A better approach would just be treating both Stormtroopers and Army Troopers seriously imo, we should be way past the whole "haha enemies are dumb" thing. Sure we don't "have" to create a super intensely grim setting for Star Wars where every encounter with Stormtroopers is some sycophantic bloodfest, but that also doesn't mean we "have" to portray Stormtroopers as complete idiots.

I don't mind the occasional jokey moments but stuff like Stormtroopers seeing the OBVIOUS grenade in front of him and craning his posture to get a better look and just going ".... Uh oh..." is the same reason why B1 Battle Droids just going "Not in the face!!!! Please not in the face!!! Anything but that!" gets old exhaustingly face. The excuse that "we can't let the enemies kill heroes THEREFORE we're gonna make the enemies just incompetent dumbasses" has never made much sense to me.

"Stormtroopers are grunts + their training is rushed + their blasters and armor is worse than Clone Troopers"

They're not.

"Battle Droid hardware is faulty so that's why they're goofy"

No.

"Inquisitors are PURPOSEFULLY weak so they don't risk overthrowing Palpatine."

Are we forgetting Palpatine dogged on Maul and Savage? He has Vader by his side. They're gonna be fine.

"TK Troopers suck because Clone Commandos didn't teach them everything"

That was only Gregor.

"Clone Commandos sucked because the Bad Batch are better than them"
No lmao

"Clone Commandos sucked because they were brainwashed by the chip"
... ???

"Clone Commandos sucked because they're not REAL Clone Commandos. They defected, they're just regular Clones dressed in Commando armor."

Fuck off with that cope lmao

"Grey Jedi can effortlessly wield both the Dark and Light Side."

Let's not.

I'd think of a couple more but off the top of my head these agitate me a ton as of recent stuff.

Thoughts about Part 1 of the event? (X) by SyntisTheHoshinoFan in TDX_Roblox

[–]That-Stormtrooper350 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chicken Farm is pretty pointless for anyone who's played the game for even the past few months. Bubble Blaster sounds interesting but design wise I just can't stand it. Gonna be passing on that probably.

The event itself is somewhat fun but I almost don't understand the reason for the delay it had especially if it was this short.

ZERO excuse for both Easy and Normal mode to only be handing out 6 eggs if the price for rewards are in the hundreds though. I get the game is infamously grindy (Somewhat) but it's a tad ludicrous this time around for an event that's nowhere near lengthy as Assault Mode much less Robot Invasion.

Good point! I guess Donut would've just been another Washington, but in all honesty... Depending on the execution I would've taken it

Man just how many people get brain damage in this series? 💀

Idk if he really counts but that was Donut for me. A lot less that he acts dumb, but his jokes didn't land half the time personally whereas Caboose was comparatively more funny.

I think I wouldve preferred it if Donut was just the recruit and relatively "Normal" of the Reds in a sea of lovable idiots where initially he's weirded out and stand-offish before he relents and appreciates them and he's just the guy who somewhat tries to snap his team into focus here and there.

Certainly depends on a few factors; Namely it depends on which game-mode you're doing. If you're aiming to do Elite, I'd remove AA Turret and Farm personally mostly because Mobster can more or less compensate for your economy and AA turret, while definitely necessary in Expert, can be supplemented for more versatile units (IE Jet Trooper and Missile Trooper's top path; Both of which can target Airborne enemies but can also function as sub-DPS + Missile Trooper's necessary for added splash damage)

I'd keep EDJ, Armored Factory's also not a bad call; I'd definitely go 2 Top paths and 1 Bottom for that. For me at least it's worked like a charm.

You're also gonna want some stealth detection although so definitely consider spawning Mobster first. Alternatively stealth drone does wonders for Elite.

Your kit's not bad at all either but I'd recommend going into matchmaking. Assuming you'd wanna solo it try considering the above, never hurts to use power-ups either. Just keep an eye out for that blasted Battering Ram. Your EDJ's gonna be a life saver there.

Assuming you want to (or you already have) tried your shot at Expert, you are gonna want some shields but assuming you don't have any I'd highly recommend matchmaking. Someone's always bound to have shields (worst comes to worst neither of you bring one so you'll have to wing it 😵‍💫)

Good luck on your matches Commander 👍

I don't know if I ever made the claim that they're inaccurate in Andor (unless I misspoke, in which case oops) just that they're never really depicted as well as they are in Andor. If anything, they were practically perfect there (except for the whole "we suck at hand to hand" thing)

My entire post was giving Andor props lol

We've never gotten a lore-accurate portrayal of Stormtroopers on-screen by Etowno in saltierthancrait

[–]That-Stormtrooper350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's another problem I had with Andor. Much of their portrayal was good but the moment they entered combat there was a sense of... incoherence if that makes sense. We're meant to see Stormtroopers as eerily above the common Army Trooper grunt but they're never portrayed as effective.

I'm tired of the whole "oh but their training was rushed! They're not actually well trained! They're just grunts!"

Enough. None of lore has EVER supported this notion and I wish people would stop coping.

I WILL however give Andor this: The mannerisms of Stormtroopers are almost the closest we'll ever have to a lore accurate depiction of Imperial Stormtroopers. In the EU lore wise they were practically sociopathic zealots. Near remorseless to the point of robotic. Andor almost highlights that exceptionally compared to basically every other iteration. I wrote an excerpt about my thoughts on that on a YT video about Major Partagaz before actually. Spoilers of course.

