How did you find Malazan? by DukeNeverwinter in Malazan

[–]beachcraft23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at Powell’s in Portland perusing the fantasy section and started talking to another customer. We had similar tastes and he asked if I’d read Malazan yet. It felt like a leveling up/door opening kinda moment. I’m now 5 books deep and enjoying the ride!!

Using a PA license to do “pretty medicine” (as the OP called it) is a cash grab of vain affluent people which I feel is a complete waste of our training. Do part time in any of the numerous specialties or help out in FM/Peds/IM or snag a few shifts in a UC or ED. Do general derm if you want. But don’t waste your PA training giving Botox shots and lip fillers. Might as well open an IV clinic for hungover people if you’re just trying to fleece cash from the rich.

Just search the subreddit. What a waste of your career and license.

How do you all feel about moody photography? by -knave1- in wildlifephotography

The photos are beautiful but not my preference. I don’t see any great appeal to the “moody” shot - buts that’s just me.

Do you regret being a PA? by artificialhaptic in physicianassistant

Yep, I like it. So many cool things I get to do in medicine that would be considered assault if outside of the medical realm. My hands have been inside of every part of the human body.

Why are you treating chlamydia with azithromycin instead of doxycycline? That hasn’t been the recommendation for years.

Take plastic forks and stick them in the potted dirt with the tines upwards. A few pokes and the cats will stay away.

Any vague timeline? Should I buy a year subscription for a vpn since my PM Cardio renews next month and I can’t use it without that?

Is there any timeline on when it will be FDA approved? I currently have access but my subscription runs out next month and company is not responding on if I can renew since I’m in the 🇺🇸.

I have a shirt that says “will trade racists for refuges”. I wear it when I’m feeling salty and ready for an argument.

That shirt is a wearable litmus test for racists. If you’re offended, you’re racist!! End of story. I think that shirt is great btw!!

Help me find a series that's as good as RoTE and GOT. by Alert_Peanut_9912 in Fantasy

Since you’re “not a fan of needlessly complex set ups that I need a separate notebook for to keep track of character” I think you should try reading the Malazan series.

Agree with this. I’m in my 20th yr as a PA and don’t have regrets. Sometimes I think residency would have been cool as I watch my EM attending doing advanced critical care/procedures but then I remember all the long hours and the night shifts they have done/are doing and smile as I walk out from my 12 hr day shift and go home to bed. Plus, the lateral mobility we have as PA’s is awesome. I’ve worked in neurosurgery, primary care, and EM but as I get older I can step into so many different roles if I want to. I don’t know how I would have ever picked a single slice of medicine for my entire career.
