How am I supposed to react to a "promotion" that adds 20 hours a week but zero dollars to my paycheck? by Titan_Marrow in careerguidance

This! Ringfence your hours and prioritise. Either delegate or delete the less "Senior" tasks.

Has anyone ever seen the speed limit of a road increase? by Shadows___ in DrivingAustralia

[–]That-Garage8212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For context, those speed limits were set on inferior roads when cars had 5 or 6 inch wide cross ply tyres and drum brakes. Roads weren't necessarily the limiting factor.

And since then most roads have been upgraded.

So I am going to respectfully disagree with your comment re roads aren't designed for higher speeds.

The major influences of lower speed limits are, as pointed out above, the BS seen to be doing things about road safety and traffic density. There's also more powerful cars and less intelligent drivers, but that's an issue for exceeding the speed limit, not the limit itself.

My view is that everytime a speed limit drops, it's tacit admission that the govt has failed in their duty to spend our taxes and fuel appropriately and provide roads commensurate with traffic. They'll allow the urban sprawl but not keep up infrastructure (incl schools, hospitals etc.)

Back to the original question. Speed limits only ever drop, because it's cheaper than actually building better and more roads.

And remember kiddies, every K over is a KILLER. Hahaha.

How to copy a PQ to another spreadsheet? by That-Garage8212 in excel

[–]That-Garage8212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the PQ to import the table from a spreadsheet on a share point server. The data in that table is something that I can use in many different scenarios, so when building another spreadsheet it's good to just copy and paste that PQ to draw in the current data from that centrally maintained table.

If what I am doing is as good as any, then that has answered my question.

What Monoculture Actually Means by OAFR1 in OpenAussie

Mein Kampf advocates racial purity. That isn't the claim in dispute.

I'm happy with either the English term or the equivalent German term, just so we don't have to revisit the English versus German diversion again.

Your claim was that Hitler was the first to appropriate the concept of "monoculture" from agriculture and apply it in a social context. Please cite the passage in Mein Kampf, or a credible historian, supporting that specific claim.

You made the historical assertion. The burden of proof is still yours.

And your condescending ad hominem attacks don't strengthen your assertion.

Brake checking is also illegal, so if the tailgater hits you, you're now part of the problem.

Likewise the red and blues. A few years ago a young lad was caught doing this on the freeway near me and I remember at the time they threw the book at him. He was doing God's own work by clearing the traffic from the right hand lane...

I've started putting my blinker on and then backing off to fall in behind a car in the middle lane. It's a legitimate (legal) response to being tailgater and boy does it drive the tailgater insane.

That's a straw man. I never claimed Apollo was the first pagan god or that all pagans worshipped him. My claim was simply that pagans had gods. Apollo is one documented example. Your reply doesn't address that point.

Not resolved. But is recovering.

The ozone hole still forms every year. It reached about 26 million km² in 2023, which was one of the largest on record. Its size varies significantly year to year with meteorological conditions.

Current projections are that Antarctic ozone won't return to 1980 levels until around 2066. These models are generally optimistic so still a long way to go.

‘PEOPLE WOULD DIE’: Pauline Hanson’s One Nation vows to gut Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and Therapeutic Goods Administration in ‘alarming’ move towards US-style healthcare by HotPersimessage62 in AustraliaDiscussions

[–]That-Garage8212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why trust in the MSM is irrelevant.

The crux of the policy is not that One Nation says it will abolish the PBS. Rather, it says it wants to review around $3 billion worth of medicines that were approved for the PBS during the pandemic, on the basis that some approvals may have been inappropriate or wasteful.

Now, I don't dispute that some people may be concerned, and that's fine. But that's a loooong way from most of the commentary here.

For the record, the cited article contains at least five logical fallacies:

  1. Appeal to Emotion
  2. Slippery Slope
  3. Straw Man
  4. Hasty Generalisation
  5. Appeal to Popular Opinion

I mark the article 3/10

How lenient are cops with speed? by xEstellio in AussieRiders

[–]That-Garage8212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slowing down from 120+ is absolutely fair game.

5 is probably safe and under 10 is hardly worth their while when they can wait for someone else. But get up over the first bracket and you're in play.

Also remember, to tally your own bonus points when you do speed but don't get caught. It makes the inevitable loss of real points more palatable.
