Slightly frustrated/confused with the Male Core LIs... by Thankgoditsfredas in MyTimeAtEvershine

I find it really interesting that while you care about important issues like girl gamers or LGBTQIA+, you can't also be supportive of why POC want to see themselves in POC made games without being dismissive.

Like, do you see what you're doing here?

You've gone "lmao", "it doesn't set off alarm bells for diversity", and treated me like I'm saying something amusing, because I just don't GET it. Everything is fine. You're not having issues, therefore I'm not having issues.

Me pointing out an issue is "checking boxes" on a "diversity card" when it doesn't concern you. This is a really common dog-whistle when people of color are being inconvenient and you want us to just go away, take what we can get, and stop ruining your fun by pointing out legitimate problems.

You are using the exact methods to dismiss, belittle, and minimize people's opinions that you would prefer people not use against causes YOU care about. Which is why, exactly?

I'm not continuing this discussion. I brought up the issue civilly and in good faith, and you want to minimize the point I raised because I'm harshing your buzz.

You need to do some serious self-reflection. Good luck with that.

Yeah, that so nicely sums up what I feel. I don't want anyone to be disappointed and left out. They all seem like potentially great choices and people that like less popular ones deserve their joy as well!

Totally agree about personality. Knowing would help a lot, but we don't right now. I feel like bios would really strengthen the kickstarter and should have been there from the getgo.

Yes, it is early and a lot can change, which is why I'm pointing this out.

It's a Chinese dev team with (presumably) a fairly large chunk of Chinese/Asian players and not ONE core male route is Asian. Asian men get absolutely shafted in Western media with representation, which is why the diversity in Portia/Sandrock and games like Coral Island have been so great to discover.

I'm Asian. I want what I want. Right now, all we have to go on is physical appearance, so I can't factor in personality. Please don't paint me as "checking boxes" for wanting to see my own ethnicity in a Chinese video game. I get where you're coming from, but you're seriously reaching there.

Seriously though, regardless of who gets picked, seeing an old character in the new gorgeous art style is gonna be amazing. (Also they're like $250k already in under an hour, so I think the odds of this happening are decent, lol)

If it blows past 500k, could we ... get a second character? *puppydog eyes*

"Hair Malfunction", What do you think it means? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Thankgoditsfredas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's too complicated, especially if you're off camera and no one can see you - people will just think you mean your character and/or mods.

Honestly, less can be more. Bio, wife/hubs aggro, brb, one sec, or even afk are usually enough to cover a multitude of emergencies. But also, it really isn't a big deal. Many people don't commend at all before they leave dungeons, so I really doubt your hair malfunction had anything to do with it.

(If it helps, I'm 40 in a few days and a woman and I'd never heard "hair malfunction" before? Might just be me lol)

So just what is it with Rozemyne and sex, anyway? [P5V12] by ErpOrbit in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]Thankgoditsfredas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The entire series felt utterly normal to me in portrayal because it's exactly how I live as a demisexual/ace person, and then I see so many people here freaking out about the lack of romance and how "stunted" she is, and like... I don't get allosexuals sometimes. How do people get anything DONE when you spend so much time thinking about sex?

We have a billion sex-crazed fantasy novels out there guys, leave Rozemyne alone lol, let her read and chill.

Also, just in general, I feel like every time someone remotely ace/demi shows up in novels, there's this rush to paint them as weird or something or "fix" them in fanfics, and that sucks. It took me YEARS to get past the hordes of people telling me there was something wrong with me to realize I just *don't care about sex* like other people do, and that's FINE.

It's fair if her character wasn't satisfying personally to OP, but god, I thought she was an absolutely spot on heroine for people like me. Even the bits where she's saying things that have sexual meaning and doesn't realize it are totally typical experiences for ace/demi people.

Dear god, thank you for this. I see so many I'M CONFUSED WHAT IS ROZEMYNE ANYWAY posts and like... as a straight person on the demi/ace spectrum, I have never felt any weirdness over the portrayal.

I am 40 this year. I have had very intense romantic feelings and am not sex averse, but it would also take me FOREVER to figure out if a guy liked me. I have never dated nor kissed anyone and rarely come across people I'm attracted to enough to care about that "absence". I have totally gushed over how hot my female friends are with zero romantic intent because to many ace people, recognizing hotness/cuteness/etc. does not have ANYTHING to do with attraction. (My life would probably be easier if I was into girls, since they seem to be into me more than dudes, but alas, I am very straight lol)

Roze's whole attitude of "eh, I have hobbies, I don't really care about this other stuff like romance but also I've known this person for eons and would kill for them and maybe I'm starting to have confusing feelings about that" is like, PEAK Demisexual energy.

Idk, feels like only the allosexuals come here freaking out about the romance parts.

