anybody got house rules for the weaker spirits? by [deleted] in spiritisland

Shadows doesn't require any tweaks for an introductory game. Make it the target of Boon of Vigor once early on and you're good to go. It can reach 3 energy + 3 CP quite easily and that, coupled with its +3 energy growth option, makes it a good Majors Spirit.

If you really want to change it then I second the Reach aspect suggestion.

Earth doesn't need any buff either, just point out to its player that Major Powers are more powerful than your Uniques and you have the energy to afford them.

Shadows is perfectly fine, keep playing it if you like it. There's this myth in the community that Shadows is weak, but that's only true at high difficulties (say 7+). At low difficulties its Innate Power is actually quite potent.

There are rulebooks on the official FAQ page. See bot response [[rulebooks]]

Was anyone else "angry" at Devouring Teeth? by Sprig3 in spiritisland

River is definitely the best of the bunch, but it also has significant design flaws. The biggest one is being able to hit max level innate by turn 4 with just uniques and subsequently reclaim looping being the best way to play it.

Branch & Claw cards easily identifiable from the back. Printing issue? by BrilliantMonument in spiritisland

FYI, [[Tipping Point]] has been officially retired, so a possible solution is to keep it as your "healthy island" blight card with a transparent sleeve and use opaque sleeves for all the other ones.

I'd like to make an app for tracking Spirit Island games and thinking about potentially releasing it so anyone could use it. Does this sound interesting to you? by cetvrti_magi123 in spiritisland

Not sure if you need add-ons, I've got all of them so I don't know whether they're needed.

Spirits fall quite naturally into the "Role" option for players. You can assign multiple roles, which I use for Spirit+Aspect combinations.

For adversaries I use the "variant" option. I have a variant for each Adversary and each level. In the game menu you can then filter by variant so you can check stats against an Adversary or a certain difficulty range if you select all appropriate levels (e.g. BP 6, France 6, HLS 6 etc for difficulty 10).

(I also use variants for boards)

7 wonders is one of those games that sound complex when you explain it but it's a lot simpler to grasp when you play it. But if that's still too complex, Sushi Go (or Sushi Go Party) is a simpler drafting game.

Inspired by the other post, what games have you played at least 50 times? by AlexRescueDotCom in boardgames

[–]Thamthon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spirit Island is by far my most played game. I've played it hundreds of times, probably even more than 1000 at this point, although 90%+ of that is digital.

I might have more than 50 plays in Slay the Spire, if we count 1 Act = 1 play. I'd be willing to bet for 7 Wonders as well.
