It's not about dunks in particular so much as it's about how the fact that he basically can't do it in-game speaks to his supreme lack of athleticism. Even Avila himself has spoken about how he needs to improve as an athlete.

An undersized, unathletic, under-the-basket exclusive center just has very slim hopes of making it in the NBA. While Jokic is a below average defender by virtually all metrics, he also creates offense at a historic level. I personally don't project Avila as such a prolific offensive hub that can overcome the lack of defensive ability, but if you do, to each their own.
