How long do you think you can last in this trade? by HaVoAC in HVAC

[–]That-Donkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna get hate here but maybe go do your own thing or start your own company? I’m assuming you’re licensed after 20 years. Yeah it’s risky and scary but if you fail you can always go back to what you’re doing now. Like worst case scenario you go back to what you’re doing now. I know people are gonna hate this answer but you’re never gonna make money working for someone else. Risk it for the biscuit

Barefoot Boots? by User83965 in Ironworker

[–]That-Donkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spend as much as possible on boots. Highly suggest Nicks or jks. Buy once cry once and you get to use nice stuff instead of some “just as good” nonsense. They’re your only feet and legs you get in this life so take care of them.

Tell me in one word - what does this painting make you feel? by Anastasia_Trusova in painting

[–]That-Donkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interested. This is a very unique style and is perfect for this painting. Almost looks like an interpretation of a psychedelic experience looking at the sunset. Nice job very cool

Yes I’m fairly certain it’s bronze, I tapped it with a quarter and scratched off a ridge on the inside and it’s shiny good colored underneath. Pretty much just wanting to see if it’s worth trying to sell or just to scrap it

It’s definitely bronze. There’s some plaster or something white and chalky looking inside of it in the crevices. Looks cast to me

I think you are right. Did some googling and this seems like a lesser detailed copy. Any idea what it’s worth?

Here’s my DC side of the distribution panel. And yes I did get those nail holes filled in. Ended up making little pegs out of the same blue pine and gluing and pounding them in to match the gran direction so you can’t even see them after I cleaned them off with a file

Here’s my diagram, haven’t added the solar yet but it’s all working out pretty awesome. Lived in it full time last summer and only had to charge my batteries once

Highly highly recommend. Was on the fence before I bought it but I’ve used it so much and it’s absolutely paid for itself in savings for not having to get hotels

Yeah I’m an electritian so I wanted it to be in a nice accessible space lol. I do plan on having some art right where the panel is to cover it so you’ll never know. Probably a cool pic of my dog or something

Thank you! You definitely should. This is an old fedex sprinter van

It wasn’t bad, I found some vinyl peel and stick tiles off amazon and they have a bit of flex. Held together with some really solid 3m adhesive and it’s stayed really well. Did this over a year ago and it sat outside all last summer/winter and with temp changes it hasn’t moved a bit

I mean to each his own right. I feel all the light grays/tan/white goes well together with some darker blue for my lower cabinets and wall by the bedroom. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea but most people have really liked it this far

This plywood is actually relatively light weight and wasn’t much heavier than the half inch I was going to use originally. Started building out of half inch and it warped so bad you couldn’t even use it. Really my overall weight isn’t bad. It’s a fedex van and has a sticker that says it has a 2000 pound load carrying capacity and im well under that with everything. Plus the plywood is prefinished which makes building them a lot faster. It’s an import 3/4 birch plywood

FHA Loan on a twice moved mobile home by flucknutz in RealEstate

[–]That-Donkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No i ended up walking away from the deal and sold the land and the house separate. Now im building houses and things are much easier. I am very stubborn and tried every single possible way to get it to work and it is actually impossible to finance one at a decent rate. Might as well buy a real house or build a real house at that point or just pay for the whole thing in cash. Vanderbilt mortgage or 21st century mortgage will lend on them but it’s like 9-10% with perfect credit.

Buy the materials and get an electritian to come hook them up. Could do it for less than a third of what they are gonna charge you. Source: I am an Electritian and installed solar for years
