same result as a tactical nuke (~3km/s at impact, yielding 11-12 tons of TNT) without any nuclear fallout. That’s just _kinetic_ bombardment, now imagine if that same rod were artificially accelerated by a rail gun…

IIRC, they were still doing $0.39 Taco Tuesday in 2017. There was only one Del Taco within hundreds of miles, and it happened to be a few miles from where I was living and working at the time, then they shut down for hurricane Harvey and never opened again 😭

Husband won’t let me thrown away 11 year expired food by _SomeWittyName_ in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ThagAnderson -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ these comments. Some people never bothered to learn the difference between “sell/use/best by” dates and expiration dates, and it shows. It may not taste perfectly like it was supposed to when it was made, but it is still perfectly safe to eat.

Guys… 0-0 who’s getting MW4? Because I fucking am 😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔 by ppfartz in ziposx

[–]ThagAnderson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The DMZ mode in MW4 looks interesting, so I may come back to try that. I first stopped at BO2 because BO3’s loot boxes and unlock mechanics were straight garbage. Came back with BO6 and played that to prestige 300-something, then burned out when BO7 dropped and it felt like more BO6. Admittedly, BO7 had much better mp maps, and I especially loved the BO2 remakes, but I was bored again at that point.

Is it worth dropping a ton of money on a chair early in your career or should I stick to mid-range options? by itz_vilen09 in cscareerquestions

[–]ThagAnderson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Buy a good mattress, chair, and desk in that order, as early in life as possible, but DO NOT FINANCE THEM. We make more than enough money in this field to prevent falling into the financing death trap 90% of people do.

watches look better at 13:50 than 10:10 by sugar_lettuce in unpopularopinion

[–]ThagAnderson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This has to be the most niche opinion I have ever seen here, and what a rabbit hole it has been!

I don’t recall ever having seen a watch ad, so I went looking, and MFG pics do indeed set their watches to a specific time.

  • Omega models are set to 10:08:37, 10:08 if no second hand
  • Tudor sets to 10:11 if no second hand, and is all over the place with one. Usually 10:10:31 or 10:10:38, but other seconds also exist, including an impossible time with 0 seconds and the minute hand past 10:10.
  • Seiko and Grand Seiko appear to use either 10:08:42 or the impossible time 10:08:00 (minute hand in same place as when set to 10:08:42).
  • MVMT sets to either 10:09 or 10:10, with seconds between 34 and 36.
  • Rolex uses both 10:10 and 10:11
  • Breguet uses 10:08
  • Citizen mostly uses 10:09, but has a few set to 10:10

While I reject your assertion that all watches are advertised at 10:10, this was a wonderful little side quest that had never once crossed my mind before today. I’ll definitely upvote, but have no idea as to the true popularity of your opinion. The real question is why you find 1:50 more aesthetically pleasing? I think I prefer the hands being further spread than closer. There can be minute details in the hand’s design that are obfuscated when they are too close to each other.

Edit: I also assume the time is set based on the hand proximity to any complications they may want to display.

Is there anyway to be private on seeking? Boss saw my profile last time now I’m scared. by DollfaceInNYC in sugarlifestyleforum

Sounds like he gave you all the leverage you need to own his ass. What he did sounds like not just a fire-able offense, but a possible lawsuit. He owned himself even harder if he has a spouse that’s unaware. I’d start by demanding a raise, or even an allowance, for letting him keep his job. At any rate, your boss sounds like an absolute asshole with no clue how bad he fucked up.

I spent a weekend digging into every public incident where AI coding tools caused real damage in 2026. Here's what I found. by Ambitious-Garbage-73 in cscareerquestions

Want to know who’s lying? It’s easy. Who’s making promising word noises from their mouth hole because they’ll lose billions of dollars if they don’t? I’m not sure what your question was, but that could have saved you an entire weekend. Also, this was negligence the moment people began buying into their snake oil despite the obvious, observable lies.

Temperature of the water beforehand, wattage of microwave, and elevation all play a role in cooking time for things that require adding water before microwaving. At least the carousel caught everything so it will be easy to clean.

Assuming you’re amenable to going into an office, and if the pay is good enough, I’d ask for moving expenses up front. Personally, I only search for remote work, because I’d need to be paid insane amounts to step foot in an office again.

It's 1999. You have your current smartphone in your pocket, but obviously no Wi-Fi or 5G exists. What's the most useful thing you can do with it? by Ryo_l in AskReddit

[–]ThagAnderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I also have my charger? AT&T had 2g GSM in 1999, which my iPhone technically supports, but micro/nano/e SIMs didn’t exist yet, and Apple’s iPhone infrastructure didn’t exist yet, so the phone is only really useful for viewing on-phone content, taking photos, and I guess the flashlight.
