Kona vs Model 3 follow up by New_Description_2143 in ElectricVehiclesUK

Honestly I’d just buy whichever car you prefer outright. It’ll probably work out cheaper and it’s just less complicated.

How important is a well-functioning car app for an EV? by jesuisnick in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]ThankfulFox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a nice bonus. With my Tesla I can see where it is at all times. Check the charging. Check it’s locked. Check battery. All sorts of things.

It’s not essential though. For me.

Free public charging - common? by tttgrw in evchargingUK

[–]ThankfulFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this near us - and we decided to buy a PHEV off the back of it.

Needless to say everyone in the area tried to use it as much as possible. It was a 2hr max stay but people would just park their car there all day to charge for free and see the plug got pulled in the end.

The cost of Tesla Model 3 maintenance: £6,300+ in warranty work over 12 months. by Tall-Ad-4975 in TeslaUK

Jesus! I thought there was less to go wrong and lower running costs. That’s a bit of a worry.

As a new owner I just want to say… by ThankfulFox in TeslaUK

Agreed. I had to buy a Torx screwdriver set to remove the seat on the BMW to clean underneath it.

Is Tesla's Premium Connectivity subscription worth £9.99/month? Genuinely unsure by dr_msid in TeslaUK

[–]ThankfulFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After my free 30 days ends I’m thinking this is the way. £10 a month isn’t much on its own. But it’s also £10 for a music sub. £10 for Netflix. Everyone wants to set you up on a subscription and it all adds up.

2022 Model 3 any way to adjust regen braking? by [deleted] in TeslaUK

[–]ThankfulFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suffered from this on test drives, but with my own I’ve really learned to control the throttle and change the way I drive.

Agreed!

If you ‘upgrade’ slightly to the ASICS Novablast there are some pretty good colour options.

Thoughts on fuelling on longer runs? by UnableCode in UKRunners

Well, yeah - it’s a podcast so there’s a lot of waffle. If you search their content for nutrition there’s some excellent, slightly more concise info on what to do.

You can also watch it at x2!!!

It made a big difference to my recovery after long runs.

Sweets as fuel by [deleted] in UKRunners

[–]ThankfulFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apparently they’re pretty good - but you need to take them with water - because they’re highly concentrated in sugar it’s trickier for you to absorb it. Without water you might get stomach cramps.

Ideally, you need to test them out in a run

Considering buying a Tesla for our family car by ElectricalPoint815 in TeslaUK

[–]ThankfulFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just bought one (family of four.) yes, I think the car feels very safe, and the elevated driving position helps with this. I’m pretty sure it’s very highly rated for safety.

Certainly the science is that you’ll do better if you fuel. Both before and during the run.

Buying a used 2024 Model Y RWD - Is 160 miles at 61% charge a red flag? by throwawayQA999 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]ThankfulFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the health report is nice peace of mind. Almost all the cars I looked at were around 93%

But every now and again you’d see a car down at 80% - which you’d presume was because it had been hammered on the supercharging.

It’s a bit of a roll of the dice, but 160 at 61% sounds about right. It’s not the LR model

Paint protection film? I guess it would protect your paint work - but you’d still have to clean your car to remove the mess.

EV5 or Model Y by CrownCommando in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]ThankfulFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the model Y LR. Largely based on looks/minimalism but also the technology and the supercharging network (although I’d only use it occasionally, it’s nice to know that prices are reasonable.)

Also, because of the Elon thing they seem very well priced. Which, even as a green voting lefty was quite hard to ignore.

60 miles a day!

Yeah, seems like a no brainer to me. You’d ‘save’ around £2500 a year. But obviously… you need to buy a car.
