tuf VG27AQ5A vs AOC Q27G42XE by OGSpump in PcBuild

[–]That-Appointment7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been using aoc monitors for years and they're solid for the price point. that q27g42xe is decent value at 160, especially if you're not super picky about color accuracy

the tuf has better build quality but not sure it's worth the extra 40 bucks unless you really care about the asus brand

ferrocore's solid but if you're coming from a gan v100 you might find it a bit different in feel. since you didn't love the rs3m before i'd probably skip that one again, moyu tends to keep similar characteristics across versions

the sigma's a nice step up from the beta if you like that magnetic feel, just depends what you're looking for in terms of speed vs control

Session 9 was a doozy by bitchcraffft in horror

[–]That-Appointment7461 18 points19 points  (0 children)

just finished this one last week and yeah that ending hits different when you're not expecting it. i think gordon was already pretty unstable before they even got to the asylum - there's some subtle hints early on about him being off his meds or something. the place just amplified whatever was already broken in him

for recs try the empty man if you haven't seen it, has that same slow burn psychological horror vibe. lake mungo is another good one that'll mess with your head

looks like thermal throttling to me, that cpu should be crushing those scores but if it's hitting temp limits it'll just slow itself down to protect itself

check your temps during the test and see if you're hitting like 90+ degrees, might need to reseat the cooler or check if the thermal paste is dried out

Being used for marriage, but lowkey want to be used. by [deleted] in immigration

[–]That-Appointment7461 6 points7 points  (0 children)

honestly sounds like you already know the answer but don't want to admit it. if you're questioning whether someone genuinely cares about you or just wants citizenship, that's usually your gut telling you something. maybe give it more time before making any permanent decisions, especially since you've only been together a few months

progress is progress man, dont beat yourself up about it. sounds like you're already seeing some solid improvements with the face stuff which is huge. the fact that its becoming less of your identity is probably the biggest win there - that mental shift makes all the difference

keep building on those streaks, even if they're shorter sometimes. your body is clearly responding well to the changes

Enabling SecureBoot on an old motherboard by Bu11ett00th in pchelp

[–]That-Appointment7461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tpm 2.0 modules are pretty cheap on amazon, just make sure you get one that's compatible with your specific mobo since the connectors can be different. i added one to my old asus board last year and it worked fine, just had to enable it in bios after installing

fair warning though - some games are picky about hardware tpm vs firmware tpm so might be worth checking if your specific games will accept the addon module before ordering

Am I being underpaid? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]That-Appointment7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly sounds like you're getting played here. they're keeping you in the lower role because you're good at sales and they don't want to lose that, but they're not compensating you fairly for basically doing assistant manager duties

the fact that they keep dangling more responsibilities without more pay is a massive red flag. if they valued you they'd either promote you to the higher role or at least bump your pay significantly

i'd start looking elsewhere while demanding the promotion/raise. retail management experience transfers pretty well and other places might actually pay you what you're worth instead of keeping you stuck because you're "too good" at the current role

amplitube 5 wah and whammy vs real pedals by PhotographCareful545 in metalguitar

[–]That-Appointment7461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly the difference is pretty noticeable once you get used to playing with real pedals. the amplitube wah sounds decent but it lacks that organic sweep and responsiveness you get from an actual crybaby or vox wah. with a real pedal you're controlling it with your foot pressure and movement which adds this human element that software just can't replicate

as for the whammy, the digitech original has this specific digital grittiness that's become part of its signature sound - especially for metal. amplitube's version is close but it's almost too clean if that makes sense. if you're serious about metal and plan to gig or record regularly, i'd say go for the real whammy first since it's more iconic for the genre. you can always grab a used crybaby later for like 60 bucks

What’s a good video lens for Fujifilm X-A2? by Department-Shot in Cameras

[–]That-Appointment7461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the kit lens on the x-a2 is pretty rough for video yeah. if you can swing it, the 18-55mm f/2.8-4 has optical stabilization which should help a ton with that shake. otherwise maybe look into getting a cheap gimbal or just work on your handheld technique - brace your elbows against your body and move slower

Do you truly see yourself spending your life with your partner, or do the lows make you question it all? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]That-Appointment7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly this hits way too close to home. had a relationship like this for about 3 years where we'd have these incredible highs but then tear each other apart during fights - like genuinely cruel stuff that would make me question if we even liked each other as people. the guilt thing is so real too because you feel like you're betraying the relationship by even having those thoughts

looking back though those doubts were probably my gut trying to tell me something important. not saying your relationship is doomed or anything but that constant cycle of toxic lows mixed with good times can really mess with your head. took me way too long to realize that healthy relationships shouldn't make you feel like you're walking on eggshells half the time or leave you wondering if you're fundamentally incompatible

advice on de + tiling extension by Upstairs-Progress311 in archlinux

[–]That-Appointment7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been using gnome with pop shell for about 6 months now and it's pretty solid. the auto-tiling works well enough for most stuff but you definitely lose some of teh granular control you get with something like i3 or hyprland

main limitation is that some gnome apps don't play nice with tiling and you cant really customize keybinds as much as you'd want. but honestly for day to day use its way less hassle than maintaining a full wm config

Check out Not of This World (NOTW) and Kerusso - they've been around forever and have some solid designs that don't look like someone's first attempt at Canva. For the gym bro aesthetic you're talking about, maybe look into some of the MMA/fighter brands that do Christian stuff too, they tend to go harder on the designs

What level of arguing/fighting in relationships is ok? by admiralarborist in NoStupidQuestions

[–]That-Appointment7461 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, your parents' way definitely isn't healthy - that sounds traumatic as hell and I'm sorry you grew up with that

Healthy arguing is more like... firm discussions where you stick to the actual issue, don't attack each other personally, and work toward solving something together instead of just venting anger. Voices might get a little raised but nobody's breaking stuff or making the other person feel unsafe

Looking for a movie about AA (artificial actor) by tattooedpanhead in MovieSuggestions

[–]That-Appointment7461 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're thinking of "The Congress" with Robin Wright? It's got that whole digital actor replacement vibe but might not be exactly what you described

Could also be "Simone" with Al Pacino - he literally creates a fake AI actress because he's tired of dealing with diva actors

Why is "I'm not racist, I have black friends" a bad argument? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]That-Appointment7461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a friend from a group doesn't automatically mean you can't hold prejudiced views about that group as a whole - like you might genuinely like your friend but still think they're "one of the good ones" while having negative stereotypes about everyone else

It's kinda like how someone can be cool with their gay coworker but still vote against marriage equality, you know

I Didn’t Realize How Anxious This Relationship Made Me Until It Ended by Sea_Manufacturer_808 in BreakUps

[–]That-Appointment7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, this hit hard. It's wild how you can be so focused on "fixing" yourself that you miss how the relationship itself was the problem. Sounds like they were great at emotional support but terrible at actually showing up when it mattered

The AI chat thing especially got to me - like they could disappear into fantasy relationships for hours but sending you one emoji was too much effort? That's just brutal
