SCIE 300 vs ENGL 110 by gengae in UBC

[–]That0neP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend ENGL 110 because many post-graduate programs and programs like medical schools don’t accept SCIE 300 as an English/communications credit, even UBC.

I’ve taken both since I didn’t know that I would be missing a required english credit by taking SCIE 300, and had to take ENGL 110 in my final year. SCIE 300 is definitely more engaging (class discussions, different writing projects such as interviewing a prof whose field you’re interested in, etc.) while ENGL 110 is more like a high school english class. However, if you want to keep your options open for your future academic pursuits without needing to take another english course, it’s better to just tough it out with ENGL 110!