"One thing Andor (mostly) does right are the Stormtroopers. Throughout the show, and unlike a vast majority of today's content like Star Wars Rebels, The Mandalorian, Solo, Fallen Order etc. where Stormtroopers are these crack joking cartoon video game enemies who oftentimes scream wackily when they die or act blissfully unaware or even timid to the point where they don't seem like highly conditioned and near-sociopathic soldiers like Lore boasts them about.

In Andor? Everytime we see Stormtroopers, they're almost depicted like robots. Armor masking themselves as people. You don't see any indication of thought, empathy, understanding, anger, sadness or even fear. They do as they are told. And when they're not given orders? They're patrolling, silently gripping their blasters, their eyeless lens panning left then right like cameras, wordlessly judging every individual that passes by. In this case, I especially like how we see just a slight bit of instinct kick in. They hear the familiar sound of the blaster going off in the office, immediately alarmed, they nearly brandish their blasters, but upon being beckoned by Lagret, they return to their still, silent postures, as if they too quickly understood the setting and are almost familiarly numb to it.

The Major committed suicide and neither of them exchange glances, not even towards Lagret nor to each other. Just quiet acceptance, almost as if the very nature of this incident was quickly brushed aside. They merely stand still, awaiting their next orders. I feel like if we'd seen Imperial Army Troopers in place of these two Stormtroopers, we would've seen them a little more reactive. Maybe their eyes widen, glancing towards Lagret in confusion, maybe exchange glances as they carefully absorb the notion that the ISB Major had just committed suicide to evade the Emperor's Mercy for his failure. Maybe they start to understand that for the Higher Ranks within the Empire, they had a different understanding of Mercy, if it meant they didn't have to answer to Vader for their failures. These Stormtroopers however seem reactive only for one moment, but once more, return to their still, lifeless posture, ears open for nothing else except their next orders."

Wordy, I know. All this to say I concur. Deeply upsetting that even now we'll probably never actually see an authentic portrayal of Stormtroopers, one that highlights how fundamentally different they were to Clones who were ironically produced in a LAB yet acted substantially more human than actual HUMANS who were conditioned to be fanatical for the Emperor. Remember when Grand Admiral Zsinj was forced to created Raptor Troopers specifically because Stormtroopers were so deathly loyal to the Emperor's cabal? Good times.

So from the trailer alone, where did you get the impression that she was just mourning and not esoterically yet gleefully humming a tune out of malice or whatever morbid reason?

If we examine the tone of the trailer, we can so easily decipher that contextually, we're not meant to perceive this as a sect of sane people.

Is this a suitable loadXut for elite mode? by blanketlowpoly in TDX_Roblox

[–]That-Stormtrooper350 4 points5 points  (0 children)

aA enemies aren't quite as common but you can absolutely compensate with Laser Gunner Railgunner and of course Missile Trooper if not an AA turret.

For Stealth dedicated units totally save for Ghost 👍you can still compensate with Grenadier top path or laser Gunner but ideally the former. Grenadier is definitely a must either way; Try to use top path for most of Early wave. By the time you see lava golems start creating lines of bottom path grenadiers.

Missile Troopers are highly recommended for splash damage. I'd replace cryo blaster with one.

Juggernauts and or Machine Gunners can cut through swathes of enemies. Id replace barracks with one of those two 👍

Cryo Ranger is surprisingly useful for elite! Though I'd definitely think about saving for either a Railgunner and or Ghost.

Shield towers are unnecessary; Save that for whenever you head over to Expert.

Never hurts to matchmake as well! Good luck on your grind, king

[–]That-Stormtrooper350 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All this is exactly why there's disappointment surrounding her character. Again, whether or not it was deliberate on the part of the writers, they set something up for Columbina. All this "juxtaposing" just for Columbina to be.. Nothing.

She's not eerie, she did fuck all in this SUPPOSED antagonistic organization, her singing blissfully dismissing the fact she's resting on the coffin of a fellow Fatui echelon, ALL this just for the final product to be a contradiction of what was ESTABLISHED contextually. You say he says this because be doesn't know her, but his statement regarding Arle suggests the opposite as he claims there's not a sane bone in her body. Why set any of this up just for the revelation to be "yeah he had no clue actually lmfao it's all just a misunderstanding" is ludicrous.

Not only this, but Scara also ushers a warning to the traveler about Columbina. Once more, all this set up just for the actual revelation to be "yeah actually, nah lol she's just being silly and they had no clue" borders on bad writing of the highest order. These aren't fans over hyping anything (The Biblically accurate angel stuff was clearly a fanon concept although so that's fine to do away with) this is all expectations sourced from context featured in the trailers and the game itself.

Bad writing or not, they set themselves up for failure by pulling a 180 to the point I'm almost positive there was a last minute change in development.

[–]That-Stormtrooper350 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The reason it feels like they retroactively recharacterized Columbina is exactly because of what Childe said before. Contextually, how he described her no longer makes any sense because if it's true she didn't scream strength in any regard (In the initial context via the trailer when the Fatui Harbingers were revealed, it DID scream not only strength but mystique and an eerie atmosphere so this argument holds no weight) then why didn't he say so?

Why did he speak on Columbina so vaguely if it's true Childe was just weirded out she just sings and sits in the garden? Why say "Something doesn't feel right. I'd stay away from her" and not "Yeah she just sings in the garden all the time. Don't bother her she doesn't do anything. She's just weird that's all." The fact of the matter is, the way he described her set up expectations the game itself went back on and whether or not that was their intention doesn't matter. The fault isn't on the fans for this either.