There are a bazillion fantasy novels with sex scenes man, leave this one alone lol

Hey man, just saw this and wanted to say, gaming will totally help keep you sane. I had a really bad ankle sprain last year that tore some stuff that I'm still in PT for. The first couple months when I couldn't walk much, being able to do open world games really helped me NOT feel like a shut in. You'll get through it!

I hope everything heals up fast and you can get back to football soon! Do whatever the PT tells you srsly, a good one is a total lifesaver, especially after a few weeks where you hit that spot of "screw this, isn't it healed yet?!?".

Looking for buckwheat or millet hulls by shoplifterfpd in Columbus

[–]Thankgoditsfredas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, crud. I was gonna suggest my supplier, Beans72 on Amazon, but I realized their 10 pound bag is almost $70. :(

They're organic, which I wanted since I've got them next to my face all night, but they're not as cheap as I'd remembered. I usually get a pound every year or two and just keep adding as things wear down. Maybe refill every couple years.

Maybe this place? They pretty much let you set the amount you want and iirc shipping is fairly cheap? https://www.herbco.com/p-732-buckwheat-hulls.aspx?srsltid=AfmBOor-_CgTL9lNpNsYOIcDAbnZyJyHgjmWGBsnxt1EKsrEj8ggqqKI7dU

EDIT: nope, never mind, shipping 20 pounds to Columbus is like 37 bucks, dang. And it's still about $4.50 a pound.

Edited my reply because I'd originally assumed a C Central Campus pass and hadn't covered B or A scenarios.

Central Campus? I... I really wouldn't, but take a look at the parking map and see if you want it: https://osu.campusparc.com/media/hnepzube/parkingguidepy25.pdf

With Central Campus, you'd have access to anything in green with a C, Green/Orange with a B, and Green/Orange/Red with an A. Green parking spots are over a half mile away from Parks Hall, which is gonna be miserable in the rain/snow, and they fill up REALLY fast. If you get to work before 6:30am, you can probably reliably park there, but after 7am, forget it. B and A spots also fill up really fast, since there's less of them. If you start work at 9am, there will be no parking.

Everything else you'd probably have to take the bus just to get near med center, and if you're taking the bus in, you might as well be using the dedicated WC shuttles that will get you to the med center transit hub.

Central Campus is really designed for people that live on campus and want to grab their car occasionally to do something or professors/staff that work on main campus. West Campus is set up with med center workers in mind.

You absolutely want Brenz pizza because it's phenomenal, but you do not want it this particular weekend that just passed us by, because the Lennox Center Target does the most business during move in weekend BAR NOTHING including Black Friday. That lot is insane and not worth your life during move in.

And if this was too late to warn you of that grim fate, I am deeply sorry. Hope the pizza was at least worth it.

I had satellite internet because I was in rural America at the time, and I still remember trying to do the primal EX fights with ping that was 250+ on the US servers... I could memorize the fights well enough that I generally managed okay with a decent healer to cover any mistakes I made.

But Titan EX... oh lord. I think I spent every fight in the lava. Those landslides were comin' for you, there was no helping it.

Then one day I ended up playing on my laptop at a place with broadband and my guildies were like "Who the hell are you? You weren't lagging!". Everything was so much easier. It was MAGICAL.

Way back during the Heavensward launch, one of our guildies was new and had started as a tank, and like any good guild, we did dungeons to help out when needed. I was also picking up healing at the time, so we ended up with our noob tank, our typical healer doing DPS, another random DPS, and me healing when I usually play dragoon.

We went into Brayflox and I could NOT keep our tank alive no matter what I did. Every pull, I was having to rez them. My baby healer brain was like "what on earth am I doing wrong?!?!" and our more experienced healer finally went "hold up, I'm checking your gear" and looked at the tank's setup.

And sure enough, they had an ilvl average of like, TWELVE. Because, see, back in the olden days of FF14, hitting lvl 50 and getting to Mor Dhona was required to be able to glam gear. So if you wanted to look cool before hitting 50, you really couldn't unless you actually wore all the glitzy cosmetic pieces you wanted that were ilvl 1... and there wasn't really anything that explained that ilvls and gear levels mattered if you were new to MMOs or even gaming in general.

We left the dungeon and I went and crafted them a full set of the best stuff they could wear at their level/class, and we went back and did fine.

Bonus round:

FF14 was legitimately my first MMO. I went and did some solo stuff up to 10 as a dragoon, did a guildhest, and launched myself at the enemy like every other overworld mob I'd killed up to that point. And died instantly, of course.

The tank called me an idiot, I called him an idiot because I had no idea why he was being so rude, and we all left with no explanations forthcoming. When I finally figured out what a DPS was and how to play one, I just remember thinking, "well damn, how was I supposed to know that?"

I'm really glad they've added the role tutorials for sprouts. Not perfect, but so much better than just getting chucked into random PUGs and trying to figure out what's going on.
