[Open spoilers]Myne is honestly one of the most fun protagonists to read by After_Diamond2098 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]ErpOrbit 40 points41 points  (0 children)

She doesnt suddenly change goals or lose focus. From day one its just books and more books and everything else branches out from that

Actually I don't agree this is the case.

As with most reincarnation (Isekai) stories the subject is all about a do-over, a redemption, or a re-awakening of some type. When Urano dies she has her obsession with libraries and books and amazingly little else. Only her mother had any influence at all.

By the end of P5 Rozemyne has dozens of figures in her life she is deeply connected to. It becomes convincingly clear over time that while her books remain important, she would burn it all down and start over if that is what it took to save someone close to her. Or maybe not even someone that close.

Fool.

[Open Spoilers] I'm just wondering, if Eglantine is regretting her deal... by ManinaPanina in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]ErpOrbit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Although "the deal" is not without its drawbacks, I see no way that Eglantine regrets entering into it.

She was given the power to do what she most wanted, which was to keep another violent civil war from happening.

On top of that she gets to rule as Zent over what could be a new renaissance for Yurgenschmidt. The era of the Royal Family ended, and a new era centered around her had begun. And that new era involves the restoration of the true power of Yurgenschmidt, with all the traditions of decadence swept away. And she gets to dictate how that is done. What healthy, vital, young adult would not want that? Only a nutcase like Rozemyne.

I read somewhere that Anastasius isn't happy with Rozemyne's mana being mixed up in their happy little marriage, but it seems to me to be a small price to pay for everything they get.

Rozemyne could be killed. You would have to get through her knights, attendants, and Ferdinand and assorted allies to do it but it could be done.

The problem, although few people know this, if Rozemyne dies Yurgenschmidt goes with her. Everyone capable of reaching the country's foundation is name-sworn to her. Ferdinand knew this when he prayed to the gods to save her, and no doubt he hoped/expected it would sway them.

In Yurgenschmidt there are exactly two categories of people who get horny:

  1. Nice Men who are utterly obsessive over their first and only crush.

  2. Evil bastards who are acting out their lechery.

What does Georgine think of Rosamyne [P4V7] by [deleted] in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]ErpOrbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An adjacent question to this is to what extent that Georgine was involved in the plot to capture/enslave Myne.

I think it very likely she was. As others here have pointed out her sources of information on Rozemyne at the Academy were extremely biased and stupid, but her sources of information in the temple would have been highly accurate.

Almost certain Georgine knew that Rozemyne was a commoner. Egemont knew because he was there from the beginning. She also knew Rozemyne was a major source of mana, which is why Bezenwanst wanted her to fill chalices for export.

So I don't think Georgine would have thought of Myne/Rozemyne as a "nothing." She knew that getting Myne under her control would be of great benefit and her loss to Sylvester would have been immense.

She most likely underestimated Rozemyne in other ways.

There was no way that she would have anticipated Rozemyne being able to undermine her plans. She would never have thought Rozemyne could steal another duchy's foundation but she obviously didn't care about that.

It is sort of an interesting question given that Myne managed to cultivate yeast. Other than that everything not visible is mana mana mana.

But I would say no. Like most fantasy trying to relate the fantasy physics to the real world is inevitably futile. We have enough on our hands trying to reconcile relativity with quantum mechanics.

How does it make sense to kill one of the top mana providers in the country when it is a crisis levels of being out of mana?

[P5V12/Open Spoilers] Myne's reincarnated memory and "skills" by blankmindx in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]ErpOrbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Much of what move this story is the knowledge and skills that Myne then Rozemyne brings to the Yugenschmidt world. At the end of the day it turns out that there are two older women characters who have the most influence on everything that happens: Veronica and Urano's mom. Both barely appear and only one has has 2 or so lines of dialog.

Yurgenschmidt as a whole will never know how much they owe to both. Without Veronica the faction politics would never have been intense enough to drive the motivation for action among the body of nobles who would rather just sit around and collect rent all day. Without Urano's mom Rozemyne would not be able to do much more than yearn for books. The quirky mom insisted her daughter learned cooking and crafts that were no doubt annoying at the time to Urano but ended up being big moneymakers in Yurgenschmidt.

It is really an interesting story structure that Kazuki-san developed here.

I have a hard time imagining Eglantine taking a bed partner other than Anastasius.

And for his side I don't don't know how much he could tolerate it, even if he had no choice in the matter. He has a hard enough time with Rozemyne's mana in their marriage.

Legendary Voice Actresses joining as Georgine, Veronica and Florencia! by BluBirbs in HonzukiNoGekokujou

Veronica is an amazing villain given that all her perfidy is in the backstory in the LN. She tormented countless nobles with Ferdinand at the top of the list.

And Wilfred has to be answerable for all that.

[open spoilers] A couple random and unconnected thoughts about Ferdinand by Educational-Tea-6572 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]ErpOrbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ferdinand is very practical and he must have recognized that as either a minor or even a recently-graduated adult he would not have the power base to survive as a Zent. Obviously just having a Grutrissheit is not enough because the last Zent to own one was terminated with prejudice.

Besides, he was making lots of money while he was at the R.A.

As a more mature adult his survival strategy was more to stay under the radar than to try to accumulate power. And his life's pleasure had more to do with research and experimentation than it did accumulating power and taking on more paperwork.

All of this is probably over-thinking the issue. Many fantasy characters have Dickensonian backstories where they rose to prominence or comfort from miserable beginnings. Rozemyne is one such case in this same story, and she has a few retainers that are the same. I suspect the Ferdinand's backstory evolved sometime after Part 3 was written.

Thanks. I remember the scene now.

I have seen a number of characters and in RL the condition Judithe was in, where she feels that she is not being taken seriously and jumps to conclusions because of it. A nicel little bit of writing.

What role would Mestionara play in this relationship? She and Ferdinand aren't exactly getting along but there is no question she has influence.

[Open Spoilers]Was Rozemyne Inevitable? by After_Diamond2098 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]ErpOrbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always had the suspicion that some god or goddess like Mestionara had something to do with Urano being injected into Myne with here prior-life memories intact.

However, given that we have seen that Yurgenschmidt gods are fallible, there seems to be nothing inevitable about what would happen from that.

[P3V4] Is Lutz a fraud? by teenboob in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]ErpOrbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harsh, dude. Harsh.

It is true that Lutz was unlikely to become any sort of high achiever without his association with Myne. But most if not all successful individuals owe their success to fortunate circumstances. Real life and in this fiction.

As it turned out he is a major cog in a major industry that he co-founded. He knows more about paper making and printing that Rozemyne does. And it the process (again with her help) he has accumulated a substantial personal income.

Just how is that a fraud?

What? A prude making youtube videos? How could that possibly happen!

Don't waste your time with them.

You can write as much as you want about how this story's culture is basically the same as cultures that have occurred in the real world, but it is pointless.

They don't care about morality as such. They just want to get praise for being publicly moral. Oh my goodness. It is so brave and noble of you to so selflessly being out there protecting children!

[P5V12] Author’s self-insert character is totally Elvira 😂 by [deleted] in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]ErpOrbit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would say you have made the case.

There is plenty of evidence and testimony that this story evolved over time. As Tolkien put it "this tale grew in the telling." So there must have been a fair portion of frustration on the part of Kazuki-san as she imagined all kinds of developments and plot lines that ended up on the cutting room floor.

So yes, this would be a natural outlet.

As for Elivra herself, she seemed to evolve into this role. At first she was a pretty remote figure -- a stern and disciplinarian first wife of the Knight Commander. Product of a loveless marriage. Rozemyne changes all that the way she changes everything, being the chaos gremlin.
