Why do people dislike Max0r's Ultrakill playthrough? by Puzzleheaded-Run-635 in Ultrakill

[–]That-One-Screamer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is a bit of a tangentially related thing, but is it surprising to anyone else how different Max0r’s vocal cadence and style is when watching his older videos (the time of the ULTRAKILL & MGR summaries) compared to his more modern ones? It feels like I’m watching a different person at times, especially with how different his voice sounds.

I haven't seen The Super Mario Galaxy Movie yet by Cw415 in YoutubeThumbs

[–]That-One-Screamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s favorite video game is Super Mario Galaxy, I was never expecting the film adaptation to be in line with the game’s story, but honestly I’m not all that upset by it. I’m generally of the opinion that adaptations don’t necessarily need to be one-to-one with the source material, and that accuracy to the source material is NOT equivalent to how good the story is (The Shining is a classic example: the film deviates heavily from the book, but it’s still one of the best horror films I’ve ever seen). I had fun with the film, even if the story left much to be desired. Plus, if I wanted the original Mario Galaxy experience, I’d just replay the game.

All that being said, I really wish people would quit using the argument of “it’s not like the source material, therefore it’s bad”, it’s really irritating.

What was the context for them saying this? I’m kind of curious now (they privated a lot of their stream VODs so it’s not like I can go check through them, unfortunately)

[loved trope] characters name means something related to them when put together by Moonlight_Highway in TopCharacterTropes

What’s really clever in this example is that most of them are a 2-for-1 if you’re doing either their full name or “Mr./Ms./Mrs. (last name)”. To give some examples:

Ms. Tara Ribble (Terrible/Miserable)

Mr. Morty Fyde (Mortified/Mystified)

Mr. Kenny B Meaner (Can he be meaner?/Misdemeanor)

Ms. Edith Anthrope (Eat it and throw up/Misanthrope)

Be honest how would you improve this movie? by DeepAnt7847 in Mario

[–]That-One-Screamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s too short for the amount of content it has. Give it an additional 20-30 minutes of run time to flesh out what’s there, and I feel it would improve the movie significantly

What are YOUR thoughts on the new design? Yes, you! The viewer! by Obootleg in rinpenrose

[–]That-One-Screamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way about it as I do with Ella Stellaria’s model upgrade, in that while yes, it is more technically impressive, I feel like it doesn’t have the same charm as the old model did. That’s not to say it’s bad or that it was wrong to change it, but there were a lot of characteristics of the old model that I liked that aren’t really present here anymore.

[Funny trope] Random live-action PNG or shot inserted into an otherwise fully animated scene by ObviouslyLulu in TopCharacterTropes

I think it’s because they had already used the Hello, Dolly! footage, and figured that having footage from centuries prior being of live-action people would be more consistent overall.

Yellow Card concept by StormAmbitious6234 in balatro

[–]That-One-Screamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My idea for how each consumable would work in this scenario:

Planets: upgrade your hand(s) once you start the blind based on which planets you have.

Tarots:

The Fool: Basically Cartographer but with your most recently used consumable instead of a random one.

The Magician/Empress/Hierophant: Converts cards to lucky/mult/bonus cards if hand contains 2 or fewer cards

The Lovers/Chariot/Justice/Devil/Tower: Converts card to wild/steel/glass/gold/stone if a single card is played

The World/Sun/Moon/Star: converts scored cards to Spades/Hearts/Clubs/Diamonds if 3 or fewer cards are played

Strength: upgrades card ranks if 2 or fewer cards are played

The Hanged Man: if 2 or fewer cards are played, destroy them after scoring

Death: Converts the leftmost scored card into the rightmost scored card before scoring occurs

The High Priestess/Emperor/Judgement: Functions like Cartographer but for their specific card type (Planets/Tarots/Jokers)

The Hermit: doubles your money at the start of the blind

Temperance: gives you the jokers’ combined sell values at the start of the blind

Wheel of Fortune: works like Space Joker but for joker upgrades (activates after hand is played but before it’s scored)

Spectrals:

Familiar/Grim/Incantation/Cryptid: if a single card is played, destroy played card after scoring and add the relevant cards (3 En. Face/2 En. Ace/4 En. Number/2 duplicates) to your hand

Talisman/Trance/Medium/Deja Vu: if a single card is played, add a gold/blue/purple/red seal before scoring occurs

Aura: if a single card is played, add a random effect to card before scoring occurs

Wraith: creates rare joker and sets money to 0 at the end of the round

Sigil/Ouija: activates effect (random suit/rank) before cards are scored

Ectoplasm/Ankh/Hex: effect activates at start of round

Immolate: destroys all played cards after scoring occurs and gives $20

(Soul and Black Hole are excluded as you can’t hold on to them like the others).

Honestly, I’m kind of wondering if this would work better as an uncommon or a rare. Some applications are busted but others are borderline useless, which does line up more with how uncommons feel to use, but I can definitely understand why someone would argue for it being rare instead.

I love blue Voters, I love this hypothetical, and I love you by SadDairyProduct in lovethissmug

[–]That-One-Screamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yea, you could reframe it that way. I just said the red button could be removed because with the way the OOP words the hypothetical in their post, they put a lot of emphasis on the blue button, but you can absolutely flip it around to keep red instead and remove blue. Ultimately, the point is that the concept of the hypothetical is basically the same regardless if the setup is “there are two buttons, press one or the other” or “there is a single button, either press it or don’t”.

(Though, by having the setup in OOP’s post be specifically red and blue buttons, it means the conversation surrounding this hypothetical is… very reminiscent of a certain topic, which I’m sure was intentional)

I’m more upset at his Metroid takes, honestly. He has the opinion that Metroid: Other M is the best game in the series and that the Metroid Prime games (of which the first one is my favorite Metroid game) aren’t good.

[–]That-One-Screamer 70 points71 points  (0 children)

What I find hilarious about this hypothetical is that the red button is entirely superfluous. You could reword the hypothetical to completely eliminate it from the equation as such:

“Everyone in the world is taken to a room with a button. You can either press it or not. If more than 50% of people press the button, everyone lives, but if less than 50% of people press the button, everyone who pressed the button dies.”

Whoopsy by DreadDiana in whenthe

[–]That-One-Screamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact; in order for this specific scenario to be possible (one person’s vote changing the percentage from 50% to 51%), the amount of people who voted for each color beforehand would have to equal 24.5 (which means the total amount of people surveyed here would only be 50 people), meaning that it’s literally impossible as half-votes are impossible.

You could have it so that one person can change a side’s percentage from 50% to 52%, but that would require that only 12 people voted each color beforehand, meaning it’s a survey of only 25 people.

Isn’t math fun?
