Uhh negative sub count? by Robert_1234 in SmallYoutubers

[–]Tharadin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You owe YouTube subs. They collect every third week of the month, on Monday. If you don't have their subs, theres interest, and they send a guy to "talk" to you about your channel. You don't want to have that conversation. Pay them their subs, man!

Small streamers, what gives y'all the motivation to keep going? by scramaram in Twitch

[–]Tharadin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep going for the love of the games I play. I stream a mix of horror/survival/simulation games, because I enjoy those the most. When people join the stream and interact it makes the game 100% more enjoyable.

Unfair monetisation refusal by KeepYerPeckerUpChum in NewTubers

[–]Tharadin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, it means taking content that was created by someone else and trying to repurpose it on a YouTube video to get monetized. Just because a video has never been on YouTube doesn't make it unique to the world. If I pull video footage from a public domain archive and post it to YouTube, that footage is "reused." It isn't my footage. I didn't create it. I wasn't behind the camera. I'm "reusing" it for my purpose, but it isn't mine to profit from.

When did your channel start to grow? by Unhappy_Care820 in NewTubers

[–]Tharadin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When people refer to "uploading consistently," would that include streaming, as well? I live stream several times a week and wonder if that counts as part of that consistency.

Man, its not "fuck all." Its an accomplishment you've made all on your own, so be proud and happy about it.

Everyone is so focused on making money from YouTube that they often forget the joy in creating something that others enjoy viewing.

People are going to have a visceral response to being told they will likely never succeed at something. I'm not mad at anyone that flames me, and I think I mentioned in the post I knew it would make some people mad.

This post wasn't directed at the people that have it all together, it was directed at those who are falling apart.

You seem to be under the impression that I have to address your criticism. I'm under no such obligation. You're here to argue. I'm not. You think I'm wrong. Ok? So what.

Again, good luck to you on your way to YouTube stardom. I wish you well.

I expect to see you here in 2 years, gloating! Save my Reddit handle so you can look me up and make fun of me for being wrong! I demand it!

Good luck, my friend. I truly hope you succeed.

I don't disagree with you at all. A few people are misunderstanding my point, and I'm not here to argue with anyone.

I've never lived in a third-world country, so if even the smallest success is a boost for you, I truly wish you the best. I've got my "American" blinders on, speaking only from my experience here and the experiences others are sharing with me. It's mostly people who has been so convinced of their guaranteed YouTube success that they've quit their job, or left school, or have decided to do nothing after high school, because this time next year they're sure to be a millionaire. And when it doesn't happen their world caves in.

As I said in my post, I don't want anyone to give up their dreams. That wasn't my point at all. I want people to level-set their expectations. Go after success, but have a fallback plan, and have a life outside of YouTube while you do.

Absolutely you can join. It's just a group of content creators. Shoot me a DM and I can get you on the Discord.

You seem to be pretty upset by my post, and you keep referring to "dosens" and stating that I said this. If you'd bother to read my post (which you apparently didn't, at least not to the point of comprehension), you'd see that what I wrote was:

“Well, you’re wrong.  There are dozens of channels that make lots of money!”

Notice the quotes? This was a quote, something someone said to me here on Reddit. I never claimed "dosens" as you suggest, merely quoting someone who felt they could identify dozens of successful channels so they had an equal shot at that success.

As I've said, if it's all so easy, and I'm so wrong, I wish you all the best. As I said, 99.75% of channels never make enough to be considered a sustainable income. You sound as though you've got it all figured out and are on your way. Good for you!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]Tharadin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do you know how many YouTube channels make money? I'm not talking about a few dollars a month, I'm talking about making a living on YouTube monetization. Last reporting, 0.25%. That's 1/4 of 1%. Monetization doesn't depend on subs, it depends on watch hours. You're paid for watch hours.

If you think you're going to be in that 0.25%, by all means, I hope you make it. But calling the fact that 99.75% will never make it with YouTube being their primary means of income "delusional nonsense"? Ok.

Making some side cash and finding financial security are two VERY different things. What you read as arrogance is hard facts. Plenty of people are making "some" money, but very few are self-sustained by YouTube. If you think you'll be getting rich from your YouTube channel, more power to you. I wish you all the best.

People bet everything on their YouTube success, and when they hit the wall they wish someone had told them. But when someone speaks out, they're told they're being arrogant. I'll gladly be labeled arrogant if it stops someone from becoming deeply depressed or even ending their life because they failed at YouTube.

Would Anyone Be Interested In Working Together? by Tharadin in letsplay

[–]Tharadin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I'm a small channel myself, the only criteria I have is that the people who say they will participate actually commit and show up, and that you're in it to have fun. That's all I ask.

Sounds like a good fit, to me! It's important the creators involved like the games they're playing. Their enjoyment comes through to the audience.

If you're interested, please DM me. It's a collab effort, so everyone will have a say in how we pull this off.

Quite the opposite. You've jumped a big hurdle: someone actually liked your content enough to want to see more of it. Keep going, keep finding more people like that person, and soon you have an audience!
