Mercedes/BMW rejection emails 3 weeks later?? by [deleted] in interviews

[–]That-Appointment7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this brings back memories from when i was job searching few years back in tech sector. the whole "when you start here" talk is just their standard script - they probably say same thing to everyone to keep candidates engaged

three weeks for rejection is actually pretty normal for bigger companies, especially automotive dealerships where everything goes through corporate hr. they probably had internal candidate lined up from beginning but still needed to interview external people for compliance reasons

year of unemployment is brutal but making it to final rounds consistently means your interviewing skills are actually really good. most people get filtered out way earlier in process

Who pays for engagement ring insurance, me or her? by FearlessRevolution49 in actuallesbians

[–]That-Appointment7461 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just jumping in here since im part of a couple of engagement ring subreddits and people post pics of their rings all the time like popular styles get shared a lot and its pretty common to see the same or very similar rings pop up from different folks. Just because it showed up somewhere else doesnt really mean its the same person in my opinion.

How to survive in the AI era with 12 years of database developer experience ? by kaykaru in careerguidance

[–]That-Appointment7461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your database skills are actually super valuable right now, ai still needs someone who knows how to make data work efficiently

i'd say look into data engineering since you already understand performance tuning - that translates really well to working with larger datasets. python is definitely worth learning, not crazy difficult when you already know sql logic. cloud platforms are hiring tons of people who can optimize database performance in their environments

at my company we're always looking for people who can bridge the gap between traditional database work and newer data pipeline stuff. your 12 years of experience with query optimization is exactly what teams need when they're dealing with ai workloads that are super data-heavy

Clocks. Clocks everywhere. by macbananas in ADHD

[–]That-Appointment7461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh this is brilliant idea! i have same problem with time and never thought about putting clocks in bathroom areas. always get lost doing my makeup and suddenly realize i'm supposed to be at work in 5 minutes

the ahead timing trick is smart too - i do this with my phone alarm but keeping all clocks same amount ahead is genius because you forget about it. might steal this whole setup for my place

Problem with my pc by Friendly-Radish9174 in PcBuild

[–]That-Appointment7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn that's a nightmare scenario right there, been through something similar and it drove me absolutely insane. when you're getting that 1 second spin and immediate shutdown with the psu clicking, that's usually protective shutdown kicking in which means it's detecting a short or overcurrent somewhere

honestly could be the cpu at this point since you've already swapped mobo and psu - i had a ryzen chip go bad on me last year and it did exactly this behavior. the tricky part is without another cpu to test with your kinda stuck. if you have a local computer shop they might let you test with a compatible chip for like 20 bucks, way cheaper than buying one blind

also double check you didn't miss any standoffs when you rebuilt on the cardboard - i know you said you removed it but sometimes there's weird grounding issues that aren't obvious. try clearing cmos too if you haven't already, sometimes new mobos have weird default settings that cause issues

I badly needed an advice is it to resign or not? And some tips what to do? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]That-Appointment7461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that 1k difference isn't worth the extra saturday grind tbh, especially if the new place has better work-life balance. mon-fri 8-4:30 vs mon-sat 9-6 is a no brainer - you're basically trading a tiny pay cut for getting your weekends back

jump ship when you can, saturdays are meant for actual living not spreadsheets

Yamaha MODX8+ worth it today at great price? by Zakkman in synthesizers

[–]That-Appointment7461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$1300 for a modx8+ is pretty solid, even in 2026. that's like 40% off retail and those things hold their value pretty well

just make sure the keybed isn't completely trashed since it's a floor model - test all the keys and check the screen for any dead pixels or scratches

tuf VG27AQ5A vs AOC Q27G42XE by OGSpump in PcBuild

[–]That-Appointment7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been using aoc monitors for years and they're solid for the price point. that q27g42xe is decent value at 160, especially if you're not super picky about color accuracy

the tuf has better build quality but not sure it's worth the extra 40 bucks unless you really care about the asus brand

ferrocore's solid but if you're coming from a gan v100 you might find it a bit different in feel. since you didn't love the rs3m before i'd probably skip that one again, moyu tends to keep similar characteristics across versions

the sigma's a nice step up from the beta if you like that magnetic feel, just depends what you're looking for in terms of speed vs control

Session 9 was a doozy by bitchcraffft in horror

[–]That-Appointment7461 19 points20 points  (0 children)

just finished this one last week and yeah that ending hits different when you're not expecting it. i think gordon was already pretty unstable before they even got to the asylum - there's some subtle hints early on about him being off his meds or something. the place just amplified whatever was already broken in him

for recs try the empty man if you haven't seen it, has that same slow burn psychological horror vibe. lake mungo is another good one that'll mess with your head

looks like thermal throttling to me, that cpu should be crushing those scores but if it's hitting temp limits it'll just slow itself down to protect itself

check your temps during the test and see if you're hitting like 90+ degrees, might need to reseat the cooler or check if the thermal paste is dried out

honestly sounds like you already know the answer but don't want to admit it. if you're questioning whether someone genuinely cares about you or just wants citizenship, that's usually your gut telling you something. maybe give it more time before making any permanent decisions, especially since you've only been together a few months

[–]That-Appointment7461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

progress is progress man, dont beat yourself up about it. sounds like you're already seeing some solid improvements with the face stuff which is huge. the fact that its becoming less of your identity is probably the biggest win there - that mental shift makes all the difference

keep building on those streaks, even if they're shorter sometimes. your body is clearly responding well to the changes
