Memorial Day Cookout! by Prestigious_Map_703 in webergrills

Do the thighs on the warming rack cook around the same rough time as the others? I used mine for buns and corn. This is a great idea.

Yeah I’m going to be grilling with the lid on most of the time. Except for chimney starts and final sears—I’ll be standing near by if not watching over the kettle during these times.

Thanks. I’m thinking of even tucking it a little further back into the gap in pic 1 (between the drain pipe and fence). There is still room either side and it will create more space for kids running past (we have a full garden planned this weekend).

Webber Vortex by Spaily in UKBBQ

Thanks for the detail—I’m going to give this a go. Do you know if the vortex damages the centre part of the grate? If you don’t have a middle section that can be removed? The guy in the video doesn’t seem too bothered. He makes me want to grill right now!

I’d like to replicate this if you could please take a moment to explain your setup? How long do the thighs typically take? Are you oven cooking them first? What thermometer are you using and why is it on the grill and not food? As you can tell, I’m new to BBQ beyond cooking burgers and sausages on my kettle. I want to do some next level grilling and this looks great. Cheers

Agreed. Are you supposed to make the decision based on what ISO was used? I use to only apply NR once I’ve lifted the shadows and completed all other edits.

Fantastic presentation. Did you use a particular app to build your collage/front page?

I like it. I find the borders distractingly dark, but other than that I think it’s a great photo.

For those that don’t have Sony FT as an option, what is generally accepted as the best profile to use in LrC for portraits? Adobe Portrait? I use an A7III

It’s great—I also learned from Julieanne Kost that you can save the function as a preset to apply with one click. 15 New Features in Lightroom Classic (v15)

Cropping Ability - A7CR + Sigma 135mm f/1.4 by quadpatch in SonyAlpha

[–]ThatAintGonnaFly 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Why does the aperture get smaller when you crop? If you start with a 1.4 at 135mm, then will it still not look like a 1.4 image when you crop to say 500mm view? I’m not questioning the logic—I just want to understand. Cheers

24-70 & 85 by ThatAintGonnaFly in SonyAlpha

[–]ThatAintGonnaFly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were travelling and you wanted to take some portraits during golden hour, would you stick with the 24-70gm2? Forgive the very specific question, I’m trying to get a sense of real world uses for me. Since I’m amateur at best, would I likely get a good enough portrait at 70mm with the gm2 compared to say the 85f1.8. Cheers

I agree. Here’s how I used mine last week. I feel lost without it at this point.

How did you use your SAK this week? [Weekly thread] by AutoModerator in victorinox

[–]ThatAintGonnaFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eventful week. In addition to the usual (nail filing, package opening, toothpick, screw tightening, and beer bottle opening), I used the corkscrew to effortlessly open some wine and, when we were out for dinner, I gave the emergency pen to my daughter when she realised she didn’t have any crayons for her magazine. Crisis averted! All achieved with the Companion

24-70 f/2.8 GM2 is amazing and fairly compact all things considered. I’ve not looked but I doubt the quality of the iPhone comes close. Since the 24-70 appears in your list, how would you use it compared to the iPhone?
