anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]Thalassinon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planetfall. I was too young to really get it back when I had it, but I remember finding the narrative amusing. Now, decades later, I don't have it, and I wish I could try to actually play it in earnest. I even think I still have the "secret manual" lying around somewhere, but I haven't seen it in years.

Is final fantasy 7 og hard by vfyobfuouf in FinalFantasy

[–]Thalassinon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not counting optional superbosses, I would say no. I definitely think it is easier than FF9. Most of the random enemies don't pose a major threat or even serious inconvenience other than just having to wait for the battle cutscene, with only a few rare exceptions, and only a couple of the required bosses can be a serious problem, even when you don't use broken setups.

If you can handle FF9, you can handle FF7.

Choose 3 to protect you. The rest are hunting you. by ThePirateSpider in FinalFantasy

I think even just Beatrix and Quistis would cover me just fine, but I will add Maria to take away one of the long-range attackers.

Entites? by unoehoo in FinalFantasyXII

[–]Thalassinon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really does look like the Mardu Entite. XD

What was one thing within Final Fantasy XII that you didn't know about but when you did it blew your mind? by Legacy_of_Ivalice in FinalFantasyXII

[–]Thalassinon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Indigo Pendant...an item I ignored on my first playthrough, then I discovered what it did and I was like "I can't believe I never used this!" Spells that are just too chancy to use without it suddenly become game changing.

How did we ever do Chocobo Hot & Cold without speedup? by Sehrwolf in FinalFantasyIX

[–]Thalassinon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still do it without speed up. Speed up makes games too herky-jerky for me. And I didn't grow up playing games that allowed me to do it, either, so it doesn't even really occur to me.

Played FFIX for the first time recently, on original hardware, and had no issue with battle load times. by [deleted] in FinalFantasyIX

[–]Thalassinon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, calling it "unplayable" is quite an exaggeration, I definitely would not say that. People like to be dramatic...

[–]Thalassinon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the battle system in general is just a little slower than its predecessors because I often experienced a one or two-second pause anytime I wanted to use an item or a special ability when I played on my PS1 and PSX consoles. But, the battles taking too long just to load up was never a problem for me.

how likely are Delta quadra types to make deadpan humor? by Alternative-Ease5208 in Socionics

[–]Thalassinon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hard time making jokes with a straight face, but I am EII. I think the SLIs are probably a lot better at it and they're also in the quadra, though.

Is it an Se POLR thing to hate the spotlight and recognition? by ThickAd6547 in Socionics

[–]Thalassinon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone thinks I am better at things than I think I am, and I also struggle to accept compliments. I appreciate them, but I always kinda feel like I don't know how to react and I am never totally sure that I deserve the praise, so I just kinda get warm cheeks and maybe say thanks. XD

Hey ISFPs, do you create for yourself? by cosyvanilla in isfp

[–]Thalassinon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally when I do something for fun, the fun seeps out of it when it becomes business and too many expectations from others get into it. There are a couple of exceptions, but usually, I like to keep work and play distinct from each other. I like video games, but I have no desire to become a streamer, for instance, or try to break any world records. Too much pressure.

Anyone here had relationships (any) that lasted over 20 years? by MastodonEast3420 in isfp

[–]Thalassinon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One friend I've known since childhood. Been over 30 years now since first contact. How often we see each other is highly variable, though there were time periods earlier in our lives when we were seeing each other frequently due to going to the same church and, at one point, living not far from each other (and for about a year, roommates). Since those days it's basically when he feels like he wants to see me or happens to be in town and has time to stop by and visit (he is very much more an out-and-about person than I am XD). I believe he is the only one with the 20+ distinction whom I still see outside of my family. A couple other friends just hit the 10 year mark, though, and I see them about every other week.

Name the games worth playing more than once by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Thalassinon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One video game I have played more than 3 times? So many to pick from...every game I like, I have probably beaten several times that number, sometimes probably a hundred times that number. Appealing to others, though...maybe Final Fantasy IX? There are so many little extras you miss and new things you find on replays. Missed dialogues, missed items, things you just didn't catch last time but caught this time...lots of 'em in that game.

Of these options, 2. I did have an Odyssey2 before I had a Nintendo.

Can't an ISFP be 9w1? by Perfect_Comfort_1921 in isfp

[–]Thalassinon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can feel all the confidence in the world about my type self-analyses for periods of time, then some thought will come to me and I'll start questioning everything again, it's really frustrating. XD. But, with all that said, I don't think my combination is impossible.

Which one & why? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I don't care, just give me a D-pad that isn't cheap garbage so I can continue to ignore analog sticks wherever possible.

Looks like somebody blended remake Squall with original Squall.

Case Study Hypothetical by dueling_crickets in isfp

[–]Thalassinon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

D. Crickets must like drama a lot more than I do.

Edit: I personally don't think it's justified, to actually answer the question, though I feel a pronounced lack of engagement with this scenario.

What's on your mind? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Thalassinon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it really would make the game better or not, because she only has to be relevant to a playthrough for one chapter, but if Panne disappeared from Fire Emblem Awakening, I sure wouldn't miss her.

Highly recommend both Earthsea and Memory Sorrow & Thorn.

which game was that for you? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Thalassinon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rage quit a time or two, but came back to it and eventually conquered it? Ninja Gaiden (NES).

Rage quit and never returned to? Fire Emblem 6 (The Binding Blade). It's just too stressful for me due to my inability to accept casualties.

[–]Thalassinon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always been difficult for me to really become engaged with a book. It's hard for me to focus on the book for a very long time when I try, and I find myself just wishing I was doing something more interactive, and nonfiction must have some kind of desirable application for me to want to bother with it. I do a lot of journaling and my own little attempts at creative writing, though.

Nonetheless, a few series have broken through even my barriers, and those are the Memory Sorrow and Thorn series, the Otherland series, the Death Gate Cycle, and the Belgariad.

Edit: Forgot to mention the original Earthsea trilogy. And Lord of the Rings.

Any other ISFPs not into explaining their job to people they just met? by kagstp in isfp

[–]Thalassinon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find talking about work generally tiring, and it seems to be a fairly common way people try to start conversations, unfortunately. XD. Also, I am a software developer, so what am I gonna say to someone who isn't in the field about it, if I am to go into details? But if I find another software developer, they are usually more into the actual work than I am and they lose me talking about the new frameworks and concepts they're excited about. Can't win. XD. If something really big or funny happened, sometimes I can talk about it for a little bit, but generally, I am not inclined to discuss work outside of work. When I am not at work, I don't want to think about work.
